Gauff, 22, announced that she would not be competing at the final WTA 1000 tournament of the year on Wednesday.
It comes just two days after Gauff was embroiled in a ‘cheating’ scandal at the China Open that led to her being racially abused on social media.

Gauff had been 5-4 down in her third-round tie against Sun when she patted a straightforward volley over the net.
Sun dispatched it with ease for a winner but as she did so, Gauff threw her arms up in complaint.
She told the chair umpire that she had been distracted by a sponsor change on the electronic advertising boards.
With the point replayed, Gauff wrestled back momentum to win the first set and then power her way to victory in the second.
