Brad Paisley has released a new song and it is a controversial one, to say the least.

Called “Accidental Racist,” the song has Paisley wearing a shirt adorned with the Confederate flag and claiming that he is “caught between Southern pride and Southern blame.”

“I’m just a white man comin’ to you from the Southland / Tryin’ to understand what it’s like not to be / I’m proud of where I’m from but not everything we’ve done / And it ain’t like you and me can rewrite history,” Paisley sings. “Our generation didn’t start this nation / We’re still pickin’ up the pieces, walkin’ on eggshells, fightin’ over yesterday.”

“Accidental Racist,” which features a verse from LL Cool J, goes on to address Reconstruction and attempts to relate as Paisley croons, “I try to put myself in your shoes and that’s a good place to begin / But it ain’t like I can walk a mile in someone else’s skin.”

LL Cool J joins the song to rap, “Dear Mr. White Man, I wish you understood / What the world is really like when you’re livin’ in the hood / Just because my pants are saggin’ doesn’t mean I’m up to no good / You should try to get to know me, I really wish you would / Now my chains are gold but I’m still misunderstood.”

This is so sad. Embarrassing. Is Brad not getting invited to the right parties in Hollywood? Is he dating some hi-yalla gal that he is trying to impress? I mean, to go on the Ellen Degeneres Show for heavens sake! Does her audience buy his albums?

    • Country music labels and mainstream music labels are owned by the same media conglomerates. Time was, many country artists could “get away” with doing things like openly supporting George Wallace’s political ambitions. But I guess the top floors of media conglomerates noticed that too much “funny business” was going on underneath their noses, and started cracking the whip.

Now, a modern “country” song sounds less country than some pop records of a generation ago that weren’t considered country songs then but now get play on classic country formatted stations.

      • RisingReich

Country songs like “We all bleed red” and then there’s a female signer who sings one along the likes of ‘All American’ – and the video cuts to a picture of a small black girl.

        Sad.

        • Svigor

I love “we all bleed red.” It’s a great set up. Worms bleed red. Mosquitoes bleed red.

      • Morris LeChat

poor brad, once one has had the black mambo in hones mouth, one is forever unfashionable, out of favor, unsellable. The only question now is should we call him Brad Spitz or Brad Swallow, probably we should call him Brad Sitzonit.

      • Brad Paisley is about as Southern as I am. He is from 15 miles south of where I grew up, due east of Columbus, in the middle of the middle finger of West Virginia.

The thing I don’t understand is “How could this help one’s country music career?”, unless he is shooting for a spot on “American Idol” or “The Voice” like that other former country singer.

    • Katherine McChesney

Oprah will probably invite the two of them on her show.

“I’d try to put myself in your shoes, but your kin would shiv me / for a pair of air jordans or a shirt from abercrombie/ having something they want, something they envy/even just having a bag of chips would put one’s life in jeopardy/ Time has proven that one thing is true, dark skin color mean NO character within/ just the nature of a jungle beast

Makes me cringe. What has “country” music become for this to happen? Brad Paisley cuts a song with LL Fool J?

The “Country” music industry is now run by the usual suspects out in Hollyweird. Real Country music is now called Americana.

      • So CAL Snowman

Yup, country music is being infiltrated by the blacks now. They promote that moron that was the front man from “Hootie and the Blowfish.”

Great tune! Love the classics. Country music is a great barometer for where our country is now compared to the 70s. We went from racially aware, masculine, ass kickin, hell raisers like David A. Coe, Hank Jr., Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Merle Haggard and Johnny Paycheck to pussies like Paisley and Chesney. I’ve been present when someone was listening to the local country station here in Philly and I actually heard what sounded like a rap song, ‘sung’ with a twang. I almost smashed the radio. The old time legends must be sick over the shyte that comes out of Nashville today.

Couldn’t agree more. I have been in a lot of careers but enjoyed my time as an owner-operator and although hard rock has always been my favorite, I love this tune but only by Dave Dudley! It was sure made for gear jammers!

          • john boggs

Been a metal head myself since I was 12. Saw Billy Squire at the Frank Irwin Center in Austin, 1982… been hooked ever since. Like metal, old country has balls, so it’s not as unnatural a progression as one might think. Brad Pansey is to country as Poison was to metal. Any grown man who would listen to either is mentally defective.

          • Popeye Doyle

Men with balls walked the earth in those days. Johnny Cash was great too!

