Soccer-Urawa Reds Punished for Fans’ “Japanese Only” Banner

Reuters, March 13, 2014

The J-League has ordered Urawa Red Diamonds to play an upcoming home match behind closed doors due to a banner deemed as discriminatory being displayed by one of their fans in a recent home game.

A Reds’ fan displayed the banner on Saturday which had the words “Japanese Only” written on it, with the club fielding an all-Japanese lineup against Sagan Tosu in the match.

JapaneseOnly

“There are various ways of determining what constitutes discrimination,” league chairman Mitsuru Murai was quoted as saying by the Kyodo news agency on Thursday.

“But what is important is not so much why discrimination occurs, but how the victim perceives it and in this case, the acts must be considered nothing short of discriminatory.

“Over the last several days . . . these acts have had unexpected social repercussions both domestic and abroad, and it is clear that they have damaged the brand of not just the J-League but of the entire Japanese football community.”

The former Asian Champions League winners, who have an average attendance of over 37,000, had also been sanctioned in the past when their supporters taunted foreign players of the opposition.

Following Thursday’s sanction, the club has banned their supporters from displaying any kind of signs and banners at future home games.

Why shouldn’t they have “japanese only” if that’s what they want? It’s their country and their soccer field.

    • They don’t like Chinese or Koreans very much.

      • Oil Can Harry

Then when the Japanese move to the US and meet blacks and hispanics they say “Ya know, those Chinese and Koreans might not be so bad after all.”

        • Charles W.

You would be hard pressed to find a more miserable and arrogant race of people than Koreans. They are natural born shysters. Ask any American GI who’s been stationed there.

          • Sick of it

They don’t have anything on the Chinese in that regard.

          • Strider73

All the more reason to sell the ROK whatever weapons it needs (including nukes) to successfully deter or crush a North Korean attack, then get the hell out of there. Korea is not worth another drop of American blood.

          • benvad

We’re there to balance the power for our interest, really. Keep them occupied, that’s the name of the game.

          • WhiteGuyInJapan

I never understood the arrogance of the Koreans. They have produced nothing besides kim chee in over 1,000 years. Virtually none of the sophistication of traditional Chinese or Japanese culture; no great works of philosophy or architecture. Hmm, maybe that explains the eggshell egos.

          • Fighting_Northern_Spirit

I used to work in a place that had a diverse and sizeable Middle Eastern clientele – Iranians, Armenians, Jews and assorted Arabs – and each had a prickly, arrogant ethnocentrism. After working there awhile, it dawned on me that this was a natural consequence of people evolving in a relatively small area over a large expanse of time. Those who didn’t have an innate sense of their genetic and cultural superiority would’ve been exterminated, expelled or absorbed. Those who did survived as a distinct people. I imagine the Koreans had a similar experience trying to resist domination or absorption by the Chinese and Japanese.

          • Charles W.

I would have to agree with your theory, but that doesn’t excuse their behavior. Japan also spent eons resisting outside invasion; albeit they had the advantage of defending an island as opposed to a peninsula.

However the Vietnamese have a similar history to Koreans, and Vietnamese are nowhere near as emotionally dysfunctional.

          • benvad

The reason being? They’re winners and Koreans are losers.

          • Charles W.

Are Koreans really losers though? They still have their own sovereign country and possess one of the most inbred bloodlines on the planet.

          • benvad

They play the victim card for all it’s worth, that in “my books”, makes them losers first and foremost.

          • Charles W.

In that sense I agree. They are losers in the purest sense of the word.

          • benvad

Only English speaking whites are the only ones who don’t get it.

          • Magician

Isn’t that a matter of subjectivity?

When you see a sumo wrestling match, do you find what the sumo wrestlers are doing so classy, admirable, artistic or entertaining?

As for me, no, I am never pleased or excited to see two virtually naked, morbidly obese East Asian men trying to push each other off a certain circular area. However, if the native people in Japan or any visitor in Japan loves watching sumo wrestling, then I have no reason to tell them that it is wrong to like sumo wrestling, or not to like sumo wrestling.

I am not saying sumo wrestling is bad. I am saying, it is a matter of subjectivity. What some people like, is not necessarily what others like.

          • Charles W.

It’s pretty difficult to deny that Japan has produced a beautiful, unique, extensive culture. Bonsai, Noh theater (which Ezra Pound compared to Shakespeare), kabuki, haiku, woodblock prints, samurai swords, kimono, etc. Even Hitler gave them credit where it was due.

Korea on the other hand is a dump. Take a trip there and see for yourself.

          • benvad

            Too racist.

          • Magician

Have you and WhiteGuyInJapan been beaten up by a Korean male or rejected by a Korean woman when you asked her out? I am getting tired of watching the two of you keeping on insisting baseball is superior to hockey

          • Charles W.

