Baltimore Police Arrest Safe Streets Worker in Park Heights Avenue Shooting

A 51-year-old man, identified as a Safe Streets worker with the Safe Streets Belvedere site, has been arrested in connection with a nonfatal shooting from Sunday on Park Heights Avenue, the Baltimore Police Department announced Monday.
Antoine Burton allegedly shot a 40-year-old man on Sunday night in north Baltimore, according to officials.
On June 7, around 7:25 p.m., officers were patrolling the area when they heard shots being fired in the 4400 block of Park Heights Avenue.
As officers searched the area, police said they located a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim, identified as a 40-year-old man, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to authorities.
Shortly after the shooting, officers apprehended Burton in the 2400 block of Loyola Northway.
He was subsequently transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and multiple handgun violations.
The Safe Streets program was established in 2007 in an effort to reduce gun violence across the city.
