Diabetes Risk Gene from ‘Neanderthals’

Paul Rincon, BBC News, December 25, 2013

A gene variant that seems to increase the risk of diabetes in Latin Americans appears to have been inherited from Neanderthals, a study suggests.

We now know that modern humans interbred with a population of Neanderthals shortly after leaving Africa 60,000-70,000 years ago.

This means that Neanderthal genes are now scattered across the genomes of all non-Africans living today.

Details of the study appear in the journal Nature.

The gene variant was detected in a large genome-wide association study (GWAS) of more than 8,000 Mexicans and other Latin Americans. The GWAS approach looks at many genes in different individuals, to see whether they are linked with a particular trait.

People who carry the higher risk version of the gene are 25% more likely to have diabetes than those who do not, and people who inherited copies from both parents are 50% more likely to have diabetes.

The higher risk form of the gene—named SLC16A11—has been found in up to half of people with recent Native American ancestry, including Latin Americans.

Drug hope

The variant is found in about 20% of East Asians and is rare in populations from Europe and Africa.

The elevated frequency of this variant in Latin Americans could account for as much as 20% of these populations’ increased prevalence of type 2 diabetes—the origins of which are complex and poorly understood.

“To date, genetic studies have largely used samples from people of European or Asian ancestry, which makes it possible to miss culprit genes that are altered at different frequencies in other populations,” said co-author Jose Florez, associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School in Massachusetts.

“By expanding our search to include samples from Mexico and Latin America, we’ve found one of the strongest genetic risk factors discovered to date, which could illuminate new pathways to target with drugs and a deeper understanding of the disease.”

The team that discovered the variant carried out additional analyses, in collaboration with Svante Paabo of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology.

They discovered that the SLC16A11 sequence associated with risk of type 2 diabetes is found in a newly sequenced Neanderthal genome from Denisova Cave in Siberia.

Analyses indicate that the higher risk version of SLC16A11 was introduced into modern humans through interbreeding between early modern humans and Neanderthals.

It is not unusual to find Neanderthal genes. About 2% of the genomes of present-day non-Africans were inherited from this distinctive human group, which lived across Europe and western Asia from about 400,000-300,000 years ago until 30,000 years ago.

But scientists are only just beginning to understand the functional implications of this Neanderthal inheritance.

“One of the most exciting aspects of this work is that we’ve uncovered a new clue about the biology of diabetes,” said co-author David Altshuler, who is based at the Broad Institute in Massachusetts.

SLC16A11 is part of a family of genes that code for proteins that transport metabolites—molecules involved in the body’s various chemical reactions.

Altering the levels of the SLC16A11 protein can change the amount of a type of fat that has been implicated in the risk of diabetes. These findings suggest that SLC16A11 could be involved in the transport of an unknown metabolite that affects fat levels in cells and thereby increases risk of type 2 diabetes.

“The variant is found in about 20% of East Asians and is rare in populations from Europe and Africa.”

Ironic considering the Neanderthal were mostly European. We got some of their genes, too. But apparently what we got kicks ass.

  • Aren’t blacks most likely to have diabetes?

    • IstvanIN

probably due to their rampant obesity as opposed to anything genetic.

    • NeanderthalDNA

Yeah, I admit to being kind of confused here.

      • El_Baga_Doucha_Libtard

Asians actually have more (known) Neanderthal DNA than Europeans do. I was surprised by that when I read it.

        • NeanderthalDNA

It’s all unraveling so fast. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

I’m just waiting to find out what that up to 30% possible archaic DNA in blacks comes from. My guess is some form of our old buddy, homo erectus.

          • homo ferus africanus

          • El_Baga_Doucha_Libtard

Even though we (apparently) have less Neanderthal DNA than the Asians do, I’m quite certain that we have more of the novelty-seeking genetic alleles.

I’ve read many people on Amren speculate about the intelligence of whites vs East Asians and I’ve never really found a good time to mention an article that I wrote about it on my blog. If you Google “Are Asians Creative,” my article should be the first link (the blog is the Pesky Truth).

