Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said there have been 33 bomb threats in recent days related to rising tensions over immigrants in Springfield, and each one has turned out to be a hoax.
“None of these had any validity at all,” DeWine said during a news conference in Springfield on Monday afternoon.

Springfield City Hall was forced to evacuate on Thursday because of a bomb threat, two schools were evacuated there Friday, two hospitals were locked down Saturday because of bomb threats and two more schools were evacuated Monday.
Most notable of the resources DeWine pledged was an allocation of security personnel to every school in Springfield.
Earlier Monday, Springfield Mayor Rob Rue said he and his family are now getting death threats. {snip}

Trump and running mate J.D. Vance have been circulating the story about the Haitian immigrants while Rue and other Springfield officials have said on several occasions that those stories are not true.

DeWine said the immigrants who are working in Springfield wouldn’t be working there if they weren’t in the country legally, but he did acknowledge that the massive influx — approximately 15,000 immigrants have arrived in Springfield since 2020 — has exposed several problems about President Joe Biden’s immigration policy.
“It’s been a mess and frankly the Biden administration has not done a good job with the border,” he said. “It is a legitimate issue.”
