Sen. Tim Scott Rips Biden for ‘Resegregated’ Schools

Mallory Wilson, Washington Times, May 26, 2024

Sen. Tim Scott, South Carolina Republican, claimed President Biden “resegregated” schools under his administration, and said former President Donald Trump would fix those issues.

“If you look at cities like Chicago today, the elimination of charter schools under Joe Biden resegregated schools in America,” Mr. Scott said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” show. “We need four more years of common sense under Donald Trump, and not four more years of segregation under Joe Biden.”

He hit Mr. Biden for not standing up to the teachers unions, and said the “growth of charter schools that provides greater diversity and opportunities” was stunted during his administration.

Mr. Scott referenced back to when Vice President Kamala Harris and Mr. Biden had a heated exchange in 2019 regarding his past of praising segregationist senators, and his opposition of busing, when they were both running for the Democratic presidential nomination.

“If you’re really concerned about racial justice in America, let’s not forget, Joe Biden is the guy that talked about racial jungles as a result of desegregation,” Mr. Scott said. “His own Vice President Kamala Harris said he supported segregation.”
