Ebola Expert to CNN: We Can’t Ban Flights from Liberia Because of Slavery

Bradford Thomas, Truth Revolt, October 3, 2014

On Anderson Cooper 360 Thursday, Ebola expert David Quammen argued that America had a “responsibility” to allow people from Liberia to fly into the country because of the legacy of American slavery.

Quammen, author of Ebola and Spillover, has been making the rounds on news outlets over the last few weeks as an expert on the history of Ebola. Thursday, Quammen offered Cooper his opinion on the proper American response to the epidemic:

Quammen: You can’t isolate neighborhoods, you can’t isolate nations. It doesn’t work. And people talk about, ‘Well, we shouldn’t allow any flights from Liberia.’ I mean, we in America, how dare we turn our backs on Liberia given the fact that this is a country that was founded in the 1820s, 1830s because of American slavery. We have a responsibility to stay connected to them and help them see this through.

“this is a country that was founded in the 1820s, 1830s because of American slavery.”

After 200 years they still need us to hold their hand? How weak and stupid are these “people”? Just kidding I know how weak and stupid they are…..extremely.

    • D.B. Cooper

That includes the white liberal democrat, whom I’m sparring with right now on some other site.

      • shawnmer

Any argument from him worth sharing?

      • George Costanza

        Link!! pweasseee!!!

      • R L Buds

I have found that as you lay out valid points they come back with “you must have mental health problems” or they just call you names. Most times it’s pointless to even try, I can just hope that they have interactions with the prefered people similar to mine then maybe they’ll wake up; but even then many don’t.

    • SentryattheGate

My husband, while in the Peace Corps, late 70’s, in Liberia, saw that the millions $$$$ USAID money that we sent for establishing rural schools was taken and used to buy weapons and luxury cars by their warlords! Within years, Liberia was a complete war zone! Then George McGovern, as the new Director of the UN Food Program, came to our local university to solicit $$$$ for daily breakfasts and lunches to these supposed schools! There were plenty of dropped jaws when I related my husband’s experience! McGovern just bumbled—he didn’t know what to say!!!

      • George Costanza

I work with this woman originally from South Africa(Afrikaner) she told me that when the whites forfeited power to them, the blacks would regress back to their tribal’ state.

She said when they moved them into new apartments, they wouldn’t know how to use the appliances and throw them out the window. They would also build fires on the living room floors and move the animals(goats, chickens, etc) in with them into there living quarters..

        I kid you not!!!

        • Germanicus

Blacks (and Hispanics) can thrive as long as they are well-diluted in white society. They lack certain cultural and social organizing traits between themselves that produce the kind of stand-alone civilization I would want to live in.

          • Jack Burton

Wrong, they don’t thrive at all. They’re just a burden on white society.

  • anony

This kind of lunacy will be our downfall.

    Insanity rules our very civilization.

  • So far, Ebola has been blamed on:

    * Slavery
    * The NRA
    * Ted Cruz
    * Comprehensive immigration reform not being passed
    * Global warming

So far, Ebola has not been blamed on:

    * Horrible African hygiene
    * African superstitions
    * African paranoia
    * Open borders

    • cherrie greenbaum123

      African hygiene is an oxymoron.

      • GeneticsareDestiny

But Africans love to wash dead bodies! (This is one way they catch ebola.)

        • Oil Can Harry

I suspect that these oversexed Africans are doing more than just “washing” the corpses (wink wink).

Still, if these Ebola stiffs were immediately cremated instead of being given these elaborate washing rituals the epidemic would subside.

          • Bill

I thought they contracted it from sex with monkey’s.

Africans? Sex with monkeys; sex with each other; what is the difference really?

Prostitute shortage? Or they decided monkey’s are cheaper.

        • cherrie greenbaum123

Someone really should write a book on Negro Logic. I think it would be a f***ing best seller. Probably would find it in the “Mystery” section of Barnes and Noble.

          • HE2

            “Negro Logic” book? Great idea.
It might even pull ahead and outsell
“Five Hundred Years of Irish Gourmet Cooking.”

