Jeb Bush Allies in 2013: He’s a ‘Gringo Aplatanado,’ ‘He’s Gone Native’ as a Hispanic

Matthew Boyle, Breitbart, April 6, 2015

With the news breaking that former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush called himself “Hispanic” on his 2009 voter registration form–and that in 2012 he called himself Florida’s first-ever Latino governor–it’s worth revisiting a 2013 profile of him in the Washington Post that found friends of his referring to him as having “gone native” as a Hispanic.

Bush is a “gringo aplatanado,” said Jorge Arrizurieta–a Miami businessman who worked with Bush’s gubernatorial administration on various trade issues in Latin America. A phrase the Post’s Manuel Roig-Franzia and Peter Wallsten wrote translates roughly to mean “he’s gone native.”

The Post writers said Jeb Bush is an “honorary Hispanic,” something that dates back to the 1970s when he met his wife Columba–a Mexican citizen.

{snip}

Bush’s team says he made a mistake  when he stated in a legal document that he’s Hispanic.

“It’s unclear where the paperwork error was made,” Bush spokeswoman Kristy Campbell said in an email in response to a New York Times article on his 2009 voter registration form. “The Governor’s family certainly got a good laugh out of it. He is not Hispanic.”

Bush himself, and his son Jeb, Jr., played it off a little bit differently via Twitter. His son playfully suggested that Jeb checked the wrong box, then the former Florida Governor and likely 2016 presidential candidate admitted to doing so–both using the hash tag “Honorary Latino.”

{snip}

“Culturally, Jeb is even more Hispanic than many in the young generation of Hispanics in America today,” former American Conservative Union (ACU) chairman Al Cardenas told the Washington Post for that 2013 profile. Cardenas is a close friend of Bush’s who was pushed out of his ACU leadership role after failures the past couple years. “Not only is his cultural affinity seamless with us, but he speaks the language, something that probably 50 percent of the younger generation do not. He’s totally bilingual and bicultural in every sense.”

Miami Dade County mayor Carlos Gimenez said for the Post profile that Jeb Bush is a permanent Hispanic. “There’s never an Anglo Jeb and then a turn-on-the-Hispanic Jeb,” Gimenez said.

“He’s totally bilingual and bicultural in every sense.”

Which is precisely one more reason why he won’t win. Blatant, shallow, phoney pandering to hispanics, on top of his family name, are a strategy for complete failure. I hope everyone gets that early on.

    • TruthBeTold

I’d love to say he’d never get the nomination but I can’t.

      • Lt. Greyman, NVA

OK, I’ll save you. . He’ll never get the nomination..I know, you’re thinking, if the Socialist/Half Kenyan got it, how can I be sure a moderate/White, So-called Conservative not get it?..Different constitutes.

      • But he may win Florida and Texas, so maybe. We unfortunately have to adjust to new realities. I understand your frustrations, but lets use some of the Hispanics the way the blacks have used the White liberals.

        • Earl P. Holt III

Jeb Bush win TEXAS??? (What are you SMOKING???)

          • Boycott News Corp

            Agreed.

          • Alden

            His brother was governor

          • Earl P. Holt III

We Texans aren’t big fans of nepotism. Ted Cruz will win in a landslide: Bank on it…

    • Fighting_Northern_Spirit

Don’t we have every indication that his pandering is real? I’d hardly call it phony when he pollutes his bloodline with them.

    • Mahound

      Bisexual even?

  • There’s another name for a white man who calls himself an Hispanic–race traitor. The ugly munchkin in the pic is his wife, who is a “pure bred” Hispanic.

    • Susannah

Oddly enough, George the 3rd looks even more Hispanic than his mother, or at least as much so.

      • Luca

Sort of looks like the Bush’s gardener, Pedro. Hey, wait a minute!

        • Earl P. Holt III

          You made me LOL…

      • Notice he has a blonde white wife. These Hispanics love their white women. When they can get one. He can because of family money.

        • Publius Pompilius Quietus

I don’t blame non-white men for wanted white women; white women are the most beautiful women in the world. I blame the system for promoting such miscegenation.

          • Americaandthewestshouldbewhite

yes hollywood and we all know who pulls the strings there promoting miscegenation.

          • Boycott News Corp

Fox News promotes it as well.

          • ElComadreja

It’s not our fault that their women are butt ugly with attitudes to match.

      • SentryattheGate

George the 3rd campaigned in 2000 for his Uncle George. The signs they brought were in Spanish only! When I asked the campaign team about that, I was told “Yeah so what! We brought them with us from Iowa!” gloating that the Hispanic invasion was not just on the coasts, but deep into the intereior also!

