Protesters Smash ‘Migrant Coaches’ With Paving Slabs
The Telegraph, October 8, 2026
Anti-migrant protesters vandalised two coaches they claimed had been used to transport asylum seekers.
Paving slabs were thrown through the windows of the coaches while they were parked at a service station near Southampton on Sunday night.
Vandals also punctured the vehicles’ tyres and pulled off a wing mirror during the incident, which happened at Rownhams Services off the M27.
It had been claimed that the coaches were among those used to transport small boat migrants who arrived at Gosport, Hampshire, on Sunday.
Almost 150 migrants were brought ashore by two RNLI boats as around 350 protesters demonstrated in the town, with some shouting “send them back”, “you’re not welcome” and “we don’t want you”.
Police arrested 11 men and a woman on suspicion of offences including assaulting a police officer, possession of a “pyrotechnic article” and obstructing an ambulance.