My entire premise is that whites are smart and crazy. We have a much higher incidence of the 7 repeat allele of the DRD4 gene and we also have the longer alleles of the 5-HTT gene, which is responsible for our higher levels of individualism.

I know that a lot of people do not agree with what Engleman says about East Asians, but he does make some good points. The fact is, however, that there’s just something special about us (Europeans) and I think that it’s our high verbal intelligence combined with our higher incidence of psychopathy.

          • NeanderthalDNA

“My entire premise is that whites are smart and crazy.”
Ha ha! That’s a pretty insightful observation I think.
I’m quite open to the possibility that comparing East Asian and White European brains may be a little like apples and oranges. A little. The raw measurement may indeed miss something, though I’m loath to go the lame-o sell-out-o path of “multiple intelligences” as some sort of obfuscatory feel-good explain-away for that 5-6 points of difference.
I also have postulated that 5 average points of lower IQ could correlate well some kind of tipping point in regard to risk taking behavior. Perhaps Whites took some dumber risks than Orientals – sometimes they crashed and burned but sometimes the brighter types prevailed and that big dumb risk…
            PAID OFF BIG TIME BABY!
The aggregate result of this meme over time could indeed have resulted in a civilization of slightly lower IQ utterly dominating a slightly higher IQ civilization.
Who knows, eh? Just a possibility I’ve thought on.

          • El_Baga_Doucha_Libtard

East Asians have told me that they think believe that they are, on average, more intelligent, but Whites have a higher variance. While the IQ data itself might not bear that out (I’ve seen evidence of both, but more evidence that Whites do not have higher variation), I am of the belief that our craziness is what makes us the higher variance race.

I agree with you about risk-taking (I mentioned that on my blog, so my agreement is sincere). When people ask me which group is “better” or “superior,” (I don’t like those terms because all races evolved in a manner that made them “superior” for the conditions under which they evolved), I will typically answer that in the following manner:

That depends. Do you want to have children, all of whom will earn around $100,000 per year? Or … do you want to build a civilization that makes game-changing innovations? We are the high-variance race, despite what the IQ data might say.

        • Sick of it

Would you be surprised to learn that the peoples of North Africa once looked like you and me, not who’s there now?

          • NeanderthalDNA

Hey yeah. Sub-Saharan DNA, whatever the heck it’s from, is a genetic Trojan horse that’s been sucking everything near it down like a black hole for MILLENIA.

          • El_Baga_Doucha_Libtard

Of course I wouldn’t be surprised.

    • sbuffalonative

According to what I’ve read, blacks are twice as likely to suffer from diabetes than whites. Tomorrow, a ‘new study’ will tell us something else.

    • John R

Thank you! I am no scientist, but I find it hard to believe that some “Neanderthal” gene is lurking in White people. Seriously, if the “Neanderthal genes” were mainly found in Africans, do you really believe that fact would even be published? Of course not!

      • Bossman

Neanderthals were the original Europeans who then got mixed with and then replaced by Cro-Magnon man who is supposed to have come up from South Africa. I know this is very hard to believe in. If all this is true, then it would mean that whites themselves are the results of cross breeding.

  • Spartacus

  • bigone4u

Science marches on, proving that the races really are physically different. I’m loving it. When I suggested this at the university back in 1980 I was bullied into silence, but silence is not the same as buying into the lie that all people are the same.

    • The Verdict of History

I’ve learned more from reading Amren commentary than I have from my neo-Marxist and feminist professors.

As the blacks in this country say: you folks are the real deal.

(and the commentary on Counter-Currents, Occidental Observer, V-Dare and Taki Mag have also proved informative…)

    • Edruezzi

please, I’m a bit slow. Who is telling the lie? Humans lie for a reason, so why are they telling it?

      • bigone4u

Conformity. We all must conform to certain ideas that benefit the power elites. As the Japanese put it, “The nail that sticks up will be hammered down.” To counter the cultural myths, we have web sites like amren and Taki’s magazine and many others–communities of truth tellers. More specifically, Obama lies to increase support for his party. Republicans do the same. Cui bono. Lies are spewed out to benefit in some way the tellers.