        • John R

Well, at least Africans finally get cleaned after they are dead! So funny.

      • Jack Burton

That’s a common misconception. More blacks have immigrated to America in the last 50 years than we ever took as slaves. Furthermore that has nothing to do with immigration to other white countries.

What we really should have done is win the Civil War, and Germany should have won. None of this would be happening.

    • DonReynolds

It is always interesting when many people discuss the civil war deaths, they only mention the Union military deaths and never the Confederate dead (military and civilian).

  • AmericanCitizen

The Liberal Progressive will always find a way to twist any issue into a reflection of white guilt over the past. What kind of fool determines how to fight a virus by applying social and moral standards to it? Ebola doesn’t care about skin color, wealth or the history of Liberia when it invades a host.

How insanely stupid can the Leftists be?

    • Dwight

Anderson Cooper knew his position and what he was going to say ahead of time. That is why he had Quammen on his show. This kind of illogic makes perfect sense to uber-leftists like Cooper.

      • AmericanCitizen

They are the same assholes that will stand next to a gun-free zone sign and point to it in disbelief when things get hot and their own neighborhood becomes a war zone.

      • thegodsofeden

What more do you expect from someone with two last names?

      • Jack Burton

MSNBC is so overtly leftist and pure propaganda. Their discussions are nothing but echo chambers for their anti-white agenda.

    • Germanicus

Maybe Liberal Whites actually like the Ebola virus at some weird, deep level because Ebola is something these whites and blacks can share. It is way of communing–genetically. Viruses can snag and transport genes between hosts. Maybe a natural experiment (“unnatural,” really) is being conducted to (1) bring whites and blacks in proximity and (2) then to share genes extrasexually via viral transmission. Wow, realized that this is extremely speculative at this point. Consider the laege number of US military personnel sent to–to do what? Could they have been sent intentionally to become vectors or to study the particular mechanisns of inter-racial epudemiology and virology? One man’s epidemic is another man’s designer evolution. This virus has already demonstrated that it performs well jumping the barrier of species and may have have properties that are particularly attractive to racial blenders, benders, breakers and “menders.” Again, this is merely speculative.

      • anony

I chuckle at the CDC “experts who confidently state that this virus is not transmittable until the infected person displays symptoms. I suspect there is much they don’t understand about this virus.

But their agenda is “don’t panic the herd”.

        • HE2

anony, unless Ebola is different in this respect, the “prodromal” period of such diseases, that is, the interval between exposure and the appearance of symptoms is a highly dangerous time contagion wise.
It annoys me no end that measuring the body temperature of a prospective plane passenger traveling from an infected area is considered adequate screening.
It is a combination of tragic and laughable.

        • Usually Much Calmer

CDC hacks care more about their ease in managing the population than about their primary purpose of controlling disease. The weak willed among us are so afraid of conflict its perverse.

      • Jack Burton

I vote for every white liberal in America taking in an African “refugee” with Ebola to live with them in their home. We’ll start with Anderson Cooper and David Quammen.

    • baldridge999

These Libs aren’t necessarily stupid, but rather heavily programmed to hate their own race and so the only way they can feel better is to work constantly to destroy their own people. How messed-up is that? Some can be deprogrammed, but others are too far gone. The real criminals, however, are the ones who programmed these anti-white drones.

      • AmericanCitizen

They have a cult-like devotion to their ideology. There is no debate possible, Libs never admit they were wrong. A liberal never listens to an opposing argument without a condesending smirk on.

        • baldridge999

Libs aren’t the only ones. For example, libertarians and so-called “free market” conservatives do likewise. Both of them have absolutely no concern if adhering to their respective ideology on some issue ends with the eradication of white people. This is why I don’t buy into any ideology besides what’s good for our people.

          Survival is the ultimate morality.

  • Bobbala

The only people to end slavery are white Christians, especially Great Britain. We will never, ever cease to regret that folly.

    • Sparky

And yet blacks from all over the world are desperately trying to get into white nations.

      • Dwight

The living is easy at whitey’s expense.

  • libertarian1234

Anybody belaboring issues that occurred hundreds of years ago is someone who is fixated on the past.

