Trucker Was on His Phone When He Killed Man Changing Tire on I-80, Prosecutors Say

A tractor-trailer driver was using his phone when he struck and killed a motorist who was changing a flat tire on a suburban expressway last month, prosecutors say.A little before 5:30 a.m. on June 24, Sebastian Stone, 23, was struck and killed by a passing vehicle while changing a flat tire on his black Honda on the right shoulder of I-80 near Torrence Avenue, according to prosecutors. Illinois State Police troopers arrived and found Stone dead. The vehicle that struck him had left the scene.

Through their investigation, state troopers determined that Kang was using his phone when he struck Stone on the expressway and confirmed that he did not stop, render aid, or report the crash, according to the allegations.