      • Samuel Hathaway

George P. the half-Mexican son, does indeed look a hint darker than Columba. But there’s hope. The baby looks whiter, and perhaps will grow up to repair the family damage, marry back into white and have white offspring.

        • Americaandthewestshouldbewhite

Well if Columba has any black blood, then that is not good because even though one of them has amrried a white woman, the dreaded black gene will always be there.

    • Bossman

So senators Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Menendez are not white because they are also Hispanic? Is it only Mexican Mestizos who can be “Hispanic”? Can learning Spanish and liking Mexican food turn anyone into a “Hispanic”? Your post seems to indicate all the above.

      • Johann Wald

Don’t be an idiot. “White”, as commonly accepted and defined by most of the participants of this board, is not only being Caucasian. It’s a person of European descent and ancestry, with no “people of color” or other contaminants in the woodpile, whose traditional religious orientation is Christianity. That definition eliminates 6 of the 9 people in the above picture.

        • Bossman

By that strict definition most white Americans would not be really white.

          • Tom in MI

Many would not be. That’s part of the reason why Asians score higher on IQ tests than “whites”.

          • Johann Wald

I was born in 1952. Then, our numbers somewhere in the vicinity of 90-95%. Now its slipped to roughly 70% no thanks to a certain traitorous group that pushes open borders from behind the curtain. Keep trying. Remember, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

          • Bossman

I believe you to be wrong about that. The USA has always had a black population of about 10 to 15 % and as for so-called Hispanics, they were always labeled as white until the 1970s. Segregation may have made it felt like 95% white. I wasn’t around so I don’t know how it looked.

          • stedman holder

Uh, no they weren’t, research your fact rather than spout gibberish.

          • BlueSonicStreak

The black population hasn’t differed too much in terms of percentage in the decades since the 50s.

Wikipedia states that about 85% of Hispanics were rolled into the white numbers prior to 1980, and also lists the Census numbers for Latinos as being 1.4% in 1940 up to 16.3% in 2010. Assuming the 1.4% number is not adjusted (or I haven’t misunderstood something), that’s a comparison of 9.3% of the population to 16.3%, i.e. the Hispanic population was coming close to doubling 5 years ago.

          • ElComadreja

They still label them as “white” in the crime stats.

          • Samuel Hathaway

The “white” label was wrong then in the 1950s and it is wrong now to call hispanic mestizos “white.”

          • ElComadreja

            Only Criollos are white.

          • Lexonaut

When I was in high school in NYC back in 1958 I briefly had a an almost-girlfriend who was from Puerto Rico. The relationship ended abruptly when she angrily told me one day that she was not Puerto Rican, that she was Hispanic.

I had no idea what she was talking about. She was an olive complected girl, but I tan easily and in mid summer would have been darker than she. As far as I was concerned she wasn’t black and she wasn’t Jewish, nor was she Chinese or Japanese, so she must have been white, just like the kids on the Sicilian block I spent my early years on.

As far as I was concerned there was nothing wrong with being Puerto Rican, and I had never heard the term Hispanic before though it was obvious that it was Spanish for Spanish. I decided that I really didn’t want to hang out with her any more if she was going to go around with some weird chip on her shoulder.

It was not till we moved west in 1978 that I ever thought about “Hispanic” as a racial term, and then only because everyone around me was making a big deal about it. Today I make a distinction between Hispanics (many of my neighbors, good people who care about property values) and Latinos (on par with renters).

          • stedman holder

Yes they would , just like your homeys would be.

          • Samuel Hathaway

Your jealousy is showing. “White Americans would not be really white.” Whatever you think you are, may we just call it an illusion, a deception, a lie?

Your attitude is nothing new. White America was dragged through the mud over the Sally Hemings-Thomas Jefferson lies. The whole point of the sex scandal mongers tellng us that whites aren;’t really as white as they claim to be, that there is no virtue in whiteness, and most asburd, that the descendants of Sally Hemings “proves” that African-Americans (gag) played a central role in the founding and building of America.

          • notyranny

TJ and Hennings is all propaganda, do a little more research. He never touched her nor had any desire to.

          • Samuel Hathaway

It’s Hemings, not Hennings, and yes, this subject has been a fascinating debate now for 17 years. Keep on your bookshelves two titles, Jefferson and Hemings, An American Travesty and In Defense of Thomas Jefferson to keep fresh the side of the story that you’re not supposed to know.