This is the 21st century and it’s time these old fashioned thinkers rid themselves of their outdated concentrations on negativism, raising them to a moral issue, because their mental disability is only bound to get worse if they don’t.

Long ago issues involving blacks have nothing to do with circumstances and issues popping up today Dwelling to excess on the past is a serious mental condition that requires psychotherapy and oftentimes a stay in an institution where the afflicted can be treated and
monitored to prevent them from slipping from reality.

Somebody should help David Quammen before it’s too late for him.

Nancy Pelosi was ignored and now look at how far she has deteriorated.

    • thegodsofeden

I think Pelosi is the Crypt Keeper’s mother. Just look at that face!

  • Really. I think some one needs to take a harder look at the ol history book again. Liberia was a U.S providence for free blacks and free slaves, besides, that is a very dead horse that has been dead for a while.

    • bilderbuster

      They shouldn’t have eaten it.

Remember the 60’s? That was the height of the ‘Back To Africa Movement’. Those guys wore Dashikis or whatever, and looked the part. A bunch of people were waiting for them to go, even buying the one-way tickets for ’em.

      • Did they go?

Or was “Back to Africa” with Dashikis nothing more than their lame attempt to try to get us to beg them to stay with goodies and gibs because they thought we were so infatuated with them?

  • I encourage David Quammen to move full-time to Liberia, where his services as an Ebola expert are surely needed during this horrible crisis. In fact, I will pledge $100 towards his one-way ticket. Anyone else?

Sub-Saharan Africans have no history pre-Livingston. Thus a faux “clean slate”. Thus can invent history before c. 1850, and even afterward. Only the sins of the literate (Euros and Asians) are being held against them.

  • Garrett Brown

So because of slavery we have to inherit a deadly disease? Only from the Negro mind.

    • Ringo Lennon

We’ve been very generous to the modern day negro. With all the welfare , food stamps, section 8 housing. I don’t know how much more we can do for these chaps. Yet they commit atrocious crimes against us. The modern day negro should be down on his knees thankful that his kin was foolishly brought to America. I can’t help it if I’m posting too much. Maybe I have to move out of Chicago area. Either Cincy, St. Louis or Pittsburgh. That way I’ll never have to see a Mexican and where whites outnumber blacks.

  • Stan D Mute

Wait, whites spent BIG money buying Africans captured and enslaved by other Africans. They then spent even MORE money returning those Africans to Africa and providing them the basics needed to establish a nation. As a rough estimate, I’d ballpark $50,000 each in 2014 dollars for each african purchased and freed and returned to Africa.

Since founding Liberia, America has dropped further hundreds of millions in both government aid and private charity to help these poor Liberians whose freedom was purchased by Americans.

    And yet WE owe THEM?

    • SentryattheGate

  • I agree with this guy, this Quammen dude. We should be helping out in Liberia.

In fact, Liberia would make the perfect photo op for Barry and Moochelle. Let’s see them in Monrovia bravely walking among the infected, oblivious to their own personal safety. Let the First Lady lecture the Liberians, while she’s there, on the perfect school lunch. The two of them can demonstrate first hand America’s commitment to Liberians.

Quammen, you can join the presidential party in Monrovia, too. Put your butt where your mouth is, pal.

We owe it to ourselves to walk in their with a horde of robots, gun in one hand and a DDT sprayer in the other. Kill the fauna on a Buffalo-in-America scale. Kill the bugs in the rivers and the soil, completely interrupting the host vector transition that is a cross species hazard. Mow the place flat with Agent Orange and Fire.
      Rinse and repeat.
Bring in large numbers of the right kinds of plants to pull the residual DDT out of the dirt. Fire, Fire, Fire! As Beavis would say.
All the while putting in the 10MW solar power stations on the desertified west coast and using them to supply massive desalinization and pumping plants to deliver clean water to the interior.
      NOW.
Plant some wheat, park some cattle and turn on the sprinklers.
Wait five years. Heat up the barbi. We’re havin’ steak.
Anything less than this will eventually (50-70 years) result in billion per year die offs of the black population as their numbers exceed their ability to hunt or grow and the crippled West finds it cannot afford any more food aid. All but guaranteeing that white homelands are inundated with high TFR, high criminality, hyper-aggressive, blacks.
Deal with them there. Or deal with them here. Whites before other races, humans before animals. THAT should be our obligation to our children’s as our species’ posterity. Because blacks will neither create nor sustain it on their own but our liberals will use black ineptitude as an excuse to mother-them empower themselves because they too lack the left brain skills to do achieve something on their own. Their sole talent is empathy and it is a deadly vampiric social skill indeed.

