Racism Card Looking a Little Dog-Eared

Ann Coulter, August 14, 2013

Do liberals have any arguments for their idiotic ideas besides calling their opponents “racist”?

The two big public policies under attack by the left this week are “stop-and-frisk” policing and voter ID laws. Democrats denounce both policies as racist. I’m beginning to suspect they’re getting lazy in their arguments.

Stop-and-frisk was a crucial part of the package of law enforcement measures implemented by New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani that saved the city. Under David Dinkins, who preceded Giuliani, murders averaged about 2,000 a year. There were 714 murders in New York the year Giuliani left office. Continuing Giuliani’s policing techniques, Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s New York had only 419 murders last year.

Just during his first year in office, Giuliani’s policies cut the murder rate an astonishing 20 percent. That first year of his administration was responsible for 35 percent of the crime drop nationwide from 1993 to 1995. The New York Times hailed this remarkable achievement with an article headlined, “New York City Crime Falls but Just Why Is a Mystery.”

It was mostly black lives that were saved by Giuliani’s crime policies. By the end of his administration, the Rev. Calvin Butts, liberal pastor of Harlem’s Abyssinian Baptist Church, was comparing Giuliani to King Josiah of the Bible, who “brought order, peace, the law back to the land.” The black minister told The New York Times, “I really think that without Giuliani, we would have been overrun.”

About the same time as the Rev. Butts was comparing Giuliani to King Josiah, Richard Goldstein of The Village Voice claimed he felt less safe in New York under Giuliani. It was the ravings of a madman, like saying winter is warmer than summer. But now, Goldstein’s ideas are being delivered from the federal bench by Judge Shira Scheindlin, who recently held New York City’s stop-and-frisk policies unconstitutional.

Yes, Democrat Bob Filner can pat down his female employees, but cops can’t pat down suspected criminals.

Liberals wail about guns, but how do they imagine police get guns off the street without going to high-crime neighborhoods and stopping young men acting suspiciously? Giuliani’s policing policies, including stop-and-frisk, reduced gun homicides in New York by 75 percent within five years.

It is precisely the fear of being caught with a gun that induces young hoodlums not to carry them. The word gets out: Don’t carry a gun! It’s not worth the risk.

Of course cops don’t find many guns anymore! That’s because they’re doing stop-and-frisk.

By liberals’ logic, the government should stop doing meat inspections because it turns up so few cases of contamination these days, anyway. We can also drop the metal detectors at airports. How many people does the TSA actually catch trying to sneak guns onto airplanes?

Have liberals polled the elderly black residents of high-crime neighborhoods on stop-and-frisk? As soon as the word gets out that it’s now safe to carry weapons, spray paint, drugs and stolen goods again, criminals will rule the streets and the elderly will, once more, be confined to their homes. As Martin Luther King said, crime is “the nightmare of the slum family.”

But liberals don’t care about the innocent black victims of crime. They don’t care about citizens being prisoners in their own homes–as long as it’s not in their neighborhoods. The important thing is to self-righteously preen about racism.

When a policy that has saved thousands of black lives is attacked as “racist,” the word has no meaning. {snip}

About the same time as the Rev. Butts was comparing Giuliani to King Josiah, Richard Goldstein of The Village Voice claimed he felt less safe in New York under Giuliani. It was the ravings of a madman, like saying winter is warmer than summer.

It was the ravings of an ideological lunatic.

Sure, they’re fudging with the statistics, but I’m sure they’ve always done that. The trend is undeniable, and stop-and-frisk is a big part of the reason.

“I can never encounter a white southerner without feeling a murderousness pass between us. As though, whatever his personal instincts, his ethnic history predisposes him to regard castration and rape as his prerogatives.”

      -Richard Goldstein (1973)

      • Puggg

I bet “Richard Goldstein” has been a multiple time victim of black crime in his life.

        • There’s a very old saying about that: “He who bites the hand that feeds him will lick the boot that kicks him.”

      • BonusGift

In my dealings with them I have observed that as a general rule the tribe has a pathological hatred of white Christian southerners (i.e., they want them all dead yesterday); and it is clearly a form of psychological projection when they make such comments as you have quoted (i.e., their owns thoughts are ascribed to the object of their hate in this case).

