Controversial Speaker Ignites Community

Jeremy Bauer-wolf, The Towerlight, October 3, 2012

Although the White Student Union has yet to gain official University recognition, members held their first interest meeting Tuesday, featuring Jared Taylor, president of the non-profit New Century Foundation.

{snip}

Taylor said in his speech that he does not consider himself to be a white supremacist, but rather, he is developing an identity for white people, who he said are diminishing as a race.

{snip}

Matthew Heimbach, the unofficial president and face of the White Student Union, said that within the next two weeks the White Student Union plans to hold another event, an “affirmative action bake sale,” in which they will charge different racial groups different prices for baked goods.

Whites will be charged $2, Asians will be charged $1.75, Hispanics will be charged $1, Native Americans will be charged 75 cents and black people will be charged 50 cents.

Heimbach said he is charging whites the most to illustrate the racial discrimination against whites.

Associate Vice President of Campus Life Teri Hall said that, as a non-affiliate group, Heimbach should not be able to hold the bake sale.

“Charging different races items for the same product would be considered discriminatory and that would be something the University would not support,” she said.

Though the group is not SGA affiliated, Heimbach was able to rent University space with a 200-seat capacity and security, a total of 13 Towson University police officers.

The original cost, $3,600, was cut by more than half, to $1,600, in a collaborative decision made by TUPD and administration, Vice President of Student Affairs Deb Moriarity said.

Heimbach said he collected the funds from local community members, who he did not name, and Taylor’s group.

“[The cut] was our attempt to show good faith and not block the event, and have reasonable costs associated with that,” Moriarity said.

Despite the security measures, at the end of the event, five male individuals, who have not yet been identified, barged in through a door behind Taylor, screaming curses and obscenities, calling Taylor a racist.

The individuals then ran down the stairs. TUPD is currently investigating the identity of the suspects, according to Deputy Chief of Police Charles Herring.

Heimbach said he was disappointed with TUPD’s response to the incident.

“You could get from the doorway to the podium far quicker than what it would take for the police officers to respond,” he said. “I think that’s either … incompetence or simply being in cahoots, not necessarily with individuals, but with the idea of the event being disrupted. I would never accuse anyone at the University of being complicit with criminal acts, but it seems odd that such a glaring security omission was made.”

Herring said that TUPD performed several inspections of the room, Chesapeake III, prior to the event and that at 2 p.m., the door the students burst through was locked from the inside. An officer at that post also checked the door right before the event began.

A key is required to unlock the door, Herring said.

Taylor’s main argument was that diversity is a negative aspect of the United States, and often resulted in unnecessary conflicts between races.

If given the choice, he said in his speech, an individual will always associate with someone of the same race, gender, education level and philosophies. [Editor’s Note: Mr. Taylor actually said most individuals prefer associating with people like themselves.]

{snip}

Taylor said that though Towson was one of the more unwelcoming Universities he’s addressed, administration handled the event well.

“The sense I got from students in the room was that they’re hostile to whites having any sort of rights at all,” he said. “I’m a little bit surprised to see what extent that is a double standard. It’s quite astonishing to me that every other racial group has rights and can organize, but not whites. That seems like racial discrimination to me.”

Morarity stressed that the University is not preventing the White Student Union from forming, but rather the group does not meet one of the requirements, a faculty adviser, to become SGA affiliated.

Asians should have to pay $2.25 at the bake sale!!!

    • C_C_Conrad

The charges could also be based on which groups are allowed to have a student union on campus.   The oppressed whites that are not allowed to have one should get theirs for free.

    • “Asians should have to pay $2.25 at the bake sale!!!” Gee another one ! Huh, NO since they can, and already have their own students union unlike Whites.  That’s the point of the bake sale, Sherlock, as stated in the article:

“Heimbach said he is charging whites the most to illustrate the racial discrimination against whites.”

Let me also remind you smarty pants that mongoloids get plenty of SCHOLARHIPS based on their race unlike Whites:

Please tell me all about that White “Privilege” would you kindly?

“Ignites” is a term of momentum in MSM.  If the building housing the room that holds the first WSU meeting goes up in flames, you’ll know how the code works…

  • Rather than the bake sale analogy why not this: Let’s say Asians achieve a score of 100 on a test, 10 points are deducted and given to a black student, 6 points given to an Hispanic student, 3 points given to a Native American student and 1 point given to a White student. This would solve so many problems in universities today. Test scores would equalize across racial lines, more minorities would achieve passing grades and Asians who are apparently more fortunate would be able to give their fair share to others needing a fair shot.