Liberal White people, wake up. There will never be a point where Blacks collectively say we’ve sufficiently repaid them for slavery. No matter what we do, we’ll always be part of a “racist system” that “discriminates against” them. As long as they can use us as a scapegoat for their failings, they will. They’ve been given every opportunity to succeed, and they haven’t made good. Let the reality set in: It’s not our fault, so stop feeling guilty about it.

          • HE2

Well said, Mary. Why should we feel any burden of guilt? It was those same ancestors who fought and died to free them.

Exceptions: The last whites out of ZA and Zimbabwe.
There are Boer farmers there whose only fault lies in trying to live a moral life, doing what they are good at, feeding the nation.
They do not deserve to be left to the blacks devices as an act of white genocide. They didn’t deserve to lose their nation. If we are going to prove we understand these critical two ‘fight for your own and die for want of trying’ conditions sufficient to save ourselves, we could do worse than to start by bringing out the last last Europeans from a backsliding continent.

        • Who Me?

I agree completely, but as I understand it, some of these White South Africans don’t want to leave the Homelands, the homelands where their ancestors trod first before there were any blacks in the southern part of that continent. The lands their ancestors carved out of the virgin soil and made homes for themselves and their posterity. This is a land they love as deeply as any White American loves the North American continent. They will have to learn as their fellow White South Africans have learned, that they MUST leave or they will DIE and there will be nothing to leave to their children, and no children to leave it to.
The problem is that even the ones who want out can’t leave. No White nation will take them, and that is more than a tragedy. It is leaving them to the mercy of sub-human and vicious blacks who wreak genocide upon them in the most gruesome and inhuman ways imaginable.

  • 5Sardonicus

Although Mr. Quammen’s opinion seems outrageous and health endangering, it is not too much different than the opinion of most of our privileged elites. For them social justice, equality and pathological guilt have become a secular religion. Something that overrides logic, common sense and responsible government.

Because of the turbo legathy ub da slayburry, we’re supposed to let people with ebola fly around the world and cause a pandemic.

  • Jessica Lee

Is there not any primary sources that state that slavery is what Africans did and that we did not introduce the idea to them? I read Negroes in Negroland and to me it seemed as if it was a part of life there. Why is it 100% of the guilt of slavery our burden?

    • thegodsofeden

      Kuz u bee wite!

    • proud white

It is all they can say whenever something doesn’t go their way. Whites and Asians are so much more intelligent and hardworking than them that they can’t compete and blame slavery for anything and everything. What they fail to realize is that all races perform and behave the same all around the world

    • anony

“Why is it 100% of the guilt of slavery our burden?”

Very simply, it’s part of the liberal narrative, and how dare you or anyone question it.

  • shawnmer

So Liberia, a real world experiment of what sort of world newly freed blacks could have built for themselves absent white “racism” holding them back, is STILL our responsibility?

Why isn’t it a shining, 1st example to the rest of the world about black potential instead of even needing help overcoming disease and squalor? It’s only been 150 years!

    • 1G25

Liberia is the “Bell Curve’s” thesis paradigm.

  • Fr. John+

Let me be as blunt as I can. I, and EVERY OTHER WHITE MAN IN THE USA, owe the RESIDENTS OF THE NIGER, NOTHING!!!!! Finis, end of story, Fuhgeddaboudit.

We have poured MILLIONS of dollars after the fallacy that a sub-normal IQ race can EVER become the Equal of Europa’s loins, and now have over fifty YEARS of stats showing One. Blessed.Thing. You CANNOT make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. You CANNOT.

