Amnesty’s Price: $12,433 for Every Legalized Immigrant Household

Paul Bedard, Washington Examiner, July 12, 2013

A fight has erupted over the costs of granting amnesty to the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in America, with the White House claiming the cash benefits to the Treasury are huge and will slash the deficit, and critics showing it will cost Americans more and increase the deficit.

The White House late Thursday dispatched an email to President Obama’s campaign supporters that provided a video claiming that immigration reform will result in a 5.4 percent growth in GDP as “highly skilled” workers and “entrepreneurs” add to the country’s economic base. No mention was made of low-skilled workers, the bulk of illegal immigrants in the country.

“Here’s one of the best things about immigration reform: It’s going to make our economy a lot stronger,” said the White House. {snip}

Critics are pushing back hard, led by the Heritage Foundation. Among the key points: reform supporters suggest that immigrants will suddenly be paying taxes when they become legal, but that’s already happening.

Heritage is highlighting a chart that details the taxes paid and government services received by all Americans, including illegal immigrants. It shows that after amnesty, immigrants will cost governments $12,433 in benefits over the taxes they pay per year. Over a lifetime of an adult illegal granted amnesty, the difference between benefits received and taxes paid would be a cost to taxpayers of $592,000.

Buried in a report from Robert Rector, the conservative foundation’s authority on poverty, welfare programs and immigration, the chart details taxes paid and benefits received by households headed by an illegal immigrant and how that will change after amnesty is granted.

{snip}

For comparison, non-immigrant families receive federal, state and local benefits such as education, welfare, public safety and health care worth about $310 more than they pay in taxes, said Heritage. And legal immigrant households get about $4,344 more than they pay in taxes.

  • “Andrea Mitchell…NBC News” is beside herself trying to figure out why fiscal conservatives would oppose an amnesty bill that would run up more than six terabucks of extra red ink over the next decade.

    Really? Really.

    • The__Bobster

Wait! Wait! They just released a study showing that amnestying the ugly brown squat monster invaders will actually SAVE us money.

Oh yeah, I believe that….not! That $12,433 cost is not a one-off. It’ll occur every year.

    • Paleoconn

Even the STEM imports, none of whom come from south of the border it should be noted, are no net benefit, given that unemployment in those sectors is also chronically high, not to mention continued depressed wages.

And not to mention the odd industrial and scientific spying by Chinese STEMs.

Even NRO, who are next to useless, concedes that we don’t need STEM imports.

  • So CAL Snowman

If illegal invaders from south of the border are so good for the economy why is California billions of dollars in debt? If these invaders are such incredible economic machines why are their home countries not doing everything in their power to keep these people from leaving?

    • Sick of it

Mexico is happily pushing them into our country because Mexico does not want them.

      • The__Bobster

They are sending us their worst and dumbest, a lot of them pure-blooded Amerinds who can’t even speak Spanish.

        • Jefferson

Most Squat Monsters look pure Amerindian in phenotype, but genetically very few of them are pure Amerindian.

It just that the Caucasian admixture in them is so miniscule, that you can not tell they have any Caucasian blood in them by just looking at their phenotype.

Just like you are not going to see any obvious Caucasian features in the phenotype of the average African American who is genetically 80% Sub Saharan African.

          • Sick of it

It’s because they interbred in a closed system. It’s the same thing with the peoples of India…they look like they have less white blood than they do.

          • The__Bobster

30% of Mexicans are pure-blooded Indians. This is what’s being sent our way.

      • mobilebay

You’re correct, Sick of it, but no Mexican will ever admit that. No matter how long they’ve been here, nor even if American citizenship is forced on them, they will always be Mexicans… never assimilating, nor embracing our language or culture. Today’s illegals are NOT yesterday’s immigrants.

        • Sick of it

To be blunt, not too many immigrants from the 20s onward have assimilated into the American way of thinking, thus our current situation. We brought over a ton of socialists who remained socialists, taught their children to be socialists, and infiltrated every institution in our society.

“Here’s one of the best things about immigration reform: It’s going to make our economy a lot stronger,” said the White House. {snip}”

Are these people THAT stupid or are they just good liars? My belief is that it is the latter. First of all, it’s around FORTY million, NOT eleven million. Secondly, with 25 million Americans out of work, how is giving amnesty to FORTY million, most of whom are poor and unskilled with high birthrates and a high usage of benefits, going to make the economy a lot stronger? It will only destroy this country.

    • Sick of it

Destroying this country is the plan. A successful America won’t want to be a part of a one world government…you know, a corrupt organization like the U.N.

    • itdoesnotmatter

kjh64, you say, It will only destroy this country.
That’s the point. Obummer, et al.’s plan from day 1.

  • dogbone

Now if the immigrant had to pay me and every other white person $12,433 to come in the US, I would be more open to it.

I think some Arab countries will only give citizenship to people who bring lots of money into their country, and even then they are still selective.

    • Sick of it

And over there you have no choice but to respect their cultural beliefs, practices, and way of life. If you don’t, they usually kill you. Here, we embrace it as ‘diversity’.