          • john boggs

Popeye, I was going to say the same thing, but then I thought about it. There are men with balls. I know many. There are many just on this thread. The difference is that you will never see white men portrayed in a movie the way Burt Reynolds was in the seventies…funny, virile, tough, confident. So it gives the impression that there are no men with balls. That’s exactly what Hymie wants us to think so we’ll lose hope. Stay positive. There is no doubt in my mind that we are going to see our way out of this.

        • Old Timer

In 1957 I saw Dave Dudley perform this great song at the Marigold Ballroom on Nicolet Ave in Minneapolis. Loved it then and still do!

      • Katherine McChesney

True. Country Music was hijacked in the 70’s. BMI then president bridged the gap between pop and country. She became powerful. Country Music today isn’t legitimate.

        • StillModerated

Country music with drums is illegitimate. I’ve made the switch to bluegrass.

“Dear Mr. White Man, I wish you understood / What the world is really like when you’re livin’ in the hood”

Dear LL Cool J, my grandmother was born in East New York, Brooklyn in an Italian ghetto. My father was born in Flushing, Queens and my mother was also born in Brooklyn. The one difference is the old Italians in “the hood” did not commit crime and act like a doofus with pants sagging and du rags. Yes, that’s right LL…my people lived in the hood. They just didn’t act like you and your “bruddaz”.

    • Nat Turner

      Care to explain the mafia?

      • APaige

The mafia was/is a criminal organization started in Italy and brought to the U.S. They control various criminal activities, etc. BUT other Italians did not mimic their behavior and actually protected their ‘hoods’. Not many Italians kids shot going to school. Many Italians grew up poor, but worked hard, bought homes, raised their families, etc. Black hoods? Well…exception meet the rule.

        • Gerónimo Anónimo

Actually it started in Sicily. The island didn’t even become part of Italy until Garibaldi. Naples had a similar organized crime society called La Camorra. There are several theories as to the origin of the word Mafia. Some say that it’s an acronym.

          • LastBastionOfHope

The Mafia is just another term for “La Costra Nostra” meaning “This thing of ours” in Italian. Notice it says this thing of OURS. All the things they did took place WITHIN the 5 NY families. The mafia even had their own ethics…you never harm the elderly or women outside of “the life” and you can’t whack a “made man”. In other words you can’t kill bosses. You have to go get permission from the other families first. The mafia is extremely organized and calculated. Think about it…you never see them. They want to avoid the spotlight. Black thugs on the other hand are extremely unorganized and just commit crime for the sake of it. They have no rules, no ethics, and it’s just wild zoo behavior.

          • rsb1311

This is an insane conversation. How in the hell does one justify crime. Black crime, Italian crime – there is no glory to crime.
One is no better than the other regardless of its sophistication. To justify human wrong doing thus lies the problem.

          • Nat Turner

True but that’s something you people do very well. Hubris describes the “too bob” race to the tee. Any crimes committed by minorities pale against what the “grafted snake,” WWI, WWII, have unleashed on the world. And before someone brings up the nips; didn’t Corporal Shicklegruber designate them honorary white folk?

          • PesachPatriot

Big difference between violence on the battlefield during war and sickening crimes like baby murder in a country with laws and rules and civilization. Have you seen what the religion of peace gets up to in its own countries?Mao killed a whole bunch of chinese in his country too. What about the horrors committed by proud black leaders like idi amin, robert mugabe or papa doc duvalier? If white countries are such awful evil “raaaycisss” places why are millions of africans trying to move in to them?…White people put on itchy blue uniforms and fought and died so you could be free to flap your ungrateful bootlips all over the internet. If someone hadn’t purchased one of your ancestors you’d be dying of aids in africa instead of enjoying EBT cards and putting stupid rims on your hooptie.

          • BernieGoetzFan

That was war and it was largely white against whites. Everyday rape, robbery and murder in a non wartime situation is what your people do. Besides, given that they lack any modern weaponry (cause you can’t develop it) Africans have been incredibly savage in wars against each other.

          • LastBastionOfHope

Who is justifying crime? I’m explaining the difference between organized crime in a rich culture vs. hoodrat crime in a ghetto culture.

          • TheAntidote

I read the word was derived from Arabic. Means “the hiding place.”

      • 1RW

I should think that the difference between a highly organized shadow state with a formal hierarchy that provided social services to the community and primitive tribal groupings of feral youths should be obvious

        • Nat Turner

You people are good at tap dancing…

          • BernieGoetzFan

You people are good at robbery, rape and murder.