No, I’ve just had enough experience around them to know what they’re really like. Years ago I thought they were essentially the same as Chinese and Japanese. How wrong I was.

Even foreigners living in Korea who actually like Koreans will admit to you that there is something deeply ‘wrong’ with them.

          • Charles W.

By the way I could ask you the same question about blacks.

Why do you feel so negatively about blacks? Are you jealous of them? Did a big bad black brotha beat you up, or did some fly sista dis you when you tried to pick her up?

            *rolls eyes*

          • Magician

you and WhiteGuy were beaten up by a Korean woman?

          • Guest

            😉

          • Charles W.

I always say, they are the most ethnocentric people in the world with no reason to be. They think being Korean is a gift from God, and they take enormous pride even when some embarrassing garbage like “Gangnam Style” garners worldwide attention. They also have delusions that Korea created everything and influenced all of Asia, known in Japan as “Urinara Fantasy.”

I never realized how nuts Koreans were until a Japanese friend explained it to me. Once I observed their behavior with a keen eye, I realized that everything he said was true. They really are a deeply disturbed race of people, prone to violent emotional outbursts and best to be avoided.

      • Charles W.

There are many Koreans living in Japan who masquerade as Japanese. As much as Japanese supposedly hate Koreans, the “Japanese” Koreans hate Japan and Japanese people even more, and engage in all sorts of skulduggery to undermine the country. They cry ‘discrimination’ even though no one forces them to be in Japan and they are free to move to Korea at any time.

I would bet money that a “Japanese” Korean had something to do with this story making it to the headlines in the first place.

        • Some friends of ours are a Japanese guy and a Korean gal. Things were socially difficult for them. I thought Sachiko was Japanese.

      • WhiteGuyInJapan

And the Chinese and Koreans in turn generally hate the Japanese.

        • The occupation of Korea and World War Two might have had something to do with that.

          • IstvanIN

The Japanese invested quite a bit into the infrastructure of Korea and Formosa, making both much more modern than they were before becoming colonies of Japan. They made their cities more modern and cleaner and actually built factories in both nations. It wasn’t all bad.

          • Taiwanese don’t seem to hate Japanese the way Koreans do; probably they were treated a bit better. Taiwanese conscripts in the Japanese Imperial Army had a very high reputation.

          • WhiteGuyInJapan

The Japanese occupation was relatively benevolent and even beneficial to the Taiwanese. The Jpn built factories, employed the locals and left the factories running after the war. Even taught the locals Japanese.
Having been to Taiwan twice myself, I met many people who speak Jpn and listen to J-pop.
A world of difference from China and South Korea.

          • Charles W.

There is a funny meme online with a photo of Korean dirt farmers that says something like “Come see the Korea pre-Japan Occupation Stone Age lifestyle theme park! Thank you Japan!”

          • Charles W.

The Taiwanese are a pleasant and civilized people, which can hardly be said of Koreans.

  • Einsatzgrenadier

What ever happened to freedom of association? If diversity was a good thing, white people would naturally seek it out. Instead, they flee from ethnic and cultural diversity. It’s natural and healthy to have an affinity for one’s race and nation. OTOH The liberal multicultural extremists and immigration enthusiasts are the ones who are abnormal because they despise race and nation.

Because of the exaggerated sense of individualism prevalent among whites, we have deprived ourselves of that sense of racial community that makes life worth living, a sense of racial community that existed before the leftist destruction of the traditional America. Unfortunately, America has been poisoned at the very foundations by the ideals of the 18th century French Enlightenment. There is no reform of US international and domestic policy. Only the transformation of America into a white ethnostate can restore this sense of racial community.

  • Charles W.

Japan is the one non-white nation that is also on the NWO radar. They’ve been clamoring for Japan to open its borders to the third world for a long time.

You would never see a story like this about a black country. It wouldn’t even register a blip.

    • Fighting_Northern_Spirit

It seems like the NWO is getting its way. From what I’ve read Japan seems to be salami-slicing its way into allowing “guest workers”.

      • Svigor

$100 says if they do, the “racial diversity” will be other east Asians, predominately northeast Asians. And Japan Inc., PR dept. will play up that diversity as if the Koreans and Han are Bantus and Pashtun.

    • DaveMed

Lol. Like anyone wants to move into a Black country.

    • benvad

Everyone forgets the Japanese are not brainwashed, guilt ridden altruistic creatures. Have noticed their are no jewish areas in Japan? The only representatives in government are ethnic Japanese, minorities aren’t citizens, usually.

      • Charles W.

“Japanese” Koreans (“zainichi”) fulfill that role in Japan. They dominate the mass media, organized crime, the vice businesses (gambling, pachinko, hostess bars, etc.).