  • bigone4u

Obama’s back on crack again. Ignore the numbers he’s pushing. Like much of his agenda, its Obama’s brain on drugs talking.

  • Spartacus

“Here’s one of the best things about immigration reform: It’s going to make our economy a lot stronger,” said the White House.”

The donkey-show industry will certainly fluorish .

  • IKantunderstand

Frankly, I don’t care whether amnesty costs a nickel. That is not the point. Despite everything, despite being called xenophobic, racist, etc.( I forget all the other words used to describe White people whose ancestors made this country what it is), the fact of the matter remains: We are in a war for our very survival. Who really believes that conditions in this country will improve with “minorities” in charge? To be fair, let’s discuss those non- White countries who are successful. Yeah, I know, I really couldn’t think of any either. What really irritates me, is that there is a push to include EVERYBODY into Western Civilization, regardless of the stretch required. I would say:”Well, gosh, why would minorities go along with this total fabrication?” But they do! And, White people(some are not Red Sea pedestrians) are behind this movement. Also, could we please stop calling the so-called minorities, minorities. THE ONLY MINORITIES ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH ARE WHITE PEOPLE.

    • Sick of it

The really sick thing is that we were once the majority. From majority to 7-17%. This is commonly called genocide.

      • IstvanIN

        or suicide.

  • KenelmDigby

Whenever a politician or an economist claims that ‘such and such’ a measure (usually uncontrolled immigration but often ‘free trade’) will add ‘x% economic growth’ to the economy, they are invariably telling lies.
It cons the gullible, like it supposed to do, but these statements are always but always founded on the most questionable and challengeable of assumptions and theoretical considerations that simply cannot be measured or quantified, and therefore are worthless as a factual basis.
On the other hand, Robert Rector’s contention that on the average immigrants represent a massive fiscal drain on the US taxpayer IS based on quanifiable and measurable fact that simply CANNOT be disputed by anyone looking at the subject. ‘Axiomatic’ is the word I would use to describe it since these are hard and fast concrete FACTS and not theory based on theory, facts that are observable and measurable to anyone who cares to got out there, unbiasedly, and actually do the research. True facts in the same way that T.Rex bones are true facts.

  • haroldcrews

Additionally it must be kept in mind that the additional benefits that the illegals will be receiving after any amnesty will only increase the amount of funds they will be able to send to their nation of origin.

  • GeneticsareDestiny

“Over a lifetime of an adult illegal granted amnesty, the difference between benefits received and taxes paid would be a cost to taxpayers of $592,000.”

And remember, this probably does not include any money we’d be spending as a result of them having children here. All that K-12 schooling and subsidized college is an entirely separate cost.

Amnesty will be the death of this nation.

  • Alexandra1973

Given that they breed like rabbits….

  • Transpower

I understand that most of the illegal aliens have somewhere between an 8th grade and 10th grade education. It’s ludicrous to think that they are going to “drive the economy.”

  • fuzzypook

I am so sick of hearing/reading 11 million illegals. The number is MUCH HIGHER. The real figure is somewhere between 20 and 40 million. The MSM has been using that 11 mil number for at least 20 years.

    • The British government and media are the same. It was reported last week that they had “miscounted” (left off) around 500,000 people off their records of who has arrived (just in the last few years) – which I think was stated was the equivalent to a large city like Manchester here.

Another news story here claims there are over 500,000 asylum cases in the backlog and how at current paces of processing it would take 37 years to clear it up (and they are still arriving!).

Yet, when it comes to the number of “illegals” in the UK, the figure often banded about is less than 1 Million! That is, for all time, not just in the last five years or so.

How can anybody not be cynical and work on a more realistic rule of thumb of multiplying the government figures by at least three?

They have not got a clue who is here, and have previously admitted it, so I think we can be forgiven for taking their estimations with a pinch of salt.

      • KenelmDigby

I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that it was not a ‘miscount’ but a deliberate deception by ommission.
Even British governmental departments simply cannot be trusted to be truthful regarding anything to do with ‘immigration’.
        – If they can lie so blatntly about elemental tallies of numbers such as this one, just imagine all the myriad of other lies they tell regarding immigration.

  • “White House claims “skilled workers” and “entrepreneurs” will drive the economy.”……

    That’s completely right.

They *will* drive the economy………right into the ground.

    • KenelmDigby

Apparently,in Britain, a ‘skilled worker’ is the man waiting the tables in a curry-house.

      • Much like how a rise in ‘self employed business creators and entrepreneurs’ under Labour turned out to include (no doubt hundreds of thousands of) Roma ‘Big Issue’ street sellers.

Not only were they classed as self employed business starters, but that classification also allowed them to bring in the rest of the brood and collect welfare.

In government-world, if we import 500,000 Big Issue sellers, we are going to be reaching for the stars with entrepreneurial gusto!

Watch out India, China, Brazil, the “New British” are coming with their kebab house staff and Big Issue magazines!

  • WR_the_realist

Even the “skilled” immigrant workers are basically just taking jobs from skilled American workers. Businesses like H-1b workers because they’re cheap, not because they’re brilliant. I’ve worked with H-1b workers. Many of them are competent, none were geniuses and they were certainly no better on average than American employees.