As a Christian, I fully believe, now more than ever, in the doctrines of Election and Predestination. It is not ‘the white man’s FAULT.’ In fact, IT NEVER WAS. It is the act of a sovereign God that raises up some, and keeps others where they BELONG.

Racist? Puh-leez! Yeah, I’m a racist, and SO IS EVERY BLACK MAN AND WOMAN I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO MEET. So, get over it, and move on.

Not allow flights from Liberia? Hell, SEND THEM ALL BACK< and NEVER ALLOW ANY non-White to consider citizenship, EVER AGAIN. Celler/Hart/Kennedy was the DEATHKNELL for this nation, and they KNEW IT, back in 1965.

Is this the same David Quammen?
    From his Wikipedia page:

“He is a Yale graduate and former Rhodes Scholar; during his graduate studies at Oxford, he studied literature, concentrating on the works of William Faulkner.[3] Quammen was drawn to Montana in the early ’70s for the trout fishing.”

How in the h*ll does that qualify this flaming liberal idiot as an “Ebola Expert”?

    • journey

The wrong guy. Google the name with Ebola that will direct you to the person at issue.

      • AutomaticSlim

Pretty sure it’s the same guy.
His own web site states that he is an “author and journalist”.
Not a doctor or a scientist.
He’s just another opinionated leftie with a BA from Yale.

  • Hope AmRen is not going to start using auto-audio. Frays my nerves. I get away from it as fast as I can.

There may also be a way for editors avoid it. This might be more efficient than placing the onus on readers.

      • Garrett Brown

Non stop adds are playing on the media player you guys are linking immediately when you click this page unless you have ad block. It’s incredibly annoying.

      • Thanks, I’ll add that to the one thousand and one other things I should get to. I can always turn off my speakers, but until I get into reading an article, I usually have background music on, which is also annoying to have to turn off to avoid the auto-audio, which hereabouts usually starts with a public-service type [just now auto-audio has started babbling] PG&E ad, touting their happy, apparently mostly non-White female workers. They are pretty much a monopoly in California, so why they need to spend lots of my utility fees on running tons of mandatory feel-good ads about the demographic erasing of Whites, I have no idea.

  • bigred0721

I want to smack this idiot in the head. The first African slaves were brought to the New World in 1619, by the Dutch. According to my math, that was almost 160 years BEFORE the United States became a country. In 1808, the ban on the importation of slaves was enacted.
It ought to be clear, even to a liberal, that slavery was a deeply entrenched institution long before the United States of America even was conceived, let alone came into existence. America was a very fragile, weak and fragmented country and society in the first few decades of our existence as a country. Yet we still set about banning slavery, almost from the beginning of our history as a country.
We fought a war that killed an estimated 620,000 American men to end slavery.
Any “stain” on our country, a “stain” that was firmly in place 160 years before we even were a country, has long been removed. It’s about time we stopped feeling guilty about it.

    • Sick of it

I believe you mean “Dutch”, considering many of the “Dutch” in question were Jewish.

      • Garrett Brown

Yes, was going to follow up with a reply of “a specific type of Dutch”.

    • anony

Excellent points. In addition, I like to point out to these black behavior apologists (bba) that they should be focusing on slavery around the world today, especially White sex slavery, which is rampant.

  • Sick of it

So due to the legacy of slavery, we enslave white people, poison them, impoverish them, and expose them to terrible, life threatening diseases. Not to mention rape and murder on a regular basis. This is genocide.

    • Ethan Allen

      That’s the general idea, yes.

  • Dr. Bazzi

On Anderson Cooper 360 Thursday, Ebola expert David Quammen argued that America had a “responsibility” to allow people from Liberia to fly into the country because of the legacy of American slavery.
These two half wits must have forgotten that the Black war lords sold the Blacks into slavery (captured in the tribal wars) to he Arab slave traders and that only 1.5% or “rich whites” purchased the salves.
This leaves 98.5% of the white population who did not own slaves.
If you Mr. Cooper and your equally simple minded friend Quammer contract Ebola it would be justice for both of you jackasses.

