France Should Allow Headscarves, Arabic in Schools: Report to PM

Paul Taylor, Reuters, December 13, 2013

France should reverse decades of strict secularism to integrate its immigrant population better, allowing Muslims to wear headscarves in schools and promoting Arabic teaching, according to an iconoclastic report commissioned by the prime minister.

The document, part of a government review of integration policy, sparked an outcry among conservative opposition politicians and unease among the governing Socialists.

It said France, with Europe’s largest Muslim population, should recognize the “Arab-oriental dimension” of its identity, for example by changing street and place names, rewriting its history curriculum and creating a special day to honor the contribution of immigrant cultures.

Although ethnic statistics are officially banned, an estimated 5 million Muslims, originating mostly from former African colonies such as Algeria and Morocco, live in France.

Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, who will chair a ministerial meeting next month on improving integration based partly on the report, told reporters there was no plan to drop the headscarf ban and distanced himself from the study.

“Just because I receive a report doesn’t make it government policy,” Ayrault said after the daily Le Figaro drew attention to the document, which was posted on the prime minister’s official website last month.

Among the proposals presented by senior civil servant Thierry Tuot and a group of experts was to forbid authorities and the media to refer to people’s nationality, religion or ethnicity, and the creation of a new offence of “racial harassment”.

They also recommended promoting the teaching of Arabic and African languages in French schools.

Far-right National Front leader Marine Le Pen said implementing the recommendations would be tantamount to “a declaration of war on the French people”.

I agree. So why not start fighting back ?

  • Puggg

I don’t get it. Then again, I’m a toy dog, so I don’t get a lot of things.

In the name of integration, they’re going to let Arabs and Muslims do separatist things.

I don’t suppose France for the French is an option, is it?

“In the name of integration, they’re going to let Arabs and Muslims do separatist things.”

Before you know it, they will be so diverse they will all be wearing uniforms.

  • Extropico

The French government is banned from identifying people by ethnicity, but the streets and language of the community must be changed by ethnicity. Something is amiss there, probably.

    • sbuffalonative

This is the same double-think they apply to all minorities. They tell us we’re all the same while at the same time telling us some people are different and we should recognize and celebrate these differences. How are we the same and different? Why are their differences to be recognized, encouraged, and celebrated but our differences are bigoted and myopic?

  • Magician

How is it “Integration into the French society” if the muslim immigrants keep on doing what they did back in their homelands? If the muslims continue living according to their own culture that means they are not integrating.

    It is contradicting itself.

    • Homo_Occidentalis

I’d rather they don’t integrate at all. It’ll be that much easier when the time finally comes to deport them from France. I just hope FN or someone else has the stones to carry it out.

    • sbuffalonative

Orwellian Double-Think, Cognitive Dissonance. These people think we’re stupid or they’re insane.

  • Pro_Whitey

    Anti-Catholicism and Anti-Christianity – a tradition since 1789. Anti-Islam? That’s racist!!
I think I understand the dynamics. The muslims gave Hollande his margin of victory, therefore the gubmint does what the muslims want. Whites will have to unite better against the socialists if they want to take away the incentive for the Socialists to give in to the islamists.

So basically France should cease being France and transform into something completely different and foreign. Gotcha.

Sorta like a special day for atheists?

Looks like the French have as few leaders with backbones as we do. My dream is to be President for a day. We’d have 11M fewer people here. The fence would be built on the border, backed up by our military who would be brought home to protect us rather than the Middle East. Those people are in constant conflict and will be long after we’re gone. Hey, I may stick around another day, I’m just beginning!

    • M.

“Looks like the French have as few leaders with backbones as we do.”

Actually, the French do have tough party leaders, like the National Front. It’s just that the ones governing now are leftist socialists, so that was to be expected from them.
A recent poll showed that 90% of France’s Muslims voted for the Socialists. Who would’ve thought!

  • JohnEngelman

If they don’t like it they can leave. No one forced them to move to France.

  • Brian

    Where is Charles Martel?

  • They’re invaders. Do not want to integrate. Just want to be themselves on somebody else’s dime.

A lot like hispanics in the USA.

  • bigone4u

Five million muzzies living in France makes no sense from an economic, cultural, religious, racial, or any other perspective. Banning mosques, headscarves, the Koran, and all other things muzzie would be a good start, followed by sending them all back to their countires.

  • 1stworlder

My favorite Muslim joke for leftists that shows their hypocrisy is:
Do you know why muslims stone gays to death and mutilate little girls genitals? One day Mohammad’s oldest wife(youngest was 6) hit puberty and he realized that the gays where right about his willy being smaller than what is now cut off little girls.

  • Whirlwinder

France is about to be subsumed under the hegemony of Islam. Unless the French autochthonic peoples rise up and get rid of their elite leadership, arm themselves and start pushing Islam out of their lands, they are dead. Then, the only history their children will know begins with Mohammed. Western civilization was a nice concept while it lasted. Notre Dame will be turned into a latrine. etc etc

    • rowingfool

I think that you’ve divined the future accurately. Look at the the temple Hagia Sophia in what was once the capitol of Christendom, now a Mosque.

In a perverse way it will be kind of enjoyable to watch the leaders of the West scramble for safety when they wake up one day to find themselves surrounded by a rabble of discontented people with whom they have no common history or genes and who are bent on overthrowing the existing order and instituting Islamic Rule. The white working class will not rally to protect the treasonous rulers who brought this disaster upon the Nation.