        • Edruezzi

          Thank you.

      • NeanderthalDNA

Anybody who is invested in the Lie will work tirelessly and viciously to uphold it.

Plenty of stakeholders in the great big Boasian-Marxist lie upon which all race thinking is shackled. Stakeholders like…

        1. Members of any ethnicity with a lower average IQ.

        2. Ideological defenders with Phd.’s in some form of debased social “science” or humanities victim enabling studies who have staked their intellectual reputation and income earning capacity on the Lie.

        3. Those who have encouraged their children to mate with non-Whites of lower IQ. They have the opportunity to see their very grandchildren act stupider in front of their eyes and HAVE to blame evil White “racism” rather than evil r-style low IQ GENETICS.

4, 5, 6, 7…. LOTS of stakeholders in the Lie for LOTS of reasons…

      • Anna Tree

The elites. The same way the people believed the Catholic Church, for example, a few centuries ago, by blind faith, brainwashing and force, we today believe a new religion, albeit secular. Blind faith doesn’t always revolve around a god…

The reasons? Same, always about control, power, wealth. Today blind faith revolve around liberalist dogmas, like wealth redistribution to fight
global warming (oops climate change), diversity is a strength but weirdly at the same time only in white countries and of course beside, islam
is a religion of peace, Dalai Lama is a saint, races/gender don’t exist/are a social construct, multiculturalism is our salvation, homosexuality is innate, affirmative action is not racism, “no child behind” is good for all etc etc

I just accepted what I was told without checking because it made me feel
good, this is how a modern and good person should think, all were
mainstream opinions and repeated ad nauseum everywhere. It’s only by
coincidence I found out about one of the untruth I was believing blindly
in (islam a religion of peace highjacked by a few bad apples… not)
and only then I came to realize how much we are brainwashed in so many issues by the elites, family, media, friends, school and of course by
even ourselves, because of greed, naivety, taught self hatred,
projection, wishful thinking, pathological altruism, ego etc.

From a comment in the original article quoted in
        amren(dot)com/news/2013/05/should-research-on-race-and-iq-be-banned/ :
“The dominant elites are always intent on suppressing dissent to the
dogma of the day, because the dominant dogma always reinforces the power of the elite. They are frequently quite successful.

Once, the scary idea of the day was the heliocentric solar system and
the earth orbiting the sun. Galileo Galilei (and others) demonstrated
that the dogma of the day was wrong. Since this undermined the dogma
(and power) of the church it was unacceptable. Galileo was prosecuted,
threatened with torture, and placed under house arrest for the rest of
        his life.

In our time, the scary ideas are race as a biological/genetic fact and
the existence of group differences. Of course, these ideas challenge the
dominant elite orthodoxies of “diversity”, multiculturalism (all
cultures are equals), white guilt, Open Borders, etc. Hence, every
effort must be made to suppress them.

All of this is deeply threatening to the elite establishment as it clings
to its preferred worldview and policies. Worse it is a threat to their
power. So the elites and the brainwashed masses will prosecute,
persecute, ostracized, cursed, fired those who stand up and question.

        Galileo said it all.
“Eppur si muove” – And yet it moves.””

    • Edruezzi

Science marches on, proving that race is irrelevant. You are quote mining. (qv)

      • Anna Tree

Why the fact that science marches on, proves that race is irrelevant? Also, we don’t say that science is silenced, but some part of it, controversial parts, are silenced. Sadly, this has sometimes be the case in the past, and today it is too: Glayde
Whitney in Contemporary Psychology wrote: “Astronomy and the physical
sciences had their Copernicus, Kepler, and Galileo a few
centuries ago; society and the welfare of humanity is the better for it
today. In a directly analogous fashion, psychology and the social
sciences today have their Darwin, Galton, and Rushton.”

        • Edruezzi

Here’s a quote from Stephen Jay Gould. I hope it causes no offense.