  • Evette Coutier

There is no cure for white liberal stupidity so long as they live lives isolated from the realities of black existence. Rational appeals, fact, and evidence are wasted on them. Only traumatic emotional experiences capture their irrational minds. Those experiences must be personal to be effective. Just how convoluted and moronic can you be to suggest we should risk a deadly epidemic because there were slaves in America hundreds of years ago. There is no rational or logical connection between the two, and yet Cooper is entertaining the idea on tv.

    • anony

      Your points are well taken.

These “liberals” are practicing a secular “religion” which is rooted deep in their psyches. Like all religions, it is a “belief” system, not a reasoned, logical system. “True believers” are the same the world over.

    • Ethan Allen

Good post. You sound like you speak from experience.

      • Evette Coutier

I have spent a life time among liberal academics. Their pattern of thought is unfortunately consultant. They use their intellect to justify their feelings, and to rationalize away fact and evidence to the contrary. If most people knew what I know and saw what I have seen, they’d never left their kids attend university.

“Ebola expert David Quammen argued that America had a “responsibility” to allow people from Liberia to fly into the country because of the legacy of American slavery.”

This is not even possible that this statement was made. We are in a zone of complete insanity here.

Ebola has all the potential for being far more destructive than the 1918 flu. In that period people still functioned like beings that wanted to live. No more. We are going to set the world on fire in the ultimate adoration of negroes. I can’t take it any more. You?

    • My wife took a six-month leave of absence from her job today. We aren’t going farther than the mailbox except to buy groceries, until future notice, and I can go alone: orcs don’t get diseases. Maybe this is an overreaction, but if people shut down the economy by staying home, the feds will have to pay attention. This evening, Sayaka sewed a Harley Davidson Motor Cycles patch onto a Norwest Bank hat – over the original emblem – my mother once gave us, and she wasn’t exposed to God-Knows-What by bank customers.

I have absolutely no confidence in the US government’s willingness to quarantine Africa. Since I have enough money to support us for the next 1500 years if we are careful, we see no reason to risk our health or our lives. We also have enough dry goods stored to last through World Wars Three, Four and Five.

        • My old plan was to always buy twice as much dry stuff like rice as we needed, and to also dry things like tomatoes and peppers. Rice, oats and dry pasta are cheap. We store it on high shelves in the garage, in plastic bottles that we wash out, so mice can not reach it. We also have six weeks of water stored in the basement, also in 1.75 liter bottles, empty plastic vodka bottles. I love my family very much, so I would be much remiss in my responsibility to them if I did otherwise.

No doubt David Quammen and people like him must be broken in some fundamental way that we don’t quite understand yet from a scientific point . Otherwise I can’t explain how you would willingly invite a deadly disease for which there is no known cure.

Amazing that my earlier honest critique of the negro ‘Blame industry’ was REMOVED by the Coward censors at AmRen, while readers who DID see it, upvoted it unanimously. We don’t owe the residents of the Niger, ANYTHING. I’ll repeat it and say it again, with the power of my ordination vows behind it. Christendom has benefitted the Negro far more than their paganism EVER could. That they aren’t our ontological equal is ALSO both factual, and biblical. But, AmRen doesn’t want you to hear that, either!

Your only responsibility is to the American people insuring their safety, everything else is BS. Ban all flights from infected areas immediately before this thing gets completely our of hand. The American people want these flights banned, so much for democracy.

Do we get to evolve/ mutate along the ways we want so as to try to avoid immunizations and cures?

      >>

Yes, It’s called ‘Drug Immunity’ and unless you are ‘Expected’ or ‘Famous’, every evolution point you spend on DI adds 10-20 days to the amount of time the 24 epidemiological centers around the world take to create a vaccine.

Sneakily, if you cause such havoc, locally, that hospitals themselves becomes disease breeding grounds, the governments will _shut them down_ rather than have them flooded with the dying and lose their medical community and as the world medical network vanishes, it can end up taking 1500 or more days before a vaccine is created.