          • notyranny

“The Jefferson Lies” highlights archival documentation etc. nevertheless it’s the usual search and destroy tactic of the Left. Must destroy the foundation of the Country before it can be replaced,

          • Blackfish

Even if I accept your assertion – and I believe that DNA analysis proved otherwise – there are still millions of mixed race blacks in this country. You can immediately spot a recent immigrant from Africa because their skin is so much darker. Miscegenation is the other side of the coin of slavery in America. I see the evidence every day when I see the results, albeit many generations later.

          • notyranny

Jefferson was in France at the time of her impregnation however his brother was known to frequent the slave houses. This is the Jefferson DNA you speak of.

          • Alden

Which conception? She had 6 and Jefferson was around some of the time
            Maybe it was several Jeffersons

Her Father was also the Father of Jefferson’s wife.

          • Alden

Some White man touched her and both her grandmothers and great grandmothers
She was classified as White in the 1820 census

          • Jews and Arabs are only a small percentage of the population. I am “White” btw.

        • BlueSonicStreak

What does religion have to do with this? Many of the greatest men of our race have not been Christian; an annoying little fact that Christian white nationalists like to conveniently forget.

          • Lt. Greyman, NVA

Easy fella, no enemies to the White of You.

          • BlueSonicStreak

White Christians who reject non-Christian whites AS white are enemies. In particular, white Christians who reject pagans (various forms of paganism being the original white European religion) are anti-white. And white Christians who want to impose mandatory Christianity on white populations are – in light of the historical evidence – opposed to white technological and scientific advancement, i.e. opposed to the forward progress of our people.

But yes, they can be dealt with later, when other threats have been disposed of.

          • Samuel Hathaway

Closer to home, Thomas Jefferson, though not an orthodox Christian himself, is to be thanked for religious freedom in this country. i wouldn’t call Jefferson a pagan, he was more a Deist who didn’t accept the divinity of Christ. As an evangelical Christian myself, the pre-Christian Europe of the Ancient Greece and Roman eras are still worth our time and attention to understand the formation of our nation. How many people know that the first republic was established in Rome in 509 B.C? How many know that the United States is the first Republic since Rome?

And of course, Athenian democracy and the names of the days of the weeks, like Thursday, named for Thor, Norse god of the thunder, speak to the thorough influence of Europe over our nation. And it should remain so. The New Testament, originally written in Greek, not Hebrew, shows a favor Christianity bestowed on European expressions for its first editions.

Clearly, white atheists, pagans, evolutionists are well represented on AR; nevertheless, I am sympathetic to their views on race and multiculturalism and do not view them as an enemy in any way over the fact that they are not Christian. I find their insights on race quite educational and I value their input and will continue to do so. But I do not compromise one iota on Christianity or the divinity of Jesus Christ, which is not incompatible with scientific knowledge for managing and solving some of societies most pressing issues.

          • BlueSonicStreak

Clearly, white atheists, pagans, evolutionists are well represented on AR; nevertheless, I am sympathetic to their views on race and multiculturalism and do not view them as an enemy in any way over the fact that they are not Christian.

I thank you for that sir, and hold no animosity to you personally. But I do think you have quite the blind spot going when you suggest that, really, ANY theism is “not incompatible” with scientific knowledge. To quote one of the most salient points of Tim Minchin’s brilliant “Storm” poem:

Science adjusts its views based on what’s observed.
Faith is the denial of observation so that belief can be preserved.

The most basic nature of spiritual belief is opposed to scientific inquiry. We’re talking a fundamental conflict of interest here.

(And denial of observation, even under the NAME of science, is really not science and is, at a minimum, quasi-religious. But I think we all know that.)

All human societies would be better off without religion. Unfortunately, most of us seem to be hardwired to produce religion. That being the case, I would rather see whites embrace originally white pagan religions.

There is more wrong with Christianity than I can even begin to encapsulate in a single comment. It’s a destructive force in the world, disguised by feel-good emotionalism much like liberalism. Sooner or later, for the good of all, it has to go. But that is going to be many, many generations from now, I’m sure.

          • notyranny

If Man truly has any understanding of The Universe it is God given, outside of that it is arrogance. Everyday there is new science proving yesterday’s science was wrong. So who really knows?

          • BlueSonicStreak

LOL. Stating that someone is anti-white if they reject other whites, reject European religions and reject the best chances for white advancement on the basis of their affiliation with a Middle Eastern religion is “NUTS,” is it?