“My visceral perception of brotherhood harmonizes with our best modern biological knowledge. […] Many people think (or fear) that equality of human races represents a hope of liberal sentimentality probably squashed by the hard realities of history. They are wrong. This essay can be summarized in a single phrase, a motto if you will: Human equality is a contingent fact of history. Equality is not true by definition; it is neither an ethical principle (though equal treatment may be) nor a statement about norms of social action. It just worked out that way. A hundred different and plausible scenarios for human history would have yielded other results (and moral dilemmas of enormous magnitude). They didn’t happen.”

          Stephen Jay Gould

        • Edruezzi

I think a lot of this controversy arises from the radically different ways science and the everyday conceptualization of the layman think of evidence. Geneticists have a clear idea why they disregard race and that is because it’s operationally impossible for them to define it. We might note that they reached this conclusion as far back as the 1940s. What variation between continental populations they have detected simply does not conform to popular notions of race. The controversy is really about genetic variation within groups and the genetic variation of mankind as a whole. Of course a subtlety like that is lost on everyone from anthropologists downward.
Okay, move down a rung to the anthropologists and the muddle starts. It turns out that people like Boaz did more harm than good. Go down a rung lower and it get’s still more muddled. By the time you get to the swirl of nonsense of the social scientists the debate is worthless. I then invite you to go a rung lower still and have a look at some of the user posts in even those websites that support the idea that race is irrelevant. The non-scientist has such an imprecise and utterly uniformed way of defining these things, and such a hazy understanding of the scientific method, that you have to be a masochist to read through some of the posts in even the sympathetic sites. When it comes to race maybe 99% of people have no idea what they’re talking about, and those are the people who don’t believe in race.
Just like the case with the evolution-creation controversy, it’s an indicator of the failure of scientific education, and of how the gap between what the layman can observe and the increasingly abstract science that explains it keeps widening.

  • JohnEngelman

With the shift from hunting and gathering to agriculture the diet shifted from high protein and low carbohydrate to high carbohydrate and moderate protein. Humans had to evolve in order to process the high carbohydrate diet that came from eating grains.

People whose ancestors more recently adopted agriculture are more likely to have type 2 diabetes.

The Neanderthals, of course, never adopted agriculture. Living in Europe when the climate was colder that it is now they ate few wild plant foods. Their diet was even lower in carbohydrates than the diets of races that practiced a paleolithic way of life into the twentieth century.

    • NeanderthalDNA

      Mmmmm… MEAT.

Carnivores tend to be smarter than herbivores. Omnivores? Regardless, Neanderthal DID have a pretty impressive cranium size…

      • JohnEngelman

Among other animals it is true that carnivores tend to be more intelligent than herbivores. That is probably true because it takes more intelligence to find and kill animals than it takes to eat grass or leaves.

However, primates seldom eat meat. Chimpanzees like meat, but their diet is mainly vegetarian. Primates are more intelligent than any other order of animal.

Agriculture requires more intelligence than hunting and gathering. Farmers need to know enough about plants and animals to tend domesticated plants and animals.

Before whites came to Australia the Aborigines there did not know that plants came from seeds. That kind of ignorance was probably common before the beginning of agriculture.

The parts of Neanderthal brains that were larger were the parts that determined reflexes and coordination. The parts that were smaller were the parts that determined conscious thinking.

Remains from the campsites of Neanderthals also indicated that they were less intelligent than the modern humans who had recently migrated from Africa. Their stone tool kit was more limited. They did not seem to practice trade, or to plan for the future.

        • Terra Magnum Imperium

JE I see your not a hunter. Hunting requires skill, cooperation and intelligence doubly so if do not have firearms and your hunting the large mammals of the Pleistocene. Unlike hunting, Agriculture itself is not that complex but stable, less dangerous and it allows Humans more free time for other pursuits like building large civilizations which encourage specialization.

The article is not clear also for: what do they mean by Latin Americans? South Amerindians or Spanish descendants or a mix?