If you are going to beat the game at all, it typically takes less than 200 days to wipe out the population of Planet Earth.

There are just three countres which can really mess up the master plan to rid world of those pesky bipeds:

      Peru, Madagascar and Greenland.

What is it about these places that makes them plague free havens you ask?

Well, they are small in terms of total population size, with only a single port or airport at most (Peru has none), a ship or plane arrives to make sure they are still breathing about once a month so if Typhoid Mary isn’t onboard that ONE flight or steerage cabin, they don’t get infected.

And, yes, when the CDC won’t stand up on their hind legs and woof in our country at the thought of bringing ***EBOLA*** inside our borders via casual air traffic, a single sneeze, wheeze or cross-eyed stare and these smart nations close up shop completely.

That’s borders, airports, shipyards, hospitals, bottled water and breath masks plus public transportation and schools. If it gets really bad, they apply curfew, martial law and mass burning of bodies.

I have never managed to kill off all three of those countries ‘for the win’.

Comparatively, the United States government, with the world’s largest military airlift fleet, is apparently TOO STUPID to reverse the process and put the stopper in the genie bottle with Liberia in medical quarantine lockdown until _the source of the contagion_ is burned out.

You don’t have to blow anybody up. This isn’t Hollyweird.

You don’t have to abandon them to their fate. This isn’t Man Vs. Wild with Bear Grylls.

But you do have to be willing to look at the 7 billion people that populate this earth NOT in Liberia and balance their safety and continued access to world markets and travel against the rights of the 4.29 million people who were alive in that benighted country in 2013.

Most of whom couldn’t afford a plane ticket off a decades wages if someone OUTSIDE wasn’t paying for it.

By all means, send in the food, the water, the meds and the suicidal docs and missionaries to hand it all out. Send in the teleo-operated anthropomorphic labor ‘bots to wash down the infected areas and clothing. I believe this would be ideal for a role for such a system (especially if they start leaving poison bait for the monkeys in their off duty times).

      But let sense prevail.

Ebola is a high 90th percentile killer once you’re infected. And you die _really badly_, bleeding from everywhere with constant diarrhea and vomitting when you go.

Let’s keep it in Africa, with all the other savage things, shall we?

  • nexus974

I’m fine with helping those in need. I’m not interested in putting my family at risk.

  • fuzzypook

No one was forced to go to Liberia. It was completely voluntary. When the former slaves got there they promptly tried to enslave the indigenous population.

  • 1G25

    N-lovers are repulsive idiots.

  • Uncle Bob

This has got to be the dumbest damned excuse I’ve heard in a long time to avoid taking action against this very real threat to national security. How many more mass panics like the one in Dallas are we going to be subjected to before there is travel ban from West Africa?
This is criminal negligence on the part of our leaders and we desperately need new leadership. Meanwhile, the government continues to buy up all the HAZMAT suits being produced and we are told to remain calm.

  • Jack Burton

“Quammen: You can’t isolate neighborhoods, you can’t isolate nations. It doesn’t work.”

Yes you can, and it does work. That’s the whole purpose of quarantine, IT DOES WORK. It’s the only thing that actually works with an outbreak, that’s why it’s standard procedure.

“Quammen: I mean, we in America, how dare we turn our backs on Liberia given the fact that this is a country that was founded in the 1820s, 1830s because of American slavery. We have a responsibility to stay connected to them and help them see this through.”

So then he’s implying other nations do have a right to ban Liberian immigration since they had nothing to do with its founding?

That’s really nonsensical reasoning. Slavery and how it was founded have nothing to do with quarantining an outbreak. He’s basically saying we owe it to Liberians to risk infecting ourselves. He’s not just a moron, he’s a dangerous moron.

He’s not an “expert,” he’s a science fiction writer who is also paid to write about his travel experiences for National Geographic.

Like a typical stupid liberal, he believes that zoonotic viruses are actually a good thing because it reminds us that we are all connected! So I supposed when he’s a victim of the black violence, in his warped, delusional mind he’ll think this is just another way he’s connected to black people!