This is what INTENSE projection looks like, friends.

          • Americaandthewestshouldbewhite

If you researcxh properly, Christianity was Europeanized and it made Europe and western culture what it is until the commies and white libs hijacked it.

          • BlueSonicStreak

Go on and describe what you think “Europeanized” in this context means without crediting paganism at all. Should be funny.

White people made Europe and Western culture what it is, or every place in the world where Christianity is a major religion would look like white countries.

          • Americaandthewestshouldbewhite

Blue see how Homosexucality was eradtcated from Greece and Ireland thanks to Christianity. I do admit that the european part is a bit pagan, but the rest is all purely Christian.

          • BlueSonicStreak

Silliness. Homosexuality is immutable – possibly from early childhood onward, but more likely from birth – and couldn’t possibly be “eradicated” through any cultural means.

I suppose you could make the argument that culture sometimes forces homosexual behaviour underground; but Christian Europe had gay subcultures dating back to the 17th century at least. The start of gay liberation dates back to the middle of the 19th century – in Europe, not America.

And what about being anti-gay is exclusively Christian? Some parts of the world had some level of acceptance of homosexuality, and some parts did not. Neither was exclusive to Europe or Christianity at any point.

          • Americaandthewestshouldbewhite

Research what I have stated and do not argue.

          • BlueSonicStreak

Oh, f^ck off. You really believe the garbage you write, but I don’t have to entertain it.

          • Americaandthewestshouldbewhite

Neither will I entertain your language and your stupidity.

          • BlueSonicStreak

Then do NOT reply to me with your nonsense, ever.

          • Robert Smith

I think you are inventing an enemy that doesn’t exist.

          • newscomments70

Other than Jim Morrison’s ex-girlfriend, who the hell is a pagan? How many Christians do you know want to impose mandatory Christianity on white populations? Every church I have ever been to is overtly liberal. We’re not a Christian version of ISIS, and this board is mostly secular. Some disdain Jews because about 80% are moderate to far left democrats. “But yes, they can be dealt with later, when other threats have been disposed of.” huh?

          • BlueSonicStreak

How many Christians? Very few. How many white nationalists? Quite a lot – you’re not paying attention. It’s a common sentiment that a white ethnostate will be mandatorially Christian. Look, the person I originally replied to thinks white non-Christian whites aren’t even white – or did everyone forget how the exchange started? And this is actually the most secular WN forum I’ve seen so far.

As for my last statement, I do think the evil of Christianity will be recognized eventually, and it will be wiped out. But not in my lifetime, unfortunately.

          • newscomments70

Ok, I see. When I read it, I was sitting on a train in front of a Persian woman who was coughing on me and talking loud on the cell phone. I should have read the rest of the exchange. That being said, I don’t consider AMREN a WN site, but race realist. ” It’s a common sentiment that a white ethnostate will be mandatorially Christian.” That is probably true, but such a scenario is so unlikely, I don’t believe it is worthy of concern. Radical Islam is highly likely, and it is actually proliferating throughout the Middle East, Africa, and Western Europe. That is a more urgent situation.

          • BlueSonicStreak

Yes, we completely agree about Islam. It is a larger concern for the moment, being far more dangerous.

        • AndrewInterrupted

“Caucasian” is a misnomer. It was a trick perpetrated by Khazarians to blend/infiltrate into European lands. Caucasians actually hail from the Caucasus Mountains, the epicenter of Khazaria. Don’t be fooled, Khazars are not White, just infiltrators.

yeah, knew a white guy who moved down to Mexico, has a Mexican wife, journalist for a military publication always writing anti-israel/anti-war pieces, called me a bigot for talking about Radical Islam and the problems Mexican immigration brings… he lives in Mexico and considers himself Mexican and speaks of Mexico like “We Mexicans” “Us” “our”… he literally considers himself a Mexican, less of an ex-pat…

No one else. The game is rigged.

    • Uh no, not with his numerous statements in support of amnesty and open borders.

I will say this. This is something that just occurred to me about two hours ago.

In the 1964 Republican primary and caucus season, Nelson Rockefeller bashed and trashed Barry Goldwater for being too bellicose and for wanting to start wars.

In the 1976 Republican primary and caucus season, Gerald Ford bashed and trashed Ronald Reagan for being too bellicose and for wanting to start wars.

In the 2016 Republican primary and caucus season, people in the Jeb Bush orbit are bashing and trashing Rand Paul for not being bellicose and not wanting to start wars.

Precisely when did the Republican establishment do a 180?