If the diabete risk came from Neanderthals, then Europeans would have it more than Latin Americans. I am not sure but the article state the Denisovan cave, well Denisovans and Neanderthals have been found there. Not long ago it was claims that bones that were thought to be Neanderthals, were in fact Denisovans. those are more related to Asians and Australoids, that could be the link to Latin Americans…

    • Anna Tree

To the poster whose post was deleted (I don’t know if it was because
he called me an idiot or because of his moniker, but he did brought me
to research more the issue, so thanks):

Yes it matter (whether the diabete risk are higher for Amerindians or Spanish descended): not all non-African population have the same percentage of Neanderthal DNA. Actually as per this page
      anthropogenesis(dot)kinshipstudies(dot)org/2012/03/american-indians-neanderthals-and-denisovans-pca-views/
      (see also dienekes(dot)blogspot(dot)ca/2012/03/neandertaldenisovan-admixture-using-pca(dot)html )

“Eurasians deviate from Africans in a Neandertal direction, while, Papuans deviate from Eurasians in a Denisova direction.”

Native Americans are the closest to the Neanderthals and with the Australoids, to the Denisovans.

As per the Out Of Africa Theory, Australoids (Indonesians, Malaysians, Guinea Papuans and Australian Arborigenes) are said to be the descendants of the first wave out of Africa, 70,000 years ago. They went east following the coast and mated with local homonids, included Denisovans, sharing up to 6% DNA. They are actually the least related, i.e. the furthest genetically from Africans, despite their skin colour, who is an environmental adaptation (convergent evolution.) Caucasoids and Mongoloids are the descendants of the Cro-magnons who were the second wave out of Africa 50,000 years ago, and who went to the Middle East and later to North Africa, Europe and Asia. Some hypothese that Australoids went to the (South) Americas, not only Asians.

      • Terra Magnum Imperium

I remember reading that Ethiopia is the birth place of the Caucasian race and they move out from there. For me the Million dollar question is what caused the increased IQ of Caucasians compared to the Negroid race when both races still hunter / gatherers…

        • Anna Tree

There are many reasons. For example the colder weather or with which hominids one race has mated
          with or not with…

To the same poster whose post was deleted again:

Actually you didn’t educate nobody, my answer to your first post refuted with support, your erroneous claims: you were wrong, yes it matters whether the diabetes risk are higher for Amerindians or
Spanish descended because not all non-African population have the same percentage of Neanderthal DNA and there was different admixture with different hominids beside the Neanderthals that could skew the risk too. In fact, Amerindians are the closest to Neanderthals as per the articles quoted in the websites I linked.

My grammar and phrasing doesn’t matter, this is yet another fallacy of yours. If you can read the scientific sources I posted, who cares? Moreover as you do understand me. If you are also a rational person, and correct of course, you won’t need fallacies and you should come up with a rebuttal. I ask to be challenged. I have everything to gain and nothing to lose by being tested. It seems that this is YOUR problem…

          • Terra Magnum Imperium

Maybe but even as hunter gathers in a similar climate Proto-Caucasians had an IQ at least 10 points higher then there Negroid Neighbors with resulted in the first civilizations Tigris/Euphrates Rivers.

          • Anna Tree

Yes, as I wrote, it also depends with whom one’s ancestors group has mated. Maybe Hominins like Homo floresiensis, Homo heidelbergensis, Homo rhodesiensis, Homo sapiens idaltu, Homo neanderthalensis, Red Deer Cave people, Denisova hominin, Homo erectus etc or even other homininae…

The idea that human intelligence is ‘magical’, not biological, is
not rational for me. It has a physical base like everything else in
existence. I think the difference of IQ is a fruit of evolution: environmental, adaptation, admixture etc.

  • BonusGift

Good point; also the ‘modern’ diet does seem to impact the squats more than us with regard to both kinds of diabetes, but as you mention especially the lifestyle kind/type 2. Furthermore, apparently China has the mother of all diabetes epidemics rolling this way (somewhere around 50% of the population).

  • Bossman

Type 2 diabetes is also easier to control and to live with.

  • Anone

I’d take anything these people have to say with a grain a salt. After all, they all insist that all humanity come from black families in our distant past.

Obviously, that is not true. Just plain old basic common sense. We are nothing alike.

