NYT on Amnesty: Cheap Labor Profiteering Millionaires Need Your Help!

Ann Coulter, VDARE, April 2, 2014

Last Sunday, The New York Times published a front-page article about the heartfelt need of California farmers for more illegal aliens. [California Farmers Short of Labor, and Patience, Jennifer Medina, March 29, 2014]

The first tip-off that heinous public policy ideas were coming was that the Times introduced farmer Chuck Herrin, owner of a farm-labor contracting company, as a “lifelong Republican.” That’s Times-speak for “liberal.”

Herrin admitted that he employs a lot of illegal aliens and bitterly complained that they lived in fear of “Border Patrol and deportations.” (But, apparently, he doesn’t live in fear of admitting he’s violating our immigration laws.)

Sorry that running a country inconveniences you, Chuck.

He said his illegal alien employees deserved amnesty because if “we keep them here and not do anything for them once they get old, that’s really extortion.”

As the punch line goes, “What’s this ‘we,’ paleface?”

Taxpayers have been subsidizing Chuck Herrin’s underpayment of his illegal labor force for decades, with skyrocketing taxes to pay for schools, roads, bridgesfood stamps, health care and so on. Now Herrin thinks “we” are supposed to support his illegal employees in their old age, too.

Here’s another idea: How about a federal law mandating that employers of illegal aliens take responsibility for the people they hire? Why is the taxpayer on the hook for illegal aliens’ food, housing and medical care, when Chuck Herrin got 100 percent of the profit from their cheap labor?

{snip}

“We” got hospital emergency rooms jammed with illegal aliens when we came in with heart attacks. “We” got the crime, drunk-driving and drug trafficking associated with illegal aliens. “We” got the overcrowded schools filled with kids whose illegal alien parents don’t pay property taxes. “We” got to press “one” for English.

This is even worse than the Wall Street bailouts—another example of fat cats pocketing 100 percent of the profits when business is good, but demanding a taxpayer handout when their investments go south. At least the Wall Street bailouts didn’t alter the country forever by giving the Democrats 30 million new voters.

According to the California Hospital Association, health care for illegal aliens is costing state taxpayers well over $1 billion a year. Eighty-four hospitals across California have already been forced to close because of unpaid bills by illegal aliens.

{snip}

Not only should employers of illegal aliens be responsible for their employees’ becoming public charges, but they ought to be legally responsible for any crimes their illegal workers commit, just as parents can be for the crimes of their minor children, and bars can be for the behavior of their over-served customers.

{snip}

If Mexican farm labor is so much cheaper, maybe we should be growing our fruits and vegetables in Mexico. There’s absolutely no reason to import Mexicans to do something they could do at home and then sell to us. I believe this is what economists call “competitive advantage.”

The Times quotes a report by two pro-amnesty farmers groups, Partnership for a New American Economy and the Agriculture Coalition for Immigration Reform, complaining that American consumption of foreign-grown produce has increased by 80 percent since the late 1990s.

I see why rich farmers are alarmed by that, but why should Americans care? If food can be grown cheaper in other countries, isn’t it the very essence of libertarian free trade principles to buy it from them?

No. Apparently, we’re required to wreck the country by bringing in millions upon millions more poor people so we can save the buggy whip industry.

    Problem solved…

He said his illegal alien employees deserved amnesty because if “we keep them here and not do anything for them once they get old, that’s really extortion.”

He’s not concerned about the people he is exploiting being victims of extortion.

No one needs more of those people. They are literally invading our lands and yet there are some people who somehow praise the invasion of those allegedly moral people?

No one needs more of those people. They are literally invading our lands and yet there are some people who somehow praise the invasion of those allegedly moral creatures. I have seen the arguments of pro-immigrationists a hundred times, but they have always failed to answer my question why our racial survival, i.e. our continued existence, would not be threatened by non-Whites in our countries.

Chuck is short sighted, doesn’t care about his fellow countrymen, his cultural/ethnic heritage, or his civilization. Chuck only cares about immediate sense gratification and the temporary accumulation of wealth. Chuck is spoiled, pampered, and cannot imagine the horror of ethnic war, slavery, and rape.
      He calls these concepts “freedom”.
I call those concept irresponsibility and treason.

  • Luca

There is zero benefit to having these people here. I’d rather pay an extra nickel per apple or else have prison labor, the unemployed or welfare recipients pick the fruit then have these invaders on our soil.

    • Nancy Thomas

Me too, I’d gladly pay ANYTHING to have them all sent home.

    • Bossman

The USA has always used non-whites to toil in the fields. First it was the millions of African slaves imported to do just that. The undocumented migrants are just doing the work that the slaves used to do.

      • Luca

Read the “Grapes of Wrath” chico. Or have someone read it to you.

        • Bossman

The Grapes of Wrath is book about white people complaining about all the miseries that was involved in working in open fields under the hot sun. They complained so much that books and movies were made about it.

          • Luca

Thank you. I wanted your ignorance on display. You did not disappoint.

          • Bossman

Are you implying that it is not about poor white people heading to California to find work and to escape the dust bowl and encountering a lot of misery and hardship along the way?

      • Xerxes22

The slaves picked cotton and other cash crops. They did not harvest fruits and vegtables. Whites did that work. Before the first World War, there were almost no Blacks living outside of the South and even by the second World War, there were only a few Blacks living outside the South.

        • Bossman

You certainly do not know much about plantation life, do you? Slaves worked in the fields from sunup to sundown doing all manner of farm work.