          • gemjunior

Ross Perot said that, “you people” and all the blacks screamed “What Do You Mean You White Waycissss!” but I guess you can say it to Us People, because yes we are good at tap dancing, and that’s not all….. We’re good at abiding by the law, graduating from schools, getting jobs and keeping them, paying our bills, paying our mortgage and community dues, and soooooo much else. It’s a white thing; you wouldn’t understand.

          • josh

And we’re good at being walked on by the elites. Theyre very pleased with us! We’re goot boys!!!

          • Bill

I thought that was YOUR people’s forte? Wasn’t it? At least then it was clean entertainment and income for you people. NOW it’s only about sucker punching old white guys, raping white women at every opportunity, killing each other over sneakers, drug territory, or just because you all got together at some funeral, rap joint, pride weekend, etc. You are as a race nothing but thuggish juveniles with grown up bodies and worthless. You want to make a difference in the world don’t come HERE and lecture us. Go back to your hood and lecture your bruddahs about THEIR behavior and lack of respect even for each other. And tell them to get friggin jobs instead of squatting on their porches, eh?

          • Nat Turner

We are also good at taking YOUR women, punking out YOUR men, and squashing YOUR speech. Why? Turnabout is fair play and just plain ole racial hatred. Enjoy YOUR freedom here on the net; that’s next…

          • PesachPatriot

Very tough words behind a keyboard, I’m sure you’re familiar with the phrase “talk is cheap”….go up to the first white guy in a Slayer shirt out in the real world, talk some trash and see how well things go for you. Trayvon, Kimani and Jordan Davis thought they were pretty tough too until they messed with the wrong people. If you kill whitey who will maintain civilization…you know things like running water, EBT cards, Section 8 housing, flush toilets, electricity, fully stocked grocery stores, malls, trains, etc….when whitey is gone mexicans, chinese and moslems won’t be nearly as forgiving and tolerant of the bruthas non-stop shenanigans as whitey has been. Its not just ebil YT thats fed up with afro-shines….most non-blacks in this country have had more than enough….if you want to rob, rape, kill and play loud music at 2am move to zimbabwe or haiti where no one will stop you. I’m sure you must be so proud of brave zulu warriors like DuMarquise Elkins who shoot unarmed babies at point blank range.

          • Morris LeChat

yes, the negro fatigue is growing everyday, and spreading through the world. WE are approaching the point where actions will be taken. The tipping point will bring a change so swift and so brutal, that most blacks wont know what happened.

          • PesachPatriot

White/anglo americans might be humane and allow the aspiring rappers to board boats back for africa and take whatever posessions they have legally acquired with them once they surrender….I doubt they will get such generosity from los hermanos mexicanos y cubanos if civilization collapses completely. The zimmerman incident and shooting antonio santiago at point blank range definitely have not endeared the pinche mayates to the hispanic community.

          • Scarlett OHara

Yeah, we Whites at AMREN already know that. We know what you negroes think of whitey. It’s the white liberals who are ignorant about blacks. You ought to tell the dumb white liberals what you REALLY think of them. Tell them that you negroes have no interest in their “brotherhood of man” nonsense, that you are seething with envy for their whiteness, and burning for revenge against them. Tell ’em the troof. I wonder what Chris Matthews would think if you told him to his face that he is a weak, pale, pasty-faced race-traitoring faggot, and that you want to rape his grandmother to “get even”? Give that fool a tingle down his leg.

          • BernieGoetzFan

Yeah, when its ten to one or you are targeting old men or women. But you remember what just a handful of whites could do to your people when you raped, robbed and murdered. Hispanics are starting to do that now. Good for them.

          • josh

Tap dancing comes from Irish step dancing. I once saw a black actor/dancer(the guy who played with Billy Crystal in the cop movie…??)on tv and someone asked about the origins of tap. When he heard that it came from the Irish –lets face it,the BEST of dancers,Gene KELLY??Donald O’Connor??helloooo—he was quite perturbed and stammered,”They dont know that for sure…”

          • Morris LeChat

oh no! dey done gawn an tooks tap dancin aways from da blackmans too!

          • Morris LeChat

they are not really human, their brains are indeed different, smaller, with frontal lobes that are a mere vestige of the frontal lobes that whites have. No native african language has words for abstract concepts, such as time, or words to express degrees. Since they have no concept of time, which is an abstraction, when they do not have contacts with whites, they only use one form of the verb “to be”. They do not use past tense, they do not use future tense, they do not understand the concepts. They are not like us humans.

