Study: Muslims to Outnumber Christians Worldwide at 2070

Benjamin Fearnow, CBS Washington, April 2, 2015

{snip}

A new Pew Research Center study finds that with the exception of Buddhists, the world’s major religions will all see an increase in numbers by 2050, although some will make up a smaller percentage from today. Muslims are the only major religious group projected to increase faster than the world’s population as a whole.

Over the coming four decades, Christianity will remain the world’s largest religious affiliation, but Islam will see a major increase that will make the two religions nearly equal in numbers by 2050. In 2010, Christianity was by far the world’s largest religion, with 2.2 billion followers of the faith and composing nearly one-third (31 percent) of the Earth’s 6.9 billion people. Islam was second, with 1.6 billion adherents, or 23 percent of the world’s population.

If current fertility rates and youth populations continue to grow at their current rate, Muslims will make up 10 percent of Europe’s overall population by 2050. Islam is expected to nearly match Christianity in the coming four decades as a result of a “comparatively youthful” population with high fertility rates.

If current trends continue, Muslims will outnumber Christians worldwide around 2070.

Muslims worldwide are projected to see a 73 percent increase while Christians will rise about half that fast (35 percent). The world’s overall population is predicted to rise to 9.3 billion by 2050, also with a 35 percent rate of increase over the same time period.

{snip}

Europe is predicted to be the only region with a decline in its total population. Europe’s Christian population will see a loss of about 100 million people in the coming decades, falling from 553 million to 454 million people. {snip}

Worldwide, Muslims have the highest fertility rate with an average of 3.1 children per woman–far exceeding the replacement level needed to maintain a stable population. Christians are second, with an average 2.7 children per woman. {snip}

Pew’s “The Future of World Religions: Population Growth and Projections, 2010-2050” analysis estimates that four out of every 10 Christians in the world will live in sub-Saharan Africa by the middle of this century.

I don’t believe current population growth rates in Africa are going to continue for much longer. They are unwilling to feed themselves and take basic precautions against the spread of disease.

    • SlizzardAjeosshi
      • Peter Connor

Not going to happen….unless Western politicians decide to starve their citizens to feed Africans. Even then, won’t last long…

        • John Smith

Africans will mug the whole world….

          • Whitetrashgang

No kidding, the whole planet will be unsafe.Well except way north.

    • Realist

The projections don’t speak much about the coming “youth bulge” in the Sub-Saharan African populations. Historically, in Asia and Europe, when a “youth bulge” occurred, it meant longterm fertility. In my opinion, though, where Sub-Saharan Africa is concerned, a youth bulge in the population will prove to be disastrous. It will mean a huge population of teenagers and 20-somethings, full of testosterone and short on logic. It will mean more tribal escalation, more fighting turning into petty warring, more rapes, more unwanted pregnancies and, as Malthus would have it, a boatload of new viruses and bacteria with an able-and-willing host population to thrive on.

And they will scream at the Developed World to give them all the food they need in order to continue to multiply ,and they will get most of what they demand(Peejay in Frisco)

and ultra-liberal White extremists who want to provide them with plane tickets to Minneapolis.

One thing you have to remember about the population pyramid of sub-Saharan Africa is the impact of AIDS. Because this disease strikes primarily people who are in the prime of life, there is a large dent on both sides of the African pyramid from about 25 to about 40. It looks kind of like an hourglass. Western nations are now supplying antiretrovirals, but I don’t know how much effect this is having. Anyway, this population dent may be enough to offset the bulge.

    • Jason Lewis

America is currently keeping them healthy with food and medicine.

    • Charles Martel

If we stop sending out AID most will be dead within 3 months.

      • Sick of it

Aid will no longer be sent once everything falls apart. The blacks will war with the Arabs. Many will die on both sides and their populations will be reduced to normal levels.

        • Whitetrashgang

I think some Asian Countries will find a way to go to war with Africa

          • Sick of it

I figure China will have their hands full with India and anyone else who joins in.

Every cloud has a silver lining.

    • Pa Guy in NJ

I thought the same thing when I heard this news earlier today. If we didn’t keep feeding them, out of some unmerited guilt, they would be in a world of hurt. Eventually we will no longer have the luxury of being the world’s pantry.

      • John Smith

The average farmer in the US is nearing 60 and white. I think we may have problems feeding the immigrant and minority hordes who are taking over here with our race’s shrinking demographic presence.

        • Speedy Steve

Farming is hard work, but the commute is good.