    • APaige

Is that similar to race-norming tests? I believe the U.S government used to do that on civil service exams until the early 1980’s? So under your plan the Asian and white would still get an ‘A’, the Hispanic a high ‘C’/low ‘B, and the black would get a low ‘D’.

  • Indiana Guy

The university gives money to different racial and ethnic ‘”clubs”, all the while refusing to let whites have such a club. She is practicing what she is preaching against.

But colleges charge white out of state students more than they charge Mexican invaders.  Do I need to mention all of the special programs that exist for blacks at these colleges?

Does anyone have a link to that famous essay about the sliding scale of admissions for various races of students using their SAT scores?  It noted that blacks were admitted with the lowest scores, then Hispanics, then whites, then Asians.  It also noted that whites who had rural and non SWPL activities on their applications, like FFA (not Future Felons of America) and 4-H and JRROTC were less likely to get in than whites who did leftist PC activities.

Just say, No it’s Affirmative Reaction.

The DOUBLETHINK is just obscene. We truly are in an Orwellian era.

Dear Teri Hall, ever hear of affirmative action which sets different standards for admission and quotas based on RACE?
    You have no integrity.

  • They can be sued. Legal action is the best.

  • 5n4k33y3s

The bake sale plan is hilarious. Also, the weak response from the hired security was predictable.

  • Sloppo

If they are criticized by the faculty for discriminating, perhaps they should just explain that they charge whites more because they didn’t meet the faculty advisor requirement.  Then they’re just doing to whites what the school did to whites and it would be okay.

  • .

Morarity stressed that the University is not preventing the White Student Union from forming, but rather the group does not meet one of the requirements, a faculty adviser, to become SGA affiliated.

Of course, the faculty intends to make sure that no one with views different from their own ever gets hired there.

    • I don’t think that’s exactly the problem (we would be comparatively lucky if it were)–rather, it’s that America’s Boko Haram, i.e., the thuggish IQ-challenged Marxist/antifa groups (the ones that work to shut down the Amren conferences for example) would probably terrorize any professor who would sponsor the group–vandalizing his car, his office, threatening students who attend his classes, etc.

  • We’re forever being told we need a dialog on race. How is this controversial?

  • The bake sale idea is tired and tacky and shows that Amren may have been putting its eggs in the wrong basket with this Heimbach dude.  I see two perfectly practical and legitimate reasons for the White Student Union: (1) to speak up for the interests of white students when other ethnic group student unions, in particular the black and Hispanic, argue for higher levels of affirmative action or for a greater proportion of scholarships to be allocated to them at the expense of whites; and (2) to bring attention to and counter anti-white propaganda taught by either leftist professors or the campus Diversity office.  (Frequently the latter, to justify its large budget, needs to engage in demonization of whites, Heimbach’s group can serve to publicly counter that.)  But beyond that, when neither of that is happening, Heimbach’s group should be quiet or focus on doing good charitable works throughout the community,  or possibly doing read/study groups of conservative literature.

I suspect most of the minority students opposed to a WSU are not opposed for reasons of racism as they claim, rather, they just want any petitions of their respective student groups for a bigger piece of the university pie to go unscrutinized.  Also, the Diversity office is heavily leery of any group that would challenge their anti-white reasons for more funding.  Heimbach will be at this best when he’s focused purely on that (positions that actually can attract principled minorities) rather than on cheesy bake sale stunts.

  • Barrack Osama

The university is obviously aware of affirmative action. But there are some mental gymnastics going on that allow extreme liberals to rationalize things like AA and the the bake sale as somehow different. I really wish I could imagine what those reasons might be, but it is probably so ridiculous that I couldn’t make it up so I won’t try.

  • AmericanTaxPayerNoMore

I reckon being a White “Supremacist” is allowing oneself to be a stuck up.  No one likes a snob.  I’m a White “Supremacist” but only in the Webster’s Definition and that makes me a snob.  I’ll try to change that.  I’ll never stop believing The White Peoples are the Best though.

  • AmRem

    Good luck WSU.

I hope many are to follow their example

  • “..at the end of the event, five male individuals, who have not yet been identified, barged in through a door behind Taylor, screaming curses and obscenities, calling Taylor a racist. The individuals then ran down the stairs. ”

Oh man, I’m sorry I missed that.