          • Hey Nat, I really liked the biography that William Styron wrote about you. Wasn’t you angrimated that he revealed you to be on the downlow and all?

      • c684570

Within two generations, Italian difficulties with integration sorted themselves out. As for the mafia, Italians did it with some class. It’s one thing killing a person or 10 to protect a multi-million dollar empire, it’s quite another thing to shoot up a bar over a Walkman and twenty bucks.

        • IstvanIN

Or sneakers, don’t forget the sneakers!

Eating at 5 star steak houses, $5,000 dollar Gucci suits, $2,000 dollar shoes, Cadillacs, Cohiba cigars, top shelf liquor, and acting like gentlemen to old women in the neighborhood vs. eating a bucket of KFC, pants sagging showing your boxers, du rags, wife beaters, malt liquor bottles, and raping/murdering/stabbing/robbing random people no matter if they are old, or female. BIG, BIG difference. Go watch “A Bronx Tale” and you tell me that wasn’t a safe neighborhood. The mafia actually protected their neighborhoods from the hip hop gangsta black thugs you see today. When’s the last time you heard the mafia loot a store? LOL

          • george00

“A Bronx Tale” was an excellent movie until toward the end when it became a propaganda film to promote interracial mating.

        • LastBastionOfHope

Another quick story about John Gotti…a kid saw him walking down the block and said that he liked his suit. John Gotti smiled, pat the kid on the head, and gave him Yankees tickets and $300 cash. Believe it or not these were family men. If you know Italian culture especially the old school traditional kind, family and respect is everything. Those 2 things mean nothing in the black community.

      • gemjunior

The Mafia didn’t prey on negroes. On the contrary, they extorted money from Italian businesses in exchange for “protection” of the premises. Similarly, the Chinese mafia is usually active in the Chinese community. I know the area he’s talking about. It was turning bad in the ’70s, thanks to a certain type of people moving in and wrecking everthing. Blacks don’t just prey on blacks, they prey on any living organism that is breathing, but they especially enjoy viciously violating whites our of a misplaced victim mindset as well as envy that they cannot create or even maintain an already created civilization for example Zimbabwe and South Africa. Take a look at those places. Have a look at Haity, twice put on it’s feet by whites.

        • LastBastionOfHope

The places the Italian mafia resided at i.e. Long Island, Staten Island, Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, North Jersey, Westchester, etc. were all low crime areas because it was mostly whites living there during those times. In Gotti’s old neighborhood Howard Beach, they routinely run out black thugs who try to take over their turf. It’s one of the last places whites have balls.

          • Svigor

One would think, what with the divide between Nordicists and White Nationalists, Italian WNs would have the sense not to defend the Mafia.

Gives us Nordicists another legitimate reason to reject you WNs.

          • LastBastionOfHope

I’m not defending them. I’m showing the difference between so called black “gangstaz” and old school Italian “gangsters”. By the way most of those Italian “gangsters” agree 100% with the kind of stuff posted on this site, so why would you want to alienate a part of the white race? Makes no sense.

          • Morris LeChat

what the hell is a “nordicist” and why do they have an antipathy to white nationalists?

      • Bill

Care to explain black mafia? Care to explain the current black gangs? In every hood? Here, let me help you out with the DIFFERENCES between whites and blacks. The mafia was an organized, relatively intelligently run, discrete, discriminatory in punishment, organization which often gave back to the neighborhood, and most definitely protected Italian neighborhoods from eggplants like you. Now, blacks, even in the day of the actual black mafia, usually victimized their own neighborhoods, engaged in violence often and often in a mis-directed way due to low intelligence, no self control, and innate savage nature, was disorganized and impulsive, and get caught frequently because they are just plain STUPID. In short, the mafia never destroyed its own neighborhood. Blacks destroy EVERY neighborhood the are found. The mafia was composed of whites. Therefore better organized and run by more intelligent people. Black gangs reflect black mentality and impulse control. Got it now?

        • LastBastionOfHope

The funny part is that young black thugs look up to Italians and the mob culture because it was well-known for respect, prestige, and class. They want that image so bad but they are just a bunch of stupid thugs. Some rappers name themselves “Yo Gotti” “Young Capone” “Gravano” “Castellano”, etc. and all they talk about is Gucci, Versace, Cadillacs, etc. If John Gotti was alive today he would put them in a brick oven used for baking pizzas in Brooklyn somewhere.

