The Rape and Murder of 12-Year-Old Lola May Have Been Occult Ritual, Reports French Journalist

Ever since an Algerian woman, Dahbia Benkired, allegedly raped and murdered 12-year-old Lola Daviet in Paris in 2022, there have been rumors that the gruesome murder was connected to occult practices. Now, the horrific occult theory behind her murder has come more into light after the first day of the Algerian woman’s trial.
French journalist Amaury Bucco, who is covering the trial for Valeurs, stated on X that investigators had a number of solid leads to support the theory of witchcraft.
“Various elements of the investigation point to the lead of witchcraft: The investigator, for example, recounts having heard a witness during the investigations who would recount that Dahbia had a discussion a weekend before the events, in Pornic. Friends of this witness had started a philosophical conversation about zero and death, which would have interested Dahbia, who would then have mentioned an Algerian custom for finding treasure,” wrote Bucco on X. He has been providing live updates from the courtroom throughout the ongoing trial, which took nearly three years to actually bring Dahbia Benkired into a courtroom.
From there, the details grow darker, including a fringe North African custom involving the killing of a White child with blonde hair.
“According to this custom, she would have recounted, one must kill a White and blonde child and cut off their head, then observe the direction of the blood flow to find a treasure,” writes Bucco.
“Other elements point to a context of witchcraft, Dahbia having, for example, stated that she had collected Lola’s blood in a bottle and drunk it. According to the investigations, Dahbia also conducted searches on her phone to find out how to perform a human sacrifice,” he continues.
Notably, one fact that has been established is that Lola had the numbers 1 and 0 drawn on her hands and feet, pointing to an occult element to her death.
The fact that investigators have now confirmed that Dahbia Benkired was searching for information about human sacrifice before the murder of Lola also raises suspicions.
Whether this theory is ever confirmed remains to be seen, but certainly Lola herself was a young girl with blonde hair and blue eyes.
In fact, such a tradition does indeed in North Africa and the broader African regions involving the ritual use of children, often with specific traits such as being blonde or albino.
“Specifically, in Morocco and some North African traditions, the concept of ‘Zuhri’ children exists—these are children believed to possess supernatural abilities to locate hidden treasures. The ritual can involve reading Quranic verses and sometimes spilling the blood of the Zuhri child as a sacrifice to appease spirits or djinns associated with the treasure. The child may also be left in a near-death state or killed as part of these ceremonies. This practice is tied to beliefs in djinns guarding treasures and the power of the child to uncover such wealth,” according to an article on the topic on Wikipedia. In addition, kidnappings of such children have been reported in Algeria itself.
Video footage, which has been leaked to Le Parisien after the first day of trial, shows Dahbia Benkired carrying the corpse of Lola around in a suitcase in a Paris bar.
More details have also come to light regarding Dahbia Bankired’s background, although her past still remains shrouded in mystery.
So far, her two sisters have refused to speak to investigators, and both her parents are dead. The investigation has relied on a few loosely related witnesses and acquaintances of Dahbia Bankired’s, and they all highlight the strange background of the suspect.
As for Dahbia Bankired herself, she has given different versions of her checkered past to investigators. From what has been established, she was born in Algiers, the youngest of three children.
However, once her mother left for France, she was given to her aunts, while her father, a violent alcoholic, was imprisoned in Italy. The aunts were prostitutes, and they allegedly forced the young girl to listen to their various sexually explicit tales and even made her watch pornographic films. She was also allegedly forced to fondle men in the family apartment, as well as in a local forest.
At the age of 17 or 18, she left for Algiers to France, in 2016, where she lived in a bar hotel together with her sisters and mother. Dahbia Bankired enrolled in school there, but was reportedly often absent from her classes and internship related to the catering industry. Nevertheless, she obtained her vocational diploma due to her intellectual abilities and the efforts of her teachers.
However, once her mother and father died, both of cancer, she lost her apartment due to her lack of income. The locks were changed, and the electricity was shut off. She also lost her identity papers and entered into an irregular situation in France.
She became addicted to cannabis and allegedly began prostituting herself, both on her own behalf and at the request of her aunts and her ex-partner, Moustapha. As Valeurs reports, however, “Dahbia Benkired seems to maintain a distant relationship with the truth. As if, over time, she had built a world for herself to cover her tracks. The head of the investigation would also say that the more the investigations progressed, the less clear Dahbia’s life trajectory seemed.”
One police officer called to the stand during the trial says he still does not know the true motive for the murder, even after three years of investigations, but Lola was forced to undress and was raped in both her anal and vaginal cavities, as lesions and lacerations in her genitalia revealed. She was also stabbed and suffocated with thick black tape. The forensic doctor described during the trial today that Lola had particularly deep anal penetration wounds that were inflicted approximately 30 minutes before her death. She was also stabbed so many times that it was impossible to assess how many times she was actually stabbed.
The suspect used a pair of scissors, but also inflicted two blows to the face with a 20-centimeter Ikea knife.
Lola died in agony in an apartment hallway while Dahbia Benkired drank a cup of coffee.
While the Algerian may have never secured any treasure from the murder of Lola Daviet, certainly a treasure was robbed from the Daviet family.
Lola Daviet’s father, Johan, passed away in 2024 from grief at the age of 49. He fell into depression, lost his family, was divorced, and quit working following the death of his daughter.
“I’m depressed and I’ve fallen back into a state of pain,” he said, while also describing his descent into alcoholism.