For a preview of the fate of contemporary Europe and the USA look to South Africa. Leaders will be butchered in their guarded enclaves while rural white folk will form armed communities centered around fortified towns reminiscent of those in medieval feudal society. The USA will split into at least 4 autonomous regions. Europe will become a Muslim continent. “Convert or die” will become the cry of the day.

      • Whirlwinder

Well put rowing. Our elite ” leadership” does not see this so somehow we need to impress this upon them.

    “Ethnic statistics are officially banned”

The “elites” don’t want the French to know how quickly they are being replaced, and how many rapes, murders, break-ins they are suffering at the hands of those replacing them.

    • M.

Even if they ban ethnic statistics, they still won’t be fooling anyone. The indigenous French know full well who’s doing what.

      Some French jokes:

      – Racheed and Mohammed are in a Renault Scénic 3. Who’s driving?
      – The cop.

      – Never smile when you see an Arab riding a bike. It might be yours.

  • The biggest mistake France ever made was to try to hang onto Algeria as a colony. Instead of the Al-Ge-Rie-Fran-Caise horn honking rallies of fifty years ago they should have held Al-Ge-RIe-Va-T’En rallies — Algeria Go Home.

    • M.

Well, as soon as it became a colony, it was over. Most Algerians speak French as a second language, therefore France is their first destination. Same for Tunisians and Moroccans. A decade or two less of colonialism wouldn’t have changed that.

The problem is a poor enforcement of immigration laws. Very few of the illegal north Africans in France have been sent back home. Most have been naturalized.

    • SFLBIB

The biggest mistake? Maybe; maybe second biggest.

… In the time of Munich, one could envisage that there would
be battles that might be won. There was at least the Maginot Line for defense. In Europe today, dominated by the spirit of dhimmitude – the condition of submission of Jews and Christians under Muslim domination – there is no conceivable battle. Submission, without a fight, has already taken place. A machinery that has made Europe the new continent of dhimmitude was put into motion more than 30 years ago at the instigation of France.

A wide-ranging policy was then first sketched out, a symbiosis of Europe with the Muslim Arab countries, that would endow Europe – and especially France, the project’s prime mover – with a weight and a prestige to rival that of the United States. This policy was undertaken quite discreetly, outside of official treaties, under the innocent-sounding name of the Euro-Arab Dialogue.

      • Would they have had the inclination to do these things if they had stayed out of North Africa to begin with?

        • SFLBIB

I have no doubt. Recall it says, “a symbiosis … that would endow Europe – and especially France, the project’s prime mover – with a weight and a prestige to rival that of the United States.”

Are you old enough to remember President de Gaul’s demanding we pay France in gold?

          • I don’t remember that. When was it? (I’m 70, by the way.)

          • SFLBIB

            In the late ’60s.

As an American who can only piece the situation together here and there through the mainstream media and sites like AmRen, I always thought things were worst in the UK… but as I learn more it appears like France will be the first Western European country to go majority non-white – and pretty soon too (say, within the next 50 years). Yes?

The French people had better wake up soon.

Just like us ViktorNN, in about 40 years.

Prospects for any peaceful resolution to these social, multicultural challenges throughout the West is getting less likely. As long as the only peaceful solution involves the cancelling out of votes between the productive, responsible suburban/country citizens and the parasitic, entitled black/brown city cockroaches the liberal side will win for the foreseeable future…Everywhere…. Western civilization is now ‘dead man walking’. Didn’t Don Meridith sing ‘cut out the lights, the party’s over’ at the end of MNF?

  • M.

General Charles De Gaulle, a few years before granting the Algerians independance:

“It is very good that there are yellow French, black French, brown French. They show that France is open to all races and has a universal vocation. But [it is good] on condition that they remain a small minority. Otherwise, France would no longer be France. We are still primarily a European people of the white race, Greek and Latin culture, and the Christian religion.

Let’s not fool ourselves! Muslims, have you seen them? Have you watched them with their turbans and jellabiyas? You can see that they are not French! Those who advocate integration have the brain of a hummingbird, however knowledgeable they may be. Try to mix oil and vinegar. Shake the bottle. After a second, they will separate again.

Arabs are Arabs; the French are French. Do you think the French body politic can absorb ten million Muslims, who tomorrow will be twenty million, after tomorrow forty? If we integrated, if all the Arabs and Berbers of Algeria were considered French, would you prevent them to settle in France, where the standard of living is so much higher? My village would no longer be called Colombey-The-Two-Churches but Colombey-The-Two-Mosques.”

  • M.

Not even 50 years! It wasn’t that bad in the 90’s. Or so I hear the French elders say.

When France granted independance to its North African colonies, it didn’t even have to restrict access to France with a visa system. Most North Africans, full of hope, wanted to stay in their newly independent countries. The number of immigrants from the former colonies was small. But then, little by little, there was a demographic explosion in these countries, poverty and mismanagement ensued, and the youth started to leave in their thousands. France established the visa system in the 90’s, but it was already too late. More than a million Muslims were already French residents, and could drag their family into the country as per family reunification laws. Add to that the fact that most illegals end up being naturalized, mostly under pressure of the anti-racist organization, and you get yourself a white country full of racial and cultural aliens.