          • PesachPatriot

From my understanding of history the rome of 2,000 years ago was more advanced than modern day africa…blacks always want to claim something else like being italians, “israelites”, amerindians, samurai, vikings….I’d rather live in the house between Al Capone and John Gotti with Lucky Luciano and Carlo Gambino on the other side of the street than in any majority black neighborhood anywhere on the planet….whats the excuse for constant black crime in canada and europe where there was never slavery?

          • Svigor

So was medieval England. There was a study published not too long ago that showed people in medieval England were wealthier and better-fed than modern sub-Saharan Africans.

          • PesachPatriot

I guess that makes sense…medieval england had some pretty impressive stone cathedrals and castles that still stand today, agriculture, trade, candle making, brewing and distilling, metal working, literature( I have always liked Beowulf and the Canterbury tales), art and some sort of court system….

          • josh

One black thug gang was called the “Arrow” Flynns. (roll eyes)

          • Morris LeChat

Let’s not forget the “fearsome” names that the black gangs of liberia use. Names such as “mosquitos’ and the even more fearsome for the mosquitos the “mosquito spray”.,

      • LastBastionOfHope

The percentage of Italians that are involved with the mafia are around the same percentage of black intellectuals. In other words, extremely low. And you totally miss this main distinction: the Italian mob wears suits, has honor, would never jump some old woman or man for their money, and 99% of the time they stay within their own. It’s not random stabbings and shootings like the black community. John Gotti lived in Queens and threw block parties for his neighborhood in Howard Beach. They loved him. As long as you didn’t get in their way you had nothing to worry about. Black inner-cities on the other hand, you could be a baby in a stroller and get murdered. The mafia would murder any idiot who did that kind of stuff.

    • anonymous_amren

You’re right. Italians committed crime without acting like a doofus. And not as much crime. Italians have some things to apologize for, but they are orders of magnitude better than the Africans.

      • LastBastionOfHope

White collar crime like the Italian mafia committed and hood rat crime like blacks commit are totally different.

      • freddy_hills

        Was that really necessary???

I have nothing to apologize for. My people are the creators of the Roman Empire. Part of the white race. DaVinci, Michelangelo, etc…some of the greatest of all time.

Pizza, cappicola, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella and discovering the new world is pretty impressive too. Dante’s Inferno is also a pretty interesting work of literature and every rapper that makes big money always goes out and gets themselves a very expensive italian sports car like a ferrari, porsche or maserati.

          • LastBastionOfHope

And they name themselves after Italians too i.e. Gotti, Capone, Maserati, Bugatti, etc.

I guess it’s a good thing that there have never been dirt poor White people, and it is a great privilege that we all get our bills paid for us and college educations for free. We don’t even have to work to make our neighborhoods clean and safe, because the government makes sure everyone has exactly the same amount of everything so we don’t have to make excuses to rob, rape and steal. Beautiful sarcasm at its best! LOL! LL’Cool’J, in his gold chains, can kiss my poor white posterior repeatedly before I give a cent to that Rodeo Drive ‘ghetto’ dwelling opportunist! And Paisley is a metrosexual poser, about as manly and countrified as a rainbow-colored butt plug….

  • Matt

I stopped listening to Brad Paisley’s music after seeing his video ‘Welcome to the Future’. In that video full of children proclaiming what wonderful things they want to do when they grow up, there’s nary a white child to be seen. Is that what Brad Paisley wants for the country in which he grew up?

Trying to understand and give the benefit of the doubt to the black community is exactly what whites have done for the past half century. If blacks had lived up to expectations, then LL wouldn’t have to be rapping about continuing to cut blacks some slack.

  • I carry a shank

I’m more of a Merle Haggard fan. Country music doesn’t lend itself to black street culture.

  • sbuffalonative

Is the song based on a real life incident? Was he innocently wearing a Confederate flag Tee and a black man took offense so he felt the need to grovel?
Grovel all you want Mr. Paisley but it won’t stop there. When they get down with you, you’ll be denouncing your ‘racist’ souther forefathers and spitting on their graves. That’s the only thing that will make them happy. Total submission.

  • Tom_in_Miami

Pure tripe as music, but it reminds me something that’s always bothered me. How on earth can so many people mouth the lie (and apparently believe) that whites dislike blacks simply because of “the color of their skin.” It’s not skin color that makes whites want to get away from blacks, it’s the attitude they have, the chip on the shoulder, the filthy language, the likelihood of an attack and possible murder, the theft, the absolute lack of morals. And that’s just for starters, how about the rioting, the rapes, and you fill in the blanks from here…

    • sbuffalonative

Neither their skin color or their social behavior has changed. Maybe if the ‘content of their character’ improved, white attitudes would change.
Let’s at least meet half way. But no. We’re the ones who are branded “intolerant” of the “diversity” blacks give us.