      • Rhialto

The Repubs have been in spin mode since 1964.

      • Xerxes22

It started with Ronald Reagan. He bombed Libya and invaded Grenada and said that we are at war with International Terrorism. Since then, many Republicans have become supporters of war especially if it benefits a certain small mid eastern country.

      • Michael Robert Ryan

Probably at the same time that the Democratic establishment did a 180. If you’ll remember correctly, Johnson painted Goldwater as some trigger-happy cowboy that was going to get us all nuked, but by the time Goldwater died, those on the left were painting Goldwater as some paragon of Republican moderation that they wished most other Republicans could be like (this was mostly because of Goldwater’s libertarianesque views on social issues like homosexuality and abortion.)

Walker is a bad choice. His union bashing may be popular with the Fox crowd but not with most Americans and it won’t win him the White House. Also the man has some serious ethics issues. I predict that Walker will implode along with that Tony Soprano wannabe from New Jersey.

As I look around at the Republicans who have declared or will probably declare, I don’t see a one of them who have shown me that they have what it takes to win those states or enough of them to matter in the EC math.

Ted Cruz only seems to think that if the red states get redder, everything will be alright.

Rand Paul thinks that the road to the White House goes through the black college student who smokes weed.

Scott Walker thinks that his Wisconsin accomplishments scale well up to national politics, and they don’t.

Jeb Bush is coasting on his last name.

Krispy Christie thinks that all we need to do is nominate a northeastern blue state Governor. Which worked out so well for Mitt Romney.

John Kasich? Let the whole world in and then put them on Medicaid.

        • AndrewInterrupted

He needs to temper and qualify his union stance.

He needs to say: “There are good unions (police and fire) and bad unions (education and government).”

There has to be distinctions and lines of demarcation. The only thing between a Policeman’s or Fireman’s job and the diversity jackals is a union.

          • That was actually his politics in Wisconsin, driving a wedge between private unions slash first responders unions and public employee and teachers unions. (His public employee union reform did not apply to first responders.) There was a long article about that in City Journal several months ago, and in passing, it explained why today’s organized labor is 100% thrown in with open borders. Because today’s organized labor is mostly public employee unions and teachers’ unions, with some unions of private service workers along side for good measure. Public employee unions want government to be as big as possible and therefore hire as many people as possible, therefore, they want open borders just to import more people to vote for the big government party.

As an aside, any one of our people that keeps squaking about teachers unions and their prowess is living in the past. All you have to do is see what happened yesterday in Chicago. The CTU doesn’t even have the muscle to conquer Chicago.

I remember following the Walker/Wisconsin story more closely when the late, great Andrew Breitbart was there alongside him, wading into the grievance industry hordes.

      • John Smith

I think I’d rather have a guy who just wants to get govt. out of everyone’s lives as opposed to one who thinks another law will fix all the damage caused by all the previous laws. He’s stated his opposition to many of the Civil Rights act protections that interfere with private citizens being able to choose who they wish to do business with. It would be a huge boon if whites could decide if they wish to only sell property to or allow only other whites into their business. Not that I think this has a chance of being rolled back, but perhaps the push to expand enforcement will get rolled back.

    • Ernest

There is no real choice. Not for pro-whites. There is not one single candidate who stands up for or represents us.

Older brother George W. pushing “comprehensive immigration reform”:

“We are a nation of immigrants.”

    “We are a welcoming nation.”

“Family values don’t stop at the Rio Grande.”

“Immigrants do jobs Americans won’t do.”

Anyone assembled the collected quotations of younger brother Jeb?

    • Fed Up

Immigrants also do far more than their share with respect to committing crimes. Try living next to a couple of families of Mexican immigrants. It won’t take you long to realize what THEIR lifestyle and values are like.

Cars parked on the front lawn (isn’t that WHY the builders put a lawn out front?)

Beer parties Friday and Saturday evenings — the stench of urine in the air when you go out in the morning

Noise from car speakers half the night, especially during their beer busts

Trash tossed out the front door or a convenient window

Brown kids who are convinced they can do whatever they want — ON YOUR PROPERTY — and if you complain, you get accused of being a racist

You’ll find that’s common in Appalachia too, no negroes or Hispanics required. You can, however, usually get away with shooting them if you catch them, unlike minorities.

      • Amen to that! When I was a cop I had to work patrol in their barrios, and they are EXACTLY as you describe. Although I must say, it’s far worse having to work in a black ‘community.’ That’s sheer hell that no one be subjected to (except blacks – after all, they created their own mess!).

