Hillary Says Too Many Black Men Are in Jail

Marisa Schultz, New York Post, August 7, 2015

Hillary Clinton pledged Thursday to reform the nation’s criminal justice system if elected, saying it’s “clear as could be” that it favors white suspects.

Speaking on the Rev. Al Sharpton’s radio show, Clinton pointed to the “tragic set of facts” that show too many Americans are behind bars and they are disproportionately black men.

“It is unfortunately clear as it could be that there is a bias in favor of white men who are arrested or charged with the very same offenses as African-American men,” Clinton said.

The Democratic presidential front-runner called for sentencing reform, alternatives to prison and smarter community policing.