    • Malgus

      “He’s not just a moron, he’s a dangerous moron.”

This. Totally unqualified guy – who literally makes stuff up for a living and writes glorified travel brochures – saying that quarantine doesn’t work, even though the first step the CDC takes when dealing with infectious diseases is… quarantine.

He has no credentials in infectious diseases, virology, no medical degree, nothing… that anyone would bill him as an “Ebola expert” is outright fraud, bordering on the criminal.

He is a dangerous fool… as well as the others saying that we can only fight Ebola effectively in Africa – like the talking head for the CDC making the rounds. The first thing the CDC does is quarantine, but the front man for the CDC is saying quarantining western Africa – either them from us or us from them – is not a workable idea.

This will break bad… it’s like allowing “just one” zombie into your country, then losing track of him for days, then allowing him to stroll into a 1000 bed critical care hospital in a major metropolitan area…. “Nothing to see here. Everyone is safe.”

      Yeah… like anyone believes that.

  • John R

Founded “because of American slavery”? Uhhh, no. It was founded because some do-gooders, back in the 1820’s and 30’s decided to do something to help the slaves in America. Well, as they say, “No good deed goes unpunished.”

  • Jim

More proof that political correctness qualifies as a religion: You should be willing to DIE from a deadly disease – or allow your countrymen to become infected and die – before breaking the tenets of political correctness. If that isn’t emotional and non-rationally based zealotry, I don’t know what is.

  • baldridge999

Wouldn’t you all just like to bitch slap liberal clowns like this guy at least once?

Nothing, even deadly diseases, can be allowed to get in the way of the system’s white genocide program.

  • You WILL be made to feel GUILTY for slavery because you’re WHITE ..

    • DonReynolds

If you believe slavery is wrong, then you can be shamed into guilt. I do not find it was wrong, so no amount of shaming is going to provoke feelings of guilt on my part.
But if you actually believe that slavery is not in the future of the USA (again), you need to revisit your crystal ball. It can easily happen again and probably will.

  • Jim

Hey you guys, slavery has caused a lot of bad things. I found some moldy cheese in the fridge, and I said, “what caused this?” Then it dawned on me…slavery. Just this morning I heard a strange noise coming from under the hood as I was driving…and guess what? Yup, more slavery.

  • Teresa Nichols

Let’s follow this retarded line of logic.

If my great grandfather treated another person unfairly back in his day-maybe underpaid him, or perhaps beat him up-does that now mean I have to bestow that persons great grandchildren a lifetime, VIP pass to my household?

And if so, does that still apply even when they are possibly carrying a deadly, communicable disease that could be passed on to me and my loved ones? Am I required to fling open my front door and welcome these highly contagious, diseased individuals with open arms and sit them down to the dinner table with my children and other members of my family?

And what was the reason for this again? Because my great grandfather treated their great grandfather unfairly at some point in time in the distant past when I, nor my unwelcome guests were yet born?

Obviously, it’s a ridiculous line of logic, because as usual, like most liberal notions, there is no logic involved, just more pathetic, self-flagellation passing itself off as some kind of “social justice”.

  • DelmarJackson

Maybe if we get Liberia to nationalize their USA coco cola factory the way Cuba did theirs in 1960 and then we can cut off all flights to them the way we did Cuba.

  • Look_A_Squirrel

It’s time history told the truth about how slavery came to the US. It was a black African and former indentured servant who sued to legalize his ownership of another black as a “slave for life” and NOT an indentured servant. Slavery was customary in Africa but not the colonies. Anthony Johnson went to court maintaining that John Casor was not an indentured servant soon to be released but Johnson’s slave. On March 8, 1655 the colony of Virginia found in Johnson’s favor, legalizing slavery.

  • Cymboli

If the Liberians would stop being superstitious retards, then perhaps I might agree. However, they are still kissing dead bodies, rolling around in filth and refusing to go to the hospital when they get sick. Further, even with full travel allowed, most of the people in that country cannot afford to come here. Even if we banned travel, we would continue to help them for the very reasons outlined in this article. All that being said, i’m really getting tired of everyone blaming race on everything.