  • NYB

After 30 years of proudly flying the Confederate battle flag, Lynyrd Skynyrd recently announced they were going p.c., and would no longer display it at their shows.

From what I can tell, political correctness is about to collapse under the weight of its own hubris. There will always be a few late-arriving fools who join a movement just before it goes under.

In due time, Brad and the remainder of Skynyrd will get to enjoy the shame they richly deserve.

    • PesachPatriot

I think skynyrd actually backtracked on this one after getting tons of response on social media. I went and saw them with a friend last october and it was pretty impressive and there were plenty of rebel flags….I’m not much of a brad paisley fan…give me johnny cash, hank williams or david allan coe. I was telling one of my friends about this song and if someone is over 21 and still sagging their pants I will basically assume they are clinically retarded no matter what color they are. Operating a belt isn’t terribly complex and if someone can’t figure it out I don’t really want to be the one to instruct them. Perhaps they should perform this song live on MLK boulevard in NOLA or Atlanta after 10 pm….

      • Sherman_McCoy

If they are sagging their pants, they are telling the world that they like it on the “down low.”

        • PesachPatriot

Not necessarily…I think it generally announces to the world “I am a semi-functional idiot with terrible taste in music and cars” who follows every stupid trend that comes along. I can’t see women being very impressed by it. I always get a laugh out of it though…nothing funnier than seeing pants sagging suspects running from the law on COPS.

When Mr. Paisley is assaulted somewhere down the line by a black thug, I’m sure he can try to make use of his collaboration with LL Cool J (who, by the way, looks eerily similar to Chris Dorner) as a “don’t harm me; I’m not like most Whites” card. And I’m just as sure that said black thug will not care in the slightest.

    • sbuffalonative

You see, that’s the problem. People like him live outside the bounds of the real world. He travels in a rarefied realm of notoriety. He doesn’t work ‘down town’ and he can afford to live away from the boyz in da hood. His association with blacks are with a very select few. He moves in circles where he will never feel or be threatened. He has the luxury of associating with a few of the ‘good ones’ and he mistakenly extrapolates that these are representative of most blacks.

  • Aspiring rapper

    • me

‘My chains are gold’…..LOL! One of his gold chains could feed a kneegrow family in Africa for a decade! Oh, the irony of the American kneegrow and his ‘oppression’.

  • Barrack Osama

“Dear Mr. White Man, I wish you understood / What the world is really like when you’re livin’ in the hood”

“The hood” is code for “area with low social capital”, basically “few whites”. Hopefully most whites never do understand what that’s like.

    • me

  • Ralph

Paisley is a puke. Shun him. Shun his records. Spit when you hear his name.

  • Truthseeker

Whites don’t need yet another lecture on how just being themselves is inadvertently “racist.” After a while it gets tiresome. Eventually you just want to throw your hands up and avoid most non-whites.

I’m convinced that there’s really nothing more whites can do to “understand” blacks. They are who they are and we are who we are. After being forced to live together for so long, after having each other’s entertainment media forced on each other for so long, after the mostly one-sided discussion of race that takes place in mainstream America, this whole “you don’t understand” thing sounds more like whining than anything. Besides that, I get the impression that a lot of them don’t want to be “understood,” they just want a sense of importance that comes with having their grievances treated as society’s central issue.

A much more interesting song would be one where a white man earnestly asks blacks to understand what it’s like carrying around a mental burden about the plight of the poor black man, when everywhere he goes it seems like white people are bending over backwards to give them an advantage. No matter how much conditioning he receives to never, under any circumstances discriminate against blacks, no matter how much hip hop culture seems to have displaced the culture he grew up with, no matter how often he sees blacks committing crime, acting like fools in public and performing poorly academically, he’s expected to nod his head and repeat the mantra of “blacks are oppressed everywhere because of the white man’s malicious discrimination and the legacy of slavery.” One line could have him plaintively asking “why can’t I just be me?” I know this song would never get played on the radio, but if it ever got recorded and leaked to the public, it could make some people think.

    • Angry White Woman

I understand blacks perfectly. I also understand rattlesnakes perfectly. I understand that I don’t want to be anywhere near either of them–and for the same reasons. Primarily my own safety and that of my loved ones.