Which is, of course, why they insist they are related to us by family. These people worship negros because of the evil they do. To the liberal way of thinking, the fact that the negro exists as a people and commits such evil no matter the background, living conditions, environment etc. is proof that God does not exist….which gives them free license to do whatever they wish without that pesky fear of hell.

The problem with this, of course, is the closer you look, the more obvious it becomes that black people and white people are not the same people. We are human. They are not. We have the spark of divinity and are capable of good. They are not. Which makes them monsters. Monsters aren’t really evil…..they lack the necessary ability to choose. A rabid wolf is not evil either….but we don’t let it live, neither to hurt others nor to spread its disease. That wolf doesn’t really know something is wrong. That is the job of the white man with a hunting rifle….both to know and to do something about it.

Liberals, however….in their negro worship, absolutely do have choice. They consciously and willfully choose evil. Guilt is part of that choice. And coming up with complex theories to try and connect themselves with the “noble savage” who doesn’t know any better, is a big part of trying to deal with that guilt.

It’s insane. It’s immoral. But, in the end, it’s bad science so be careful with your conclusions.

Yes, Finland has the highest rate if Type 1 diabetes.

  • Grantland

The cure is to abstain from all carbohydrates.

  • Grantland

No, and no. Just research on Neanderthal (carnivorous) diet, leading to trying it myself to lose a paunch. Acidosis is very rare. Protein is broken down to provide essential glucose. After a few days the body starts burning fat, rather than (most) glucose. Its the only cure for Type 2 diabetes, and the only truly effective fatness cure.

Regarding the IQ difference between whites and East Asians one must take into account the numbers of non-europeans that are classified as white. This includes the populations of the middle east, north africa and and south asia where the Muslim religion permits marriage between blood relatives which over time will lower the average IQ.

    • Edruezzi

How do you know that? It seems a non-white only has to breathe to lower his IQ to you guys.

      • Anna Tree

No, this is not true, another stereotype of race realists I supposed LOL

If you were asking about marriage between blood relatives (I will have to check the rest of Scutum’s post):

“Today, 70% of all Pakistanis are inbred and in Turkey the amount is between 25-30% (Jyllands-Posten, 27/2 2009 “More stillbirths among immigrants“). A rough estimate reveals that close to half of everybody living in the Arab world is inbred. A large percentage of the parents that are blood related come from families where intermarriage has been a tradition for generations. A BBC investigation in Britain several years ago revealed that at least 55% of the Pakistani community in Britain was married to a first cousin.

The Times of India affirmed that “this is thought to be linked to the
probability that a British Pakistani family is at least 13 times more
likely than the general population to have children with recessive
        genetic disorders.”

The BBC’s research also discovered that while British Pakistanis accounted for just 3.4% of all births in Britain, they accounted for 30% of all British children with recessive disorders and a higher rate of infant
mortality. It is not a surprise, therefore, that, in response to this evidence, a Labour Party MP has called for a ban on first-cousin marriage. Medical evidence shows that one of the negative consequences of inbreeding is a 100% increase in the risk of stillbirths.

One study comparing Norwegians and Pakistanis shows the risk that the child dies during labour increases by 50%. The risk of death due to autosomal recessive disorders — e.g., cystic fibrosis and spinal muscular atrophy — is 18 times higher.

Risk of death due to malformations is 10 times higher. Mental health is also at risk: the probability of depression is higher in communities where
consanguine marriages are also high. The closer the blood relative, the higher the risk of mental and physical retardation and schizophrenic illness.

And then there are the findings on intelligence. Research shows that if
one’s parents are cousins, intelligence goes down 10-16 IQ points. The
risk of having an IQ lower than 70 (criterion for being “retarded”)
increases 400% among children from cousin marriages.

An academic paper published in the Indian National Science Academy found that “the onset of various social profiles like visual fixation, social
smile, sound seizures, oral expression and hand-grasping are
significantly delayed among the new-born inbred babies.”

Another study found that Indian Muslim schoolboys whose parents were first cousins tested significantly lower than boys whose parents were
unrelated in a non-verbal test on intelligence.