          • Tim

They asked the 500 million dollar jackpot winner what his future plans were. He said, “I plan to continue farming for another 18 months till the money gives out…”

    • Cid Campeador

Oh Well!! Maybe we could bolster the population with some exports from SS Chicago., North & West Philadelphia, Newark, NOLA, Riviera Beach, Gary, Baltimore, Detroit, Harlem, Oakland, Watts, Buffalo, and lots of other areas and cities too numerous to mention.

Their romantic “attachment” to Green Monkeys and some gorilla species make them particularly susceptible to exotic, but fatal diseases…

    • dd47

I’ve calculated that sub-Saharan Africa received $34 billion USD in foreign aid (at the very least) in 2013. I’m sure that they will reach 4,000,000,000 by 2100- 2 billion as soon as 2050. The most useless creatures on Earth- rats, cockroaches- have a habit of surviving even when it is claimed that 95% of what’s on the planet is extinct… cut off the aid to them and we still have to cut off the oil sales which make up huge amounts of their revenue, get countries like China out of Africa, etc.. not going to happen.

  • superlloyd

Something to be celebrated by the usual, useful idiot brigade, no doubt. Celebrating their own deaths at the hand of others. I can think of nothing more perverse and stupid.

    • Pa Guy in NJ

They smugly chant their slogans at us and miss the knife coming up to their throats. Their last sight will be us saying “told you so”, hopefully.

  • Occidental Bookworm

@phorning Sorry, but your reasoning is false. Thanks to better access to Western medicine and more foreign aid, many more African babies will make it to adulthood and have the chance to reproduce themselves. The traditional high African birth rate was also based upon the thought that not all children would make it to adulthood. But thanks to foreign aid we will witness a babyboom in the deprived parts of the world as never seen before.

    • phorning

There has to be a breaking point though. We can’t feed all of them and ourselves too. A serious disease outbreak like the Spanish flu would wreak havoc across the continent. I could be wrong, but I think something will happen to keep the population in check.

      • Charles Martel

Mother nature already made HIV & Ebola to bring the population down but liberals keep sending meds over. Mother nature will have to come up with something Whitey’s meds wont cure.

        • KevinPhillipsBong

She will but Whitey should’ve left the brown diseases in the Brownlands – mutation may endanger YT as much as Dark-E. The mutation that breaks beyond Whitey’s defense of the Darkies may take Whitey with it.

    • KevinPhillipsBong

      Arm Malthus!

    • Brady

A lot of that foreign aid gets pocketed by corrupt African political leaders though.

    • Speedy Steve

The good news is that they murder each other more frequently. There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot we can do about it, except to leave them unjailed and in Africa.

  • Luca

Muslims are unleashing the immigration and population bombs on the Western world. What they lack in technology they make up for with soaring birth rates. Given enough time and numbers, ants can consume an elephant.

  • Anglokraut

This is hardly a surprise, as the under-30 crowd is leaving organized religion. This study doesn’t mean that these people are dropping dead–they’re just leaving superstition and Bronze Age nonsense in the past. Moslems have a harder time with this, as most of them live under hard-line theocracies, and atheism is a beheading offense.
Now if we could master fusion, there would be no need for the Arab’s oil at all. I hope to live to see that day.

    • Sick of it

We don’t need oil. We can get even “modern” backwards energy from sources readily available. It’s a racket.

      • Whitetrashgang

Edison wanted to have it so everyone drove a electric car and had a home windmill to recharge it 100 years ago.Needless to say that wasn’t going to be allowed.

        • Sick of it

Tesla’s radiant energy would likely have been even more spectacular. Alas, same thing.

    • [Guest]

As the white nations are freeing themselves from the shackles of Christianity, though, in which institutions is it becoming increasingly permissible to state inconvenient facts such as, for example, that blacks have significantly lower IQs than white people and that, therefore, racial segregation is a good idea?

Such blasphemy won’t be heard in the temples of secularized society—the schools, corporations, or mainstream media—because racial equality is superstitious nonsense preached by an organized religion called Humanism and enforced by hardline government.

Multiculturalism, radical egalitarianism, racial equality, and a host of other societal cancers are tenets of that organized religion, and it’s the spread of that religion that’s destroying us.

      • SentryattheGate

To err is human, and Christianity gets misinterpreted and misdirected by humans. Don’t confuse that with the truth and the message of Jesus! The West is formed by Christianity; it’s principles, it’s rights for the average man. Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater!