  • Hunter Morrow

Purposeful Pussy is more like. This song is carefully crafted pop-country at its worst.

He didn’t even have the stones to say “Confederate Flag” which was what was on the White singer’s shirt. Nothing says country like teaming up with LL Cool J and your first stanza of the “song” being about a White guilt tribulation you had while ordering a latte at Starbucks.

Literally, that is what this guy is talking about. He is wearing a Confederate shirt in a Starbucks and feels uncomfortable when he sees a 40 year old black guy. No joke. That is what pop country is nowadays.

    I’m just a white man
(If you don’t judge my do-rag)
Comin’ to you from the southland
(I won’t judge your red flag)
Tryin’ to understand what it’s like not to be
I’m proud of where I’m from
(If you don’t judge my gold chains)
    But not everything we’ve done
    (I’ll forget the iron chains)
It ain’t like you and me can re-write history
    (Can’t re-write history baby)

Most of the country music scene today, with a few exceptions, is nothing more than the same commercialized junk, that has befallen the rest of the music industry. It’s all about the big bucks, and not about the beauty, nostalgia, culture, and traditions of being Southern, which is as unique a culture as there ever was and the history of slavery, etc. was just one part of that culture. Today it isn’t even an issue, because when I was visiting the South, even as far back as 1976, I saw whites stepping aside for blacks and nothing much different was going on in the South, than was going on in the rest of the U.S. at the time. Artists like Paisley are just feeding the endless grievances that are clearly used to KEEP THE MAN DOWN. Hey, there’s a theme for a contemporary country music song, things that “keep the man down!!

  • RHG

I love some of the moderately old country music. From about 1970 to 1990. Don’t care for the really old stuff, and the new stuff is crap like this Brad Paisley disgrace. Throw some Charlie Daniels on, or some Alabama, and I’m a happy camper.

    • SmithandSmith

You don’t know what you’re missin’.

OLD Country is where it’s at and yes, I’m talking WAY BEFORE The Seventies. Twenties, Thirties, Forties, Fifties and Sixties is BEST!

REAL Country came WAY Before Civil Rights began and guess who was included in that bunch? That’s right, BLACK People like Ray Charles and Etta James. Oh, damn me, I let out the unknown “racist” secret…

        • SmithandSmith

I like Charlie Pride. Not half as much as Ray Charles but hey, I find Ray Charles to be Truly Talented. Also, Charles had no problem playing to segregated crowds until some loud mouthed negro got in the way and reminded him that he was actually black.

What bothers me most is how he (ray charles) chose to go along with the negro when the only people who actually loved him and made him famous was White Folk. That makes me angry.

    • Sherman_McCoy

Ever listened to Paisley’s title track “This is Country Music”? Not live, not from “Good Morning, America,” but the original track. If not, please do so, and then post back. Maybe that’ll help explain why this latest garbage tune from Brad has me so damned depressed.

  • SmithandSmith

What a colossal idiot this “white” Man is. Slavery was never known here before a Black Man brought it here yet here he is, taking blame for something he never did for a bunch of people who never were a part of it. You can’t get any dumber than that.

Side thought here: How come no one complains about the non-white/jew slave owners? Is this deliberate or just an “innocent” mishap?

    • me

It’s totally innocent! Fun fact: In 1860, during the height of slave ownership in the United States, only 1.6% of households of the total population owned slaves, including black households–according to the US Census Beaureau of 1860.

  • Funruffian

This song is a feeble, yet lucrative, attempt to make Blacks come to terms with Whites. But it misfires, because the lyrics from LL. Cool J. do not resonate with me. And I doubt any White would relate to it. Of course, being someone else would make us learn. But we aren’t and we cannot make that transformation.
I’m sure this will catch alot of buzz in the MTV and media and it will make a ton of $$$.

    • me

You mean that you can’t relate to a Rodeo Drive negro, singing about ‘black oppresion in his gold chains, Rolex, and designer wear?

  • Sherman_McCoy

Sigh. I discovered country just a few years ago. So much of it speaks so well to the human (especially white) condition, and I appreciate that it is a largely white art form. It has been a delight to go back and listen to the traditionalists/neo-traditionalists/outlaws and to begin to appreciate many decades of music I had never heard. I particularly enjoy the honky-tonking songs, which didn’t really resonate with me until my divorce. There are also a great many songs about fatherhood that (now having 5 kids) will bring a smile and a tear to my eye. George Strait, Alan Jackson, Dwight Yoakum are particular favorites of mine. Toby Keith’s teaming up with Sting for “I’m So Happy That I Can’t stop Cryin'” really nails the dumped dad theme, which only goes to prove that a country singer and a rocker can put out something great.