          • Xerxes22

The plantations were busnesses and run as such. Although I don’t doubt that the Black slaves picked peaches, pecans ,watermelons and other crops for the local area, harvesting the the cash crops was their main function. That’s why they were brought over as slaves, not to pick fruits and vegtables. My point is that most Americans lived outside of the South and were not dependant on Black labor. Who do you think harvested the crops in the North and the Midwest? It sure wasn’t Blacks and Mexicans harvesting the wheat in Kansas or the apples in Wisconsin or the potatoes in Maine. It was Whites who did that work and who continued to do that work untill the agra-busness corporations decided (with the help of our treasonest politicians) to import cheap foreign labor.

          • QuinnTheEskimo9

Bossman has been brainwashed by anti-Whites into believing that the Worst Evil Ever On the Face of the Earth is the White Race.

He keeps telling us this without realizing how foolish, silly and miseducated he is. He needs to go back to his marxist cult minders and get a new chip implanted in his head, we’ve already heard and countered all of their lies.

          • QuinnTheEskimo9

You seem to disagree with slavery.

Instead of whining on about something that happened over 150 years ago in the United States, practiced by 1% of the population –slavery that the Whites put an end to in the Western world, BTW, despite what your professors told you –why don’t you get busy putting an end to slavery that is STILL going on across the world?

Did you know over 500,000 young, White males gave their lives to put an end to slavery in the United States? Do you know who William Wilberforce is? No? But I’ll bet you know all about MLK and how he “fought” against evil Whites, LOL.

I’m sure you didn’t learn that at your university, only that Whites are the ONLY ones on earth who ever practiced slavery, ALL of us, 100% of us were involved in the slave trade.

You’ve been miseducated son, to be an anti-White, and you need to get your money back from the cultural marxist indoctrination center that got ahold of you.

Whites didn’t even run the slave industry.

            A$$man is a self-hating troll.

            Another ‘Passover Syndrome’ sufferer.

      • Bartek

What are the majority of Blacks doing right now?
Being paid to procreate? Why are they not expected to work for their EBT cards and Sec 8 rentals?
The only place any HUD housing should ever be built are right next to these corporate farms, complete with contractual employment agreements.

      • QuinnTheEskimo9

Laughable. If you learned that from the cultural marxists at your university, you need to ask for your money back because you have been miseducated about the history of this country.

The United States was conceived, fought for and built from the ground up by White laborers who did the work themselves, not non-White labor.

This country was 90% White before the 1965 immigration flood act. How do you think built all this? Blacks? Mexicans? Do you believe blacks built the buildings they are busy destroying in Detroit? Or maybe Mexicans built the infrastructure, the ports, the buildings in Los Angeles?

White labor is why buildings and bridges are still standing all over the U.S.

      • IBWHITE

You left out the Irish. They are White.

      • Andy

Ever hear the term “Redneck ” ? its white skin burned red by the sun working in the fields !

  • Farmer Herrin and his ilk want us to give our approval to his CRIMES. I think not. Does he think he’s a comedian? In a just world, his ill-gotten gains would be confiscated and he would be sent to prison, but as we know, the law means nothing anymore. My ancestors, farmers all, who worked their land with a mule and a plow, would have burned out Herrin and sent his illegals scattering.

    • QuinnTheEskimo9

The illegals would have been marched to a border fence along the southern border, like Isreal has, pushed across at the point of a gun and told next time they cross the border will be the last time.

  • Einsatzgrenadier

There’s no such thing as “cheap labor”. Cheap labor is the most expensive kind of labor there is. Even skilled labor is more cost-effective.

    • Luca

A wise man once told me, “Cheap labor ain’t good and good labor ain’t cheap”.

    • MBlanc46

Cheap to whom? That’s the question. It’s cheap to the farmer (or manufacturer or construction company) if he can keep the direct costs to himself low and dump the indirect costs on us.

      • QuinnTheEskimo9

It’s a two-fer for the feds: fewer pesky White people and a new, controllable drone army.

  • MBlanc46

I find it amazing that the NYT comes right out and says that it’s all about cheap labor for the employer class.

  • Bartek

If Chucky the corporate plantation owner is so concerned about his Mexicans he should establish a retirement fund for them.

    • QuinnTheEskimo9

I hope the state of California cuts off his water supply…oh wait, they’re doing that now. Guess he didn’t donate enough to the right campaign funds.

  • QuinnTheEskimo9

Chuck Herrin types want a never-ending supply of illegal labor that they can exploit.

Once the current illegal labor force has 8 welfare kids each by as many women living in Section 8 housing, is able to live comfortably off of American taxpayers and no longer needs to do back-breaking field labor, here comes Chuck Herrin asking for another round of endless illegal aliens otherwise his “crops will rot in the fields.”

He’ll get it too, courtesy of the anti-Whites who run the fedgov at all levels. Chuck Herrin wants the labor, TPTB in the fedgov desire fewer Whites to question what they’re doing to the economy and foreign policy. Better to have a drone army of low IQ workers who do what they’re told, are willing to fight “enemies,” overseas and are paid off through fiat welfare money.

Entire states are being ruined through genocidal, White race-replacement, treasonous policies. But then, that’s the point. Soon, the drones will be begging for the all-might fedgov to protect them in all ways and will happily support a Soviet-style, all-knowing, all-listening, police state.

Cheap labor for cheap people. Middle class amerikan divas don’t do housework; they want Conchita to do it for them, and cheaply of course.

  • The Final Solution

I used to have a lot of respect for farmers. There are a lot of them in my family. Salt of the Earth kind of people. Until I saw how they traded honest white man’s work for Mexican laborers. The Mexicans have completely taken over agricultural labor and I don’t respect any farmers who hire these people. Those used to be jobs for white teenagers.
