Police have shot and wounded the woman–who reportedly attacked two people on a bus before wounding another nearby in the Belgian capital.
She refused to stand down so police opened fire, according to local media, shooting her in the arm.
The woman reportedly stabbed one person in the stomach, and one in the back on the bus before fleeing to a nearby gallery, RTL reports
In the gallery she left one person with a minor wound before being stopped by the cops.
Mayor Armand de Decker told local media: “When police arrived the person threatened an old lady with a knife wickedly.
“The police ordered her to drop the knife, she did not.
“They shot her in the arm, and that was it done.”
The attack is reported to have started after the woman was heard having an argument.
The injuries sustained by the victims have been described as “non life-threatening.”
The press secretary of the mayor Armand De Decker confirmed the injuries.
Police sources have revealed that the woman was Asian and had a history of mental illness.
Detectives do not believe this was a terrorist incident, according to RT.
Brussels has been on high alert since local ISIS militants carried out the attacks in Paris last November and suicide bombings in the Belgian capital in March.