It is estimated that one third of all handicapped people in Copenhagen
have a foreign background and 64% of school children in Denmark with
Arabic parents are illiterate after 10 years in the Danish school
        system.”

Massive inbreeding among Muslims has been going on since their prophet allowed first-cousin marriages more than 50 generations (1,400 years) ago. For many Muslims, therefore, intermarriage is regarded as being part of their religion.

In many Muslim communities, it is a source of social status to marry one’s
daughter or son to his or her cousin. Intermarriage also ensures that
wealth is kept within the family.Islam’s strict authoritarianism plays a large role as well: keeping daughters and sons close gives families more power to control and decide their choices and lifestyles.”
        From
        fahrenheit211(dot)net/2013/09/09/from-elsewhere-the-appalling-human-and-financial-cost-of-islamic-incest/

Statistical research on Arabic countries shows that up to 34 percent of
all marriages in Algiers are consanguine (blood related), 46 percent in
Bahrain, 33 percent in Egypt, 80 percent in Nubia (southern area in
Egypt), 60 percent in Iraq, 64 percent in Jordan, 64 percent in Kuwait,
42 percent in Lebanon, 48 percent in Libya, 47 percent in Mauritania, 54
percent in Qatar, 67 percent in Saudi Arabia, 63 percent in Sudan, 40
percent in Syria, 39 percent in Tunisia, 54 percent in the United Arabic
Emirates and 45 percent in Yemen (Reproductive Health Journal, 2009
Consanguinity and reproductive health among Arabs.).

A large part of inbred Muslims are born from parents who are themselves inbred – which increase the risks of negative mental and physical consequences greatly.

Marriage between cousins is an example how morals/norms of a society can impact that society, even endangering it (from IEET’s article by Hank
        Pellissier):
“Statistics on the danger of ingrown genetics were publicized in 2005
when a BBC report claimed Pakistani-Britons produce 33% of the nation’s children with genetic illnesses, even though they account for only 3% of the births. (55% of Pakistani-Britons marry first cousins.) 10% of these newborns either die in infancy, or endure a serious disability.
Pakistani-Britons who are first cousins are, claimed the report, 13X
more likely to have children with recessive disorders than the general
        population.

This dire prognosis is duplicated in the US state of Ohio, in Geauga
County, where the Amish population represents 12% of the citizenry.
After inter-breeding for 300 years, Amish total 50% of the county’s
special needs cases. Additionally, there’s a debilitating seizure
disorder that’s so rare only twelve individuals worldwide are afflicted
with it; the infirmity is exclusively Amish.”

Another example is a generation postponing marriages and therefore a
generation of children being born to older parents. Human Genetics
Commission: “the effect of increased maternal age on the rate of Down
Syndrome… can be compared with the increased risk of consanguinity. At 35 years of age the risk of Down Syndrome is four times that at age 25 and it increases 15 times by the age of 40… [Both] cousin marriage and increased maternal age… represent complex cultural trends…”

Another example of how morals/norms impact society is with the western
trend to do less than 1.3 babies while still helping Africa with money,
medicine, food, infrastructure, in less than a century to increase from
250 millions to 1 billion, similarly helped India with railroads, crop
rotation and antibiotics. The problem is what will happen with less
(productive/creative) whites in the world… who will feed Africa? Who
will develop the new drugs? Billions will die…

How much individual freedom vs. health of a society is the question… In
my opinion “radical personal freedom” doesn’t trump every other issue,
that be gay adoption or extreme religious dogmas or one full generation
deciding to bring children only at age 35+ or cousin marriage and pathological altruism.

Thinking along the lines of epigenetics, I imagine there’s been an ebb and flow regarding IQ both within and among races as competition increased and decreased for many reasons over time.

I disagree with your “4% Neanderthal DNA is frankly irrelevant
compared to the 96% Europeans share with Africans”. Would you say that the 4% DNA that differentiate the chimpanzees and the humans are irrelevant too? Often the differences are more significant than the shared. Additionally there is a 2% DNA from Homo genus in certain African populations (see below).
There is a lot more we don’t know… The future may bring more information and refute it later or not, if science is not silenced…

Please bring support to your claim that white Americans have African DNA from the slaves, notably your 30% of a group of white students.

