Illegal Immigrant on Run Crashes Into Mayor’s Wife, Sends Her to Hospital

An illegal immigrant fleeing from federal immigration authorities crashed into the wife of a New Jersey mayor, sending her to the hospital Sept. 2, according to authorities.

The illegal immigrant suspect fled at high speed, ran a red light, and then crashed into a separate vehicle after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents attempted to conduct a traffic stop in North Brunswick on Sept. 2.

Authorities identified the driver of the second car as Dr. Penelope Cohen, the wife of Democrat East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen. She was hospitalized after suffering a non-life-threatening leg injury, according to authorities.

The suspect then fled the crash scene on foot but was later apprehended by ICE agents.

Democrat New Jersey Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman blamed ICE for the crash, claiming the agency’s actions endangered innocent people.