When I first heard Brad Paisley, I was floored by his incredible virtuosity on the Telecaster, while at the same time belting out his (mostly) self-written songs, which were generally of very high quality. He gave the being a step-dad theme real real tear-jerking legitimacy with (The Father That ) “He Didn’t Have to Be.” If you can listen to that and not be a little moved, then I doubt your humanity.

Brad can play just about every guitar genre, and very well. I loved his earlier work, (though have never seen any of his videos), so when the “This is Country Music” came out, I was one of the first to buy it. One could quibble about the Ventures-inspired tunes, but all the other major country themes were covered. The duet with Don Henley really resonated with me. But there was one little maggot in this T-Bone. One verse in the song “Camouflage” was

“Well the stars and bars offend some folks and I guess I see why
Nowadays there’s still a way to show your southern pride
The only thing as patriotic is the old red white and blue
Is green and gray and black and brown and tan all over too”

I suppose that should have been a dead giveaway that all was not well in Mr. Paisley’s view of reality. I also believe that he has played for the “president” at the “white” house.

So, as much as I have liked him in the past, I’m afraid this ill-advised paen to white guilt has soured me permanently on the man. I do understand the fraternity felt by entertainers of any race, but for heaven’s sake, a Rapper?!?

    Say it ain’t so, Brad!

    • me

Have you ever noticed that most of the ‘entertainment industry’ is owned by the special ‘chosen ones’? Did you ever notice how famous people ‘disappear’ if they don’t tow the Marxist line? Now do you understand Paisley’s bipolar disorder? A ‘sellout’ isn’t what it used to mean anymore….we’re talking about more than money these days….

  • Sherman_McCoy

Oh God. I just listened to as much of this as I could stand. WTF, Brad? I mean, just WTF???

LL Cool J joins the song to rap, “Dear Mr. White Man, I wish you understood / What the world is really like when you’re livin’ in the hood /

I suppose blacks pretend they know what it’s like to be white because they watch an average of 7 hours of television a day. That, and the fact that nobody in the media ever calls, or allows anyone else to call, blacks out on the torrents of stupidity that routinely emerge from their mouths. Once they get away with saying it long enough, they assume it’s true.

Just because my pants are saggin’ doesn’t mean I’m up to no good /

Yes it does. It means, once you’re done whining and moaning about how the cops treat all blacks dressed like thugs as if they were indeed thugs, you go out and dress like thugs so the thugs will have a background of camouflage in which to hide, and the cops won’t be able to tell you apart.

It’s easy to see that a man with his shirt tucked in and his pants belted up isn’t armed. It’s practically impossible to tell if a man in baggy clothes with his shirt free is unarmed. This is simple common sense.

This is prima facie evidence that the aforementioned whining and moaning is all nonsense; if black “yoofs” don’t want to be treated like thugs or gunned down accidentally by cops, all they have to do is tuck their shirts into their pants, wear belts, and stay away from thugs. That practically none of them do this is explicit evidence that they don’t take the “dangers” they’re always whining about seriously; that it’s simply the ploy of the sociopath, which has naturally been taken up by a sociopathic race.

You should try to get to know me, I really wish you would / Now my chains are gold but I’m still misunderstood.”

“Now my chains are gold”? FFS.

    • I suppose blacks pretend they know what it’s like to be white because they watch an average of 7 hours of television a day.

I actually heard a black woman say this to another black woman:

“I wish my daughter would start watching these shows (soap operas) that I watch so she can see the way the world really works out there.”

No wonder blacks are so mad, if they think that life depicted on dope operas is real life. Everybody has easy jobs which requires little real work of them yet pays them enough money such that they can life in the lap of luxury and the biggest crises in their lives are their petty little love lives.

It truly does take a frontal lobe to distinguish fiction from reality.

    • PesachPatriot

Not to live up to stereotypes or anything, but I will gladly relieve mr. cool j of the heavy burdens of his gold chains, millions of dollars, fancy cars and any other oppression he may feel in american society. I wish i could be oppressed and mistreated half as bad as he was. You make a good point about the pants thing. I don’t get nervous walking by a 70 year old black grandmother in church clothes, but if I see more than 3 young black men with pants sagging and grills I assume i could potentially be encountering DuMarquise Elkins and act accordingly.

They really are laughing right in our faces with this type of garbage.