  • AngloCelt

Stop-and-frisk was halted because targeting blacks was, in practice, helping to reduce crime in the city, and the Cultural Marxist elite didn’t want action to reinforce what statistics already demonstrate.

    • Erasmus

Most blacks aren’t rapists, muggers or violent assailants, but most rapists, muggers and violent criminals are black.. The raw numbers prove it. There’s no need to even norm them for blacks’ being a minority of the population.

If you’re ever mugged, raped or assaulted by an unknown assailant, he probably looks just like Barack Obama.

      • IstvanIN

        or Reggie Love.

      • Spartacus

“Most blacks aren’t rapists, muggers or violent assailants…”

One in three South African blacks admit to be rapists. Considering how many of them probably weren’t willing to admit, not even with guarantees that their names will not be mentioned, I’d be willing to bet it’s actually most of them :

As a percentage of the population of those stopped and frisked, one could make an argument that Whites were being unfairly stopped – based on Whites’ very low percentage of criminality.

      • Irishgirl

Yes, one could make that argument, but it will cost one his job.

When a policy that has saved thousands of black lives is attacked as “racist,” the word has no meaning.

    – Ann Coulter, August 14, 2013

The word stopped meaning anything useful when it was used to suppress a scientific study into the nature, extent, and reasons for racial differences.

  • bigone4u

Stop and frisk, Paula Deen, Ann Coulter, Amren, voter ID–the list is endless–are all racist according to liberals. Racism is to be the worst thing in the world, they say. Yet liberals live in their gated enclaves away from tdiversity, crime, corruption, noise, filth, rudeness, the anti-white chip on the shoulder Trayvons, and much more. Self-loathing, holier-than-thou liberals are the parasite destroying us, not common sense labeled as racism because these cretins need to feel better about themselves.

  • NeanderthalDNA

If lack of empathy or empathy’s child, altruism, is considered a psychological pathology, sociopathy, why then is an overabundance of such, as evinced by so many liblefties, not?

I guess sociopathy threatens others while libleftiapathy is more masochistic.

Naw, having taught in our schools I gotta say, libleftipathy hurts us all, our kids the most. And there is naught more sadistic than the vile messianic murder fantasies the “good guys” nurse in their heads for any who too effectively oppose.

  • Conrad

“It was mostly black lives that were saved by Giuliani’s crime policies.”
    I side with the Dems.

  • If a policy that prevents armed psychopaths from killing folks is “racist”, I wonder if judge Scheindlin would care to comment as to what that implies about the racial background of armed psychopaths.

    Goldstein… That’s a Cambodian name, right ?

    • Luca

Yes, and those Cambodians are disproportionately liberal and clearly have an overwhelming influence in Hollywood, MSM, the judicial system, academia and banking.

      • IstvanIN

The Cambodians also defend their Canadian pets, regardless of how bad behaved they are. Remember, the Cambodians founded a certain civil rights organization for the Canadians.

        • Spartacus

The National Association for the Advancement of Canadian People (NAACP), yeah, now I remember . And then there were a few Cambodian women that started a women’s “liberation” movement…

  • Spartacus

I’m quite happy that this is happening. New York is the main capital of jewish supremacy worldwide, and it’s turning into Detroit would be a great – albeit symbolic – victory for us .

  • JDInSanDiego

Reducing their murder rate is meaningless if we still have to deal with all their other negatives while being required to pay to breed and feed them.

  • sarah stein

New York ended stop and frisk because they now have long range concealed weapons scanners.

    • I don’t know about that. Given a few months, I could probably make a knife out of plastic that would shear through Kevlar and human tissue. The plastic sheath would look like a small notebook, and might even have a pen and a pad of paper. Release for the knife could be underneath the paper pad.

      Scan that.

      • Bleakvision

A knife is not a long range weapon. It is much harder to kill someone with a knife. Mentally and physically.

    • BarnyL

I didn’t know “long range concealed weapons scanners” existed. That would explain why so many blacks are stopped and frisked.

Not much point in stopping me.

  • RHG

I think leftwingers and race baiters like all this murder and mayhem perpetrated at the hands of black thugs, I think they want white people to feel afraid and under siege.

  • rebelcelt

I must be with the liberals on this one. I do not believe the police should have the right to search someone just because.