Regarding the hominins I listed I wrote maybe: we don’t have enough remnants and/or we don’t know enough regarding time overlapping or mating. Just to remind you that until some 3 years ago, scientists thought Homo sapiens and Neanderthals didn’t mate, not long before they thought that the groups existence didn’t even overlapped.

I will answer your other post tomorrow or so (indeed better just one profile by the way, to please the moderators).

    Support, check for example:

“Non-modern varieties of Homo are certain to have survived until
after 30,000 years ago, and perhaps until as recent as 10,000 years ago. Which of these, if any, are included under the term “archaic human” is a matter of definition and varies among authors. Nonetheless, according to recent genetic studies, modern humans seem to have bred with “at least two groups” of ancient humans: Neanderthals and Denisovans.[3] New evidence suggests another group may also have been extant as recently
as 11,500 years ago, the Red Deer Cave people of China.[4]”
    en(dot)wikipedia(dot)org/wiki/Archaic_Homo_sapiens

“In 2011 Michael Hammer et al. at the University of Arizona studied DNA from two African hunter-gatherer groups, the Biaka Pygmies, the San and the West African agricultural Mandinka people. They concluded that roughly 2% of the genetic material found in these modern African populations was inserted into the human genome approximately 35,000 years ago. They also concluded these sequences must have come from a now-extinct member of the Homo genus that broke away from the modern
human lineage around 700,000 years ago.[42]
In 2012 another study was done by Sarah Tishkoff et al. at the University of Pennsylvania. They tested 3 sub-Saharan African populations – Pygmies from Cameroon and the Hadza and Sandawe, both from Tanzania. The team found signs that the
ancestors of the hunter-gatherers bred with different species of
hominins, probably more than 40,000 years ago.[43]”

Hey, missed this til now. That’s the kind of thing I was driving at. The “smart and crazy” thing that guy said. I love specifics, ha ha.
I’ll check that out. Wonder how red headed “gingers” fit in. They seem to me to have a well earned mercurial edge to them (good and bad – my mother was one believe me).

Happy new year to Amreners. Sorry if I’ve been harsh on some of you, as a mixed-race person. The posters defy the lefty stereotype of “race realists” as crude, half-witted morons.

    • Anna Tree

Happy New Year to you too!

Where did you read about this stereotype of race realists? How did you find out about this site? I mean I didn’t know race realists are so ‘famous’…

Indeed don’t believe any stereotype and always check for yourself! Read Philippe Rushton, Charles Murray, Jared Taylor etc and you could be surprised: not only race realists are rational and have a logic argumentation but you can be mixed-race and a race realist! Bill Cosby and other non-whites have made race realist statements, and this is because a race realist can be from every race.

(By the way, did you read my response to you?)

      • Edruezzi

        Yeah, I read your responses.

Apparently, there were a mixture between Western Europeans and East Asians in Siberia, before, reaching the Behring Strait in their journey the Americas. The genome of a boy buried near Lake Baikal in eastern, Siberia (Russia) aprox 24,000 years ago matches both the DNA of living Western Europeans, and also matches the 25% of the DNA of living Native of the Americas. Native Americans, Asians and Europeans share neanderthal genes. So, indigenous people from USA, Canada and Latin America, shared some European genes, even before the Columbus arrival. New discoveries in Europe reveals, that we are the result of a long history of interbreeding among at least 4 species of early humans.

    • Anna Tree

Hi Maria, who is “we” in your last sentence please? The Cro-magnons? The Caucasians? The whites? And could you give the names of those four species of early humans? Thank you 🙂
Happy New Year to you too!

      • 123MariaOconnor123

I am refering to Neanderthals, Denisovans, Homo Sapiens and unknow hominid whose DNA was found in both Neanderthals and Denisovans.
We all share neanderthal genes, except people that lives south of the Sahara desert in Africa. Asians, Melanesians and Amerindians, share neanderthal and denisovan genes. I do not hate anybody, and I do not have racial hates. Hate makes people look older and uglier ! Best wishes !