        • [Guest]

I pretty much agree. My point is that the decline of the West and the rise of Humanism as a replacement for Christianity are happening at the same time, and that is no coincidence.

  • Bossman

Infinite is the number of fools.

  • IKUredux

This will not happen. It can’t. It goes against nature. Nature always wins. The only race who has fought nature, and won some battles, is the White race. Once we White Christians are gone, there is no other race who can creditably replace us. The Chinese, while smart, lack initiative and imagination, and, compassion. The Indians, most are not that smart, and, again, lack compassion. The Blacks. Puhleeeeze. They are not even in contention. The Arabs? Yup, they could be the global winners. They are stupid, backwards, but, they have passion for their retarded religion. Compassion is what sets us apart from the rest of the savages. It is also what will be our downfall. I think compassion is a trait that distinguishes the savages from the civilized. But, I do not believe that a trait that is godly, and benevolent, should cause the genocide of the practitioners.

What wins in today’s world is PASSION for your tribe. We Whites need to stop thinking as individuals. Take a page out of the Talmud. We Whites are a distinct BLOOD group, with genomes that we share. We are under hostile assault. We need to fight back.

    ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

    • Charles Martel

East Asians have as well, they had innovation until Emperors started killing off people that questioned the narrative.

      • IKUredux

        I’m sorry, WHAT?

        • Charles Martel

Both china and japan had gone through imperial times when saying anything negative could mark people for death. It was so bad that civil servants had to invent codes like raining frogs, or different types of birds flying backwards to convey things that needed to be fixed but couldn’t be spoken of as it would make the emperor look imperfect. When the Wright brothers made history they realized the math/science was wrong and built the worlds first wind tunnel, while civil servants in Asia learned by rote if any had questioned reality like the Wrights they would be killed.

  • DavidLAlbert

I hesitate to speak on this subject because the moderator has previously chastised me for speaking of “religion.” If I may, Christianity is not a “religion.” Religion is man seeking God; Christianity is God seeking man! You would have to assume, if there is a creator, we would not be left totally in the dark. What kind of creator would leave it to the masses to figure out “the plan?” But what if the “plan” allowed for total freedom of choice? Well, then you would have what the world has created – God in the image of “whosoever believeth.” Of course nefarious characters would take advantage of cowering masses that long for “comfort” in this fallen world. Jesus (whom I believe to be God incarnate) said that he was not of this “world.” This is not just happening out of the “corner” of God’s eye – it has to happen!

  • Peters

Somehow I do not see the importance of the news Muslims outnumbering Christians. It’s the genes, ethnicity, race that matter (to me). A Papua-Guinean or Nigerian who happen to be Christians are still Papua-Guinean and Nigerian. What I want to see are the trends in the worldwide percentage of European people, be they atheists or Christians.

    • Jason Lewis

Christianity used to tie our people together. Now it’s been hijacked. People assume Christians are suppose to be a door mat.

      • Awakened Saxon

Hijacked by whom? It was Christians who converted the Third World to Christianity.

        • George Costanza

I think what he means is that it’s been hijacked by political correctness and do gooderism

        • Pa Guy in NJ

They are pushing diversity hard (just watch TBN), plus many are helping to import muslims-due to their tendency to think we can all get along.

    • Awakened Saxon

All else being equal, it is better for the Third World masses to be Christians than Muslims. Islam compels them to invade new lands and kill non-believers. It adds fuel to the fire.

      • John Smith

It encourages people who are naturally violent to worship violence.

      • Peters

Unlike genes, religion is not permanent. The children of the Third World mass may convert to Islam. The christian black invaders themselves may convert. I may convert, but my daughter will still be the most beautiful white girl. While the child of the black Christian Nigerian will still be.. black.

        • Awakened Saxon

I think you’re missing the point. Of course conversion to Islam does not change someone’s genes. What it does is to organise and encourage the Third World masses to rape and kill whites. It gives them a religious justification for these things. It has done this since the 7th century. Islam is a lot like Marxism in that it rallies the non-white masses against whites.

          • Sam Brown

White people make good Muslims too.
Just look at Chechnya and Bosnia.

          • Peters

I think one needs to be from deep Southern Europe to consider Chechens white.

          • Peters

I still do not agree. A harsher punishment because someone is a Muslim and perhaps encouraged to rape and kill is, in my opinion stupid. I prefer to punish for a deed, not thought. And so if Europe is taken over by unorganized masses of Christian Syrians or Nigerians I will be just as sad as if it were their Muslim cousins who did it.

