At Least Five Girls Went to the HUCE for Cases of Rape, but There Are Still No Arrests

At least five migrant girls or adolescents who have recently arrived from Morocco went to the University Hospital of Ceuta (HUCE) during this last week to be treated after allegedly being raped. Health sources clarify to the Pueblo that the number may be slightly higher because some young women, before or after having been examined, do not file a complaint; and that the victims in question received at the HUCE do not exceed 14 years of age.

The Ceuta Prosecutor’s Office was aware until Thursday night of two of these cases of sexual assaults that have borne fruit in the opening of preliminary proceedings, but also confirmed to this newspaper that no arrests had yet been made in order to prosecute those accused of these alleged rapes.

The legal procedures that have to take place for these complaints to result in convictions include medical reports that prove vaginal penetration or other derived injuries, as well as the collection of the testimonies of the victims, whose credibility is assumed if they are persistent and credible. Other evidence that can be provided is recordings from security cameras in the area, eyewitness statements or police reports.