Both Jed and Dubya are bleeding heart “conservatives” who believe in the innate equality of all races and ethnicities and view those who believe otherwise as odious creatures with hideous views not even fit for consideration. Basically the only thing that separates them from liberals is support for tax cuts on the wealthy and a willingness to troll Fundgelicals their for votes at election time.

    • Hilis Hatki

It’s amazing how lots of money and privilege makes one so enlightened to the human condition.

I really doubt Bush is going to come anywhere close to even making it out of the RNC. Who’s crazy enough to vote for him? His heavy handed pandering to the new ‘critical’ demographic of the US is phony to even the most illiterate mestizo. Once again, the average non-wealthy white conservatives have been neglected at best, thrown under the bus at worse.

    • Yeah, who was ever going to vote for John McCain in 2008?

Remember, the more Republicans are dividing up the anti-Jeb pie, the easier it’s going to be for Jeb to win early primaries and caucuses with lame pluralities. But then he gets all the delegates just for having won the state. Eventually, opposing him will be futile and everyone else will drop out. That’s exactly how McCain did it.

Now, the Republicans have Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Scott Walker basically chasing after the same pool of ABB (Anybody But Bush) voters.

      • Hammerheart

Oh dear. you got me there, I didn’t even consider the other… ‘candidates’.

      • John Smith

I did and I’m deeply sorry because I disliked the guy even then, but not as much as Obama. I’ve since realized he was probably a palooka who intended to lie down for Barry or just had his head so far up his rectum that he did and that the RNC never really intended him to win.

  • Comes down to this. I would vote for Jeb Bush in preference to another Democrat Cultural Marxist. And to those here who disagree with me and would instead stay home, just remember what that attitude got us in the last couple years-a second term Obama!

    • ShermanTMcCoy

Perhaps one of the most depressing posts I’ve ever read.

    • Chasmania

I would rather have someone a HUNDRED times worse than Obama than a Jeb Bush.

Only thru true misery and gut wrenching attacks on our way of life are enough people going to awaken and take back what has been stolen from us over so many years.

Enemies such as Jeb and his idiot brother George hide behind the title of “conservative” while being anything BUT that. All they do is incrementally undermine our country and play footsy with their Progressive allies.

    • John Smith

I don’t want to encourage the GOP to think they can keep tacking left and playing footsie with minorities, and making this faux-beaner RINO POS the candidate will do exactly that. I’d rather let a real democrat in and have them attack me from the front than one who’s too afraid to cop to what they are stabbing me in the back.

    • Robert Smith

What has voting Republican achieved over the last 50 years? The frog in the kettle is just about dead.

      • If more people had voted Republican in the last few years, I would not have to have a radical “n-word” in the White House doing his best to destroy the country I love. Think about that.

    • Hammerheart

Let’s not forget the voter fraud scandals that’s been plaguing this country in recent years. Black Panthers enforcing polling stations, dead grannies resurrecting themselves to vote for Obama 8 times, etc…

Josef Stalin said “It’s not who votes that counts, but who counts the votes”. I think the fed’s slide to the left is firmly at the point where we should begin studying the history of the USSR to predict trends and trajectories.

It isn’t too unusual for him to identify as Hispanic. My brother is married to a Hispanic woman and he feels more Hispanic than white, he tells me. Very sad.

  • newscomments70

I’m sure part of it is an act to attract more votes. He might attract a handful, but he will actually lose more votes. More people of all races will believe that this act is ridiculous, even insulting.

  • newscomments70

This is similar to a black man with dread locks who marries a white woman and joins the Republican party. How many people would actually welcome that? It turns off people on both sides.

      that’s a good one

  • Earl P. Holt III

If we’re ready for Hillary, then I’m ready for SWITZERLAND…!

  • So even a so-called conservative Republican brags that he is not White. Pathetic. It has eaten deeply into our society: Being White is seen as something to be ashamed of. Btw, I am NOT Hispanic; I do NOT speak Spanish; I am proudly White; and, as a Christian, I am a Catholic and support the Catholic Church and the Pope. But I am only ashamed that I am not a WASP. I respect the WASP culture that built this country. Even my dad once told me (We are Irish Catholics, by heritage.) “Before World War Two, this was a WASP country. It was run better when the WASP’s were running it.”

The American Civil War was a tragedy; the Spanish-American War of 1898 was a God-awful mistake. How very much different our history would have been (and for the better) if the US never had any involvement with Puerto Rico, Cuba and the Philippines.
