Germany: Schoolgirls Warned to ‘Walk to School in Groups’ After Tunisian Migrant Rapes Woman Near School Grounds

John Cody, Remix, February 6, 2024

he German city of Regensburg is in a state of terror after a spate of sexual assaults and rapes. The incidents have resulted in the principal of a girls’ school issuing instructions to parents to “only allow their daughters to walk to school in groups.”

The warning comes after a rape recently occurred near the school grounds, with two Tunisian migrants in their 20s accused of raping a 29-year-old woman. The incidents have resulted in Christian Socialist (CSU) MP Peter Aumer calling for a deportation offensive.

In the warning sent to the parents of the school’s 1,200 students, the principal, Hans Lindner, also warns the young women to “only use well-lit paths and streets” while walking to and from school, although he states the letter is “purely preventive.”

“Point out to your daughter that both Fürst-Anselm-Allee and the train station area are crime hotspots even during the day, despite the increased presence of police and security services,” he wrote.

The Alternative for Germany (AfD), in responding to the warning letter from the school, wrote: “Even better than preventive letters are preventive border protection and preventive deportations of those required to leave the country! And only the AfD (has taken on) such a ‘prevention program.’”

Robberies and sexual harassment

In addition to the rape, there have been a number of robberies involving migrants targeting supermarkets during the day. Tunisian migrants were already arrested after going on a rampage in the old town of the city on New Year’s Eve just over a month ago, in which they were accused of sexually harassing a 33-year-old woman.

In response to growing fears, the city removed benches in the park between a girls’ school and the main railway station, as confirmed by Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer (SPD) to German newspaper Mittelbayerische Zeitung. Migrants had been congregating in the area and were harassing women.

“We go for a walk in the castle park every day, and for a good six months now we’ve been hearing more people talking in foreign languages,” retired pastor Erhard Schmidt said to Bild newspaper. “You could see the young migrants trying to sell drugs or burying them in the ground.”

Police told Bild that there have been a large number of Tunisians arrested for offenses in recent weeks. They note that Tunisians also made up the largest group of non-German suspects in crimes around the main train station in 2023.

“The figures for 2023 in the station area will exceed the figures from previous years,” a police spokeswoman said.

The German publication Merkur writes that “Regensburg has a massive problem with so-called intensive offenders who come from North African countries as asylum seekers; Tunisians, in particular, are particularly noticeable. It’s not primarily about sexual crimes. The young men are highly active criminals and extremely violent, which was recently demonstrated on New Year’s Eve in the old town.”

Tunisians are flowing into Regensburg

Tunisian migrants have been flowing into the Regensburg Anchor Center, an asylum center near the main train station.

Regensburg CSU MP Peter Aumer has now published an open letter to Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) in which he invites her to Regensburg to “get a picture of the situation and needed measures” and “talk with the authorities and those affected.”

The CSU politician said he wants “turbo (deportation) procedures for foreign offenders,” especially for asylum seekers from the Maghreb states of Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Western Sahara. He noted that Tunisians have a 97 percent rejection rate and it should be recognized as a safe country.

Schoolchildren have often been the targets of migrants in Germany. Last year, a 23-year-old migrant explained in court that he stabbed a random 7-year-old schoolgirl in the head five times while she sat down for breakfast because there would be a greater risk that an adult would fight back than a child. In another case, a migrant hopped a fence and severely stabbed two young girls in Berlin’s Neukölln neighborhood while they played table tennis. He was given no prison time for the incident.

In August of last year, a Tunisian migrant raped a 15-year-old schoolgirl in the city of Halle, with police being accused of covering up the story.