    • It’s not “just because.” The name of the program is actually “Stop Question Frisk.” Cop accosts person, asks him questions, and how he answers the questions will determine whether he frisks him. Not every questioning turns into a frisk under SQF. This makes SQF a perfectly constitutional Terry v Ohio stop.

Then there’s the other consideration: The Bill of Rights should not be a suicide pact. No SQF means black crime shoots way sky high. In which case, all our “rights” won’t matter anymore. It’s like I say sometimes, we now have so many rights that we’re no longer free.

      • Evette Coutier

The irony for the uneducated black is that they have the legal right to not consent to a search then remain quiet. All they have to do to avoid being searched is to invoke their right to remain silent. Then there is no reasonable suspicion or cause for a search. But inasmuch as they failed to attend civics class in school, the don’t know their rights. Real power is knowledge, it is not being an ignorant bully.

        • Irishgirl

They also seem to have an awfully hard time remaining silent.

      • Terra Magnum Imperium

Disagree with you this one QD, just because my answers are not to the Cops liking gives them no reason to search me. I know White and some Asian cultures do much better in free societies but you can’t have separate rules for each race despite what all the surveys my tell us. Also I looked the Terry vs. Ohio case and a Plain clothed officer followed the 2 men so them repeatedly pass by the same store and then meet a 3rd soon after. A Cop cannot search you on a Hunch.

    • IstvanIN

Actually stop and frisk makes me uncomfortable, unfortunately it is needed in a multicultural society.

      • BonusGift

I agree; and isn’t that a sad commentary on where we are today? That is, our rights are reduced because of the existence of blacks among us and the lack of honesty in dealing with them.

        • IanJMacDonald

You are correct, it IS a sad commentary. When we establish Whitelandia, I hope that it will be a country where everyone is allowed to mind his own business.

        • HJ11

Right. We need to separate from Blacks. Black violence was always a huge issue, but during segregation it was largely contained within the Black communities. Now, with the nutso beliefs of the 68ers, Black crime is being imported to formerly all White and all safe communities.

    • HJ11

I have a problem with the police stopping and frisking Whites. There’s usually no need to do that. On the other hand, I have no problem with them stopping and frisking Blacks. There’s often plenty of need to do that.

Yes, I have particularist beliefs. This means I don’t lump all races into one basket, and I realize that different races are different.

      • BonusGift

It all seems to be so circular. Yes, it makes sense to frisk them if they exist among us and not YT; and if they are not among us no problem in the first place. It all begins and ends with false choices (e.g., frisk and punish YT or punish YT and don’t frisk) and falsifiable beliefs (e.g., we are all the same). In the end the real choice is that they must be isolated from all civilized peoples (European and Asian) or to the extent they do not respect our lives, rights, and property they need to be exterminated.

        • HJ11

I say that we Whites should isolate ourselves from all non-Whites including Asians. They are not our kind and in my belief system we Whites should be working to evolve into a new species incapable of bearing children with all non-Whites. This requires isolation and differing environmental pressures.

          • BonusGift

Agreed; I just had one of my more universalist moments, unlikely to happen again.

    • MBlanc46

Certainly anyone with a real concern for individual liberty shares your feelings. Our problem is that we have two (or maybe three) distinct populations in the US who have very different standards of behavior. It’s practically impossible to apply a single legal principle to both groups.

  • Spartacus

I’d just like to say that, as an actual racist, I feel very insulted by how the word is so casually thrown around like this. It’s like these people have no respect for my identity…

    • IanJMacDonald

I sometimes think that i might be a “racist,” but then I realize that I don’t really understand its meaning. I understand the meaning “racial prejudice.” Likewise “racial animosity,” “racial preference,” “racial consciousness,” “racial solidarity,” and “racial hatred.”

The left love to take a word, attach -ism to the end, and then hurl it at their ideological opponents.

As far as I can tell from the people who majored in victim studies in college, every white person is a “racist,” and no non-white can be racist. Therefore, whenever I hear one of them say “look at all those racists” what they really mean is “look at all those white people.”

      • ViktorNN

Excellent point – it doesn’t pay to worry much over whether or not you’re a “racist.” The fact is, if you’re white then you’re a racist, according to our enemies.