  • Jason Lewis

It’s gonna happen sooner than that. They’re only looking at current trends in birthrates. They didnt taken into account that when many of these areas become Muslim majority, they will ethnically cleanse that area of Christians.

  • KevinPhillipsBong

Yes, as long as the bacillus remains localized then isolation may kill it. Gods help us if the Latinos begin to prefer the machismo of Islam over the gentle-lambiness of Christianity.

    • John Smith

They are converting in greater numbers than any ethnic/racial group other than negroes from what I’ve been reading.

  • Magician

any prediction that deals with more than 50 years from now is highly likely to be inaccurate

    • George Costanza

Weren’t the Florida Keys supposed to be under water by now? 😉

  • Hammerheart

    Be warned: demographics is destiny

  • Pa Guy in NJ

I heard this on NPR (national propaganda radio) today, they seemed very pleased. They forgot to mention that muslims murdering Christians might help too. Anyway, right after this “news” they reported on the attack in Kenya (I think) in which 150 or so Christians were killed by muslims but they still missed that salient point.

  • John Smith

Not a religious person, but If I have to choose, I’ll take Christians over muslims every time. I also believe that those estimates for Europe’s projected muslim population are too low.

  • Peter Connor

They will be starving long before then, probably with widespread cannabalism–Africa can’t feed itself now.

    • More Africans+fewer White Europeans and Americans=Starvation for the Africans.

  • JohnEngelman

We should stop trying to reduce their death rates.

We should stop letting them enter our countries.

    • ShermanTMcCoy

Indeed. My animosity towards them would be greatly diminished.

  • The Third World will not continue to grow that fast. There will not be enough people in the First World to continue to sustain that growth with foreign aid, exporting jobs, and buying their cheap goods.

  • Light from the East

There is a positive correlation with the number of the 3rd world population growth.

  • The Dude

A sad fact of this era is that the least desirable races and religions breed faster than the rest, and are consequently gradually inheriting the world.

  • Spikeygrrl

I’d love to see many fewer religionists in this world…but by an infusion of common sense, not an infusion of lead.

    • John Smith

Muslims seek to give lead or steel to those who disagree with them, so doing unto them first is probably the best policy.

      • Spikeygrrl

        Agreed.

    • how about this

What do you have against religion? Is it not a unifying force and a source of meaning in life, similar to nationalism?

      • Spikeygrrl

I don’t have anything against it, exactly, for people who need a perceived carrot and stick to lead a decent, moral life. What dismays me is that the whole supernatural edifice — deities, angels, demons, etc. — just isn’t true.

Of course I could be completely wrong. If so, when I die and “wake up” in an afterlife staffed with supernatural whatevers, the joke will be on me.

EXCEPTION: We have a current crop of religionists who get their jollies by exploding things and beheading people, all in order to please their “god.” I am very much against that particular religion, without equivocation or apology.

        • how about this

I judge it basically by its results and in general, religious people (at least if they take the religion seriously) seem to be happier and healthier. I believe it has to do with the effect of faith and a strong sense of community on the ability to deal with stress.

I too used to think it was outrageous and dangerous that people would believe in things they had no evidence for, in line with the “those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities” quote. But now I notice there is quite a difference in behavior between different people who believe equally unlikely (or even impossible) things, so I don’t think it is a threat in itself. Look at the difference in behavior between Scientologists and Mormons, for example.

Also, considering we are supposed to be racial realists here, when you see people of non-White ethnicities behaving violently, do you think religion is a greater influence than race? I am not trying to deny any of the usual criticisms of the Koran or of Islamic law but look at the average IQs for majority-Muslim countries.

          • Spikeygrrl

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion — as I am entitled to mine.

  • Whitetrashgang

Yes in could have 40 years ago but since Nixon the Saudis having been paying off each president to not invest or develop alternative energy .As per NSA documents.

  • Randall Ward

fifty five years from now, no one knows what may be happening, much less the news media.

  • InAFreeCountry

It’s too bad we can’t just pretend Africa isn’t there and just mark it as “Forbidden Zone” on the maps.

  • Fr. John+

“When the Son of Man returns, will he find faith on the Earth?” [Lk. 18:8]

One can only assume from these stats, that the Parousia will occur in our lifetime, then. For if Christians cease from the earth, it is the Earth’s ends. This is the common consent of all Christendom, prior to about 1960. Isn’t it time we learned the lessons on how to forge our plows into swords, as well? Just sayin’….