        • benvad

I can’t really tell, many of the Uyoku are actually of Korean ethnicity. Their always ramming the Korean consulates with protests or vans!!! I mind my business and go about my chores. They can set fire to each other for all I care.

          • Charles W.

Yup. Many of the Uyoku are in fact Korean. Controlled opposition, similar to neoconservatives here in the US.

  • r j p

What’s wrong with a Japanese Only Section?
They have student only sections at NCAA football games.

  • Martel

Does Engelman’s brain explode while reading this?
His flawed theories about white nationalism are continually debunked, you can observe me doing so under previous articles unless moderators have inexplicably deleted my comments, and they offer no remedy for explaining the Japanese situation either, nor about the situation of American Asians. Taylor documents trends which show Asian Americans are just as keen to live in segregated communities as blacks, Hispanics and Caucasians in chapter seven of his latest book. It seems Asians are not the miraculous, God send creatures he thinks they are, like Europeans, their evolutionary instincts differ little from us despite their supposedly slightly higher average intelligence. This is why immigration from Asian nations is just harmful to social stability as immigration from other regions.

    • Michael Mason

It’s Rabbi Engelman to you, sir.

    • Romulus

Of course, your right. Englepuke is just as foolish as they come. (This is unusually polite for me)
Over the course of a year, of reading his commentary, there is little that I can find to agree with and I intuit that his somewhat amicable statements might just be posturing.

    • 2eRep

I spent over thirty years living, working and fighting in Asia, Yitzhak Engleman knows nothing of Asia,

    • Svigor

East Asian immigration is more harmful than from other regions; yellows and whites assimilate very easily, making racial death via amalgamation that much less painful.

      • Martel

I don’t know how easily whites and Asians mingle, Asians tend to be socially awkward and overly timid which hurts their standing. Many white males are driven towards Asian girls because they appear to be easily domesticated and are unsure about white females because of the aggressive and irrational feminist outlooks these women tend to have. Either way, its not something we should be welcoming.

  • WhiteGuyInJapan

With 10+ years in Japan, I found the Japanese to be quite two-faced and hypocritical about all this. They are collectively quite proud of Japanese baseball players in the US but will complain about seeing foreigners become sumo champions. ( Indeed, some of my adult students have expressed both viewpoints in English to me!)
Even when they go overseas, they will sometimes avoid contact with non-Japanese. In Bangkok, I have seen “Japanese Only” signs on club doors. Not a big deal, move on to the next bar.
The Japanese import thousands of Westerners to be English teachers and it is a mandatory subject for 6-8 years in school, yet the general level of English here is still very low. Heck, most Japanese English teachers can’t speak much English and know virtually nothing about the outside world.
The Japanese brag about being “eco” with their recycling program but view criticism of whaling as “racist”. High context culture; they ignore the actual issue and just see White people (Greenpeace, etc.) criticizing them. Because racism.
Generalizing again, Japan seems to want to be “international” (hosting the Olympics, etc.) and an isolated nation at the same time. I find more consistency in North Korea.
PS-I love living in Japan. Just spewing a bit.

    • LACountyRedneck

Wish U.S. Whites were more like them.

    • Charles W.

Sounds like a healthy, proud national culture to me. No wonder the internationalists hate them.

    • I don’t regard whaling as inherently wrong. It needs to be done in a sustainable manner, and since they take a long time to reach full size, this requires care. I like bacon, but pigs are smart enough to know what is happening at the slaughterhouse. Cattle are dumb, so long as they don’t see other cattle getting pasted, but pigs know anyway. Does this give me any moral qualms about eating bacon? Nope; as a human, I am an apex-predator.

      • IstvanIN

The whale population is so small, this isn’t 1840, that I feel it is time to leave them alone. We certainly don’t need to eat them, even if it is part of Japanese, Eskimo, Inuit, Icelandic or Norwegian culture. Modern whaling ships give the whales no chance. Cattle and pigs, on the other hand, we can raise to our hearts content on farms, with no chance of causing an extinction event. In fact the breeds we eat were bred specifically for us to eat, or milk in the case of cows.

        • The whaling industry put itself out of business by overharvesting, rather like the buffalo hunters and some Third World logging operations.

  • IstvanIN

Am I reading this right: this game was played in Japan between two Japanese teams, one all ethnic Japanese and one with non-Japanese players? The Japanese fans prefer Japanese teams have Japanese players? Do I have it right?

    • Some of their best sumo wrestlers have been Hawaiians for some time, and lots of Japanese aren’t very happy about that. Polynesians naturally get scary-big, even without loading up on carbohydrates, which gives them an advantage in sumo.

      • Svigor

Polynesians (or some Pacific Islander group, can’t remember which) are also chock full of that aggression gene, whatsit – MAOI, MAOI inhibitor, something like that?

      • dd121

I guess it’s just my own biases but I think Sumo is the dumbest GD sport ever invented.