The next step is to realize and point out the truth which isn’t getting told, which is that they hate white people.

Experience has taught me that anyone who gets in your face for sticking up for white people is 9 times out of 10 a person who hates white people. And if they’re white, then 100% of the time they’re an idiot.

      • Spartacus

No idea what other think it means, I just hate dark-skins .

        • HJ11

I define “racist” as one who understands the scientific reality that there are races of humans, just as there are breeds of dogs and varieties of roses.

An “anti-racist” is an ignorant person who might as well believe that the earth is flat. And, on top of that, an anti-racist is an anti-White bigot.

          • MBlanc46

I prefer the expression “race realism” for the view you state. I think that any attempt to put a positive spin on “racist” is doomed to failure.

          • HJ11

I understand. However, I’m evolving back toward the term “racism” as the name for a scientifically valid belief system. Admittedly, I may be in the minority in this.

I see a parallel in the term Zionism. Many say that is simply another word for racism–in this case, Jewish racism–however, many Zionists refuse to give up the term. Even Geraldo Rivera says on TV that he is a Zionist.

If we let those who are not our kind dictate what we may call ourselves or how we should think and act, then we probably shouldn’t even be struggling to remain as the distinct people we are.

          • I think as practiced Zionism is racism, or at least ethnic chauvinism. The Zionist goal is an ethnically homogeneous ethnostate within Israel’s ancient boundaries. The distinct problem with that is very large numbers of Arab Muslims live within those borders, with a birthrate that looks like the 1990s stock market. The only long-term answers are either genocide of the Palestinian Arabs or mass expulsions of them. These would have to be described as fundamentally racist. The current vaguely Apartheid-esque system is not a long-term solution. A third option of a smaller, less Arab Israel would please only the secular Jews there. Jewish hard-liners want to keep Judea and Samaria (a.k.a. the West Bank), while the Palestinians want everything, all the way to the coast.

In totalitarian countries writers must employ certain conventions and evasions in order to sneak their real meaning past the gatekeepers.

  • MBlanc46

The epidemic of black crime and the persistent educational “achievement gap”–both much in the news lately–are casting grave doubt on the integrationist narrative. All that the proponents of that narrative have to counterattack with are claims of racism and white privilege. We need to keep hammering away with fact to counter their hollow rhetoric.

  • Explain the physics as to how that would work. I’ll wait. In the meantime, spectacularly strong, hard plastics are nothing new.

  • [Guest]

The problem is not guns, and it’s not even crime, law-enforcement policy, or the judicial system. It’s also not joblessness, dropping out of school, becoming involved with drugs or gangs, out-of-wedlock births, government dependency, racism, or general inability to function in advanced civilization. Those are all symptoms. The problem is blacks.

    >>>It is precisely the fear of being caught with a gun that induces young hoodlums not to carry them.

For “young hoodlums,” substitute “law-abiding, Constitution-honoring, tax-paying, middle-class, white American citizens,” who must fear the government when carrying guns to protect themselves from the savages. Instead of dealing with that savage segment of the population, we’re sacrificing our liberties in hopes of defending ourselves against it. That will not work.

  • Terra Magnum Imperium

Just like with DUI check points I am on the fence on this Issue (S&F) just because certain law enforcement tactics work doesn’t mean we should use them. How do you define acting suspiciously anyway? Need to do some research on this I guess.

    • David Ashton

      Walking while black?

  • HJ11

    But 100 per cent Zionist.

  • Terra Magnum Imperium

The militarization of the police is mostly because of the War On Some Drugs. Back in the 1980’s during the crack epidemic the Police lacked manpower, training and weapons to deal with increasingly well arm mostly minority drug gangs, so instead of illegalizing drugs our government militarized the Police. So why do people act surprised when the cops now routinely violate human rights with no knock raids, check points, stop and frisk, night sticks up butt..etc.

  • Jack Burton

Anti-racism increases murder rates, or racism decreases murder rates, there’s your headline.

  • SFLBIB

“They don’t care about citizens being prisoners in their own homes–as long as it’s not in their neighborhoods.”

You can bet that the judge doesn’t live in one of those neighborhoods. That’s why I think that anyone who wants to be a lawyer and/or a judge should be required to spend five years as a cop on the beat, preferably in one of those neighborhoods.