        • Baseball is also very boring. The only team sport I ever played was armed conflict. It is pretty scary and not as fun as downhill skiing at heinous speed.

    • WhiteGuyInJapan

Actually, no. The sign was about the seating arrangements of the fans. That group of 20 or so attendees, who are not necessarily representative of all soccer fans in Japan, wanted a Japanese only section in the stadium. (Still puzzled here; were there a lot of foreigners in attendance at that game? Not likely.)
I have been to some baseball games in Japan and the attendees do segregate themselves by team affiliation, level of enthuasiam (from mild cheering to lunatic screaming), etc. These guys took it to an extreme and have been criticized for doing so.
While I’m at it, you should see the “progressive” Western expats here going ballistic about this. “They don’t deserve the Olympics” or comparisons with Birmingham lunch counters. My schadenfreude meter is all the way to the right when I see these myopic, deluded white liberals raging at guiltessly (and cluelessly)ethnocentric Japanese.

      • Fighting_Northern_Spirit

I noticed on Youtube that there is a disturbing number of American blacks, and browns from all over the western hemisphere who are into J-Pop and K-Pop, and who aspire to teach English (LOL) in Japan, Korea and elsewhere in Asia. While it may amuse some to see blacks dressed in cosplay garb on the streets of Shibuya, I can’t imagine the average Japanese is thrilled by their presence in Japan.

        • IstvanIN

So they can rape Japanese and Korean girls, no doubt. Let’s be real, they are a ton better looking than any African female.

          • Fighting_Northern_Spirit

I’m that’s part of it (male sexual desire), but I’ve seen black and brown women into it too. Some of it is an attraction to a more superior culture than their own, but one that isn’t White so they won’t feel like “sell outs” or “oreos”.

          • Charles W.

If you want a laugh sometime look at all the vids on YouTube of black males living in Japan because they say they got tired of white racism in the States. They claim that the Japanese don’t judge them for being black the same way that whites do, they don’t get stopped by police as much, etc. What these idiots fail to realize is that the only reason blacks are viewed any less negatively in Japan is because they haven’t reached critical mass yet enough that the average Japanese can put two and two together and realize what blacks are really like, as opposed to what’s depicted on the TV screen.

          • IstvanIN

I have seen videos of their monkey shines on subway cars and buses in Japan, Korea and China. I am sure those people and their governments are not stupid.

          • Charles W.

Yes but blacks are generally depicted very positively on Japanese TV. Not surprising since “Japanese” Koreans run the Japanese media.

To my knowledge there is no negrophilia on Korean TV. Again, not surprising since Korean media is run by Koreans for Koreans.

          • Charles W.

Check out this clip from Japanese TV about how great and cool it is for a Japanese woman to have an African husband. Dollars to donuts there was a Korean behind it:

            YouTube dot com/watch?v=mr2zPbrMUGM

          • benvad

Actually no, they don’t have a clue, whatsoever. Well they aren’t dumb enough to continually let them in, that’s for sure.

These people have short term visas and eventually the return back to America. I’ve lived here for iver ten years now and the instances of crying over racism has been blacks and American white liberals defending them.

So funny how the Japanese just pretend to not notice any of the complaints.

I am sure black men would not mind one tiny bit

By the way I am starting to see young black men going out with East Asian women nowadays

It is still rare but in the past I never saw it

          • I would not with that on anyone.

          • Charles W.

A Korean female coworker once told me “American is everyone’s country but Korea is just for Koreans.” That said I think they could use some more diversity over there.

          • benvad

That’s the nonsense America is broadcasting to the planet, why would they think differently.

We’re (Whites) liable to lose our jobs, or be ostracized if we don’t tow the multiculturalism party line.

God I hate what we’ve turned into.

  • IstvanIN

The US was stupid for allowing any non-White immigration at any time in our history. We were correct in putting them in internment camps, they were a potential 5th column. On the other hand I respect the Japanese sticking up for their own, something we should learn, or relearn.

Well at least I am glad that I am seeing none of the “East Asian women love white men!” in this thread.

Most Koreans in Japan identify on paper as “Japanese.” In reality they consider themselves Korean, and network with other Koreans as a fifth column in Japan.

  • Svigor

I have a huge problem with this. As much as I hate White racists, I hate non-White racists even more.

Please tell me you were being funny. Wait, let me put that another way: please tell me you were being funny on purpose.

  • Martel

You hate ‘white racists’ because society told you to do so. If you look to the United States, you will see that much behaviour which is considered racist’ if whites do it is openly done by blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Jews and other peoples. Blacks are allowed to claim pride in their race, and actively work to protect their ethnic interests. When whites do the same, it is suddenly considered ‘racist’.

There is no legitimate definition for ‘racism’ because there is no such thing. The correct term is ‘ethnic conflict’.

  • benvad
