Allen West: Tanning Salon Tax ‘Racist’

Huffington Post, April 6, 2012

Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) may support parts of President Obama’s health care law, but he has a problem with the 10 percent tax on tanning salons. He told a mostly Democratic group of seniors at a retirement home near West Palm Beach, Florida, that he thinks the provision is racist, according to the Palm Beach Post.

“You want to talk about something that’s really racist? They have a tanning tax,” he said. “I’m not tanning.”

It was not the first time a conservative has made the claim that the tax discriminates against light-skinned people.

Sarah Palin and Nikki Haley have named West among their top picks for the GOP vice presidential candidate.

  • There is something seriously psychologically wrong with Allen West.

My e-mail address ended up on his e-mail list for his press releases somehow, and in spite of my requests to stop, I’m still getting his PRs.

A few weeks ago, he introduced Federal legislation to force states to enact graduated drivers license schemes for teenagers.  Whether or not you support GDL, that’s not the point.  The point is that states should have latitude, and I thought the whole point of all these “tea party” Republicans was states’ rights and responsibilities.

Then he interjects himself into the Sir Skittles affair, mostly on his side.

A few days ago, he lauded his own first-hand investigation of binge drinking among teenage girls.  Yeah, sure, let’s call it social activism.  I’ll believe that the same day I’ll believe that all the FBI agents that wanted in on the investigation of the leaked nude photos of Scarlett Johansson were merely public spirited law men.  Why not investigate binge drinking among teenage boys, West?  Answer:  His name isn’t Jerry Sandusky.  (Ooh, I didn’t just say that, did I?  Have I gone too far, or have I not gone far enough?)  As an aside, in his PR about this particular matter, his wife uses a hyphenated surname.  He acts like a real alpha in public, but he must be a real beta at home for him not to convince his own wife to use his and only his surname.

Now this thing with the tanning beds, also mainly a concern for teenagers and young adults.

Why is Allen West so concerned with adolescents all of a sudden?  It could be something as innocuous as a mid-life crisis hitting him hard and fast.  Or it could be something more devious and unmentionable.   Either way, you have to question his sanity.  Curiously, the Florida Republicans in the state legislature aced him out of his Congressional district several weeks ago.  Now, ordinarily, most Republicans fawn over him like he’s some sort of demigod, and Florida Republicans aren’t any different than any plain ole boilerplate lamestream conservative.  Why did they do this to him?  Do they know something we don’t?

The more I see of this character, the less I like.  Then again, I should have been like James Edwards, who never liked him or all the sickening white neos and lamers who fawned over him from the get-go.

I never liked him either.  With Hannity, Palin, Haley drooling over him, we know we’re on to something.

      •  He bothers me for his own set of reasons.  But I despise the white slobbering over him and other blacks and other kinds of non-whites, such as Rubio, Nimrata Randhawa, Piyush Jindal, etc., even more.

Someone mentioned West and the incident in Iraq.  That actually doesn’t bother me, because I would have done the same in the same position.  But the fact that it’s such a controversy proves why we have no business occupying any third world country, because we don’t have the stomach to do what it takes to keep Arabs peaceful because of our own egalitarian attitudes.  I’m of the opinion that most people get the government they deserve most of the time — Saddam Hussein was a brutal SOB for a reason!

Back to Mr. West — I hope he loses his next election to a boring white 45-year old accountant with male pattern baldness, if for anything else, to be able to see Dana Loesch bawl her eyes out.

        •  rubio is white

          • IstvanIN

He is Latin American and side with “his” people. Just like Bob Menendez.  They may both be 100% European but they do not identify with us and will work against us.

About as white as a Kardashian.

          • The_Bobster

The Miami-based group Citizens Of Dade United (of which I am vice president) has backed Florida state immigration enforcement bills for many years. But the Hispanic Caucus legislators have blocked them all.

Central to this unAmerican activity: Marco Rubio. In 2008, when he was Florida House Speaker, Rubio told his appointed Rules Chairman Rep. David Rivera and six Chairmen with bills in their committees to stall all six until the session ended.

All Chairmen followed Rubio’s orders. The session ended, killing the six House Bills, also killing 4 Senate Bills.[In Memory Of My Grandson: Reflections On Reclaiming Florida]

“I be aginst the cracker tax.”

And so a white Republican thinks that makes him a good choice for VP.  When will these people end all their “Negrophilia” (see Erik Rush).

  • Local_Ale

West voted against repealing Obamacare, and was most recently, on the wrong side of the Martin issue (if moderating his tact when more facts came out).  This was a month after saying that one should wait and see on the crazed soldier who murdered a family and then some in Afghanistan.

West is horrible at politics as anyone can see.

  • No

Well said, Anon12, but I’d add that the remaining 0.1% aren’t exactly the picture of health either.

  • Tanning is bad for people , ages their skin, and makes them more prone to cancer.

  • No

    Let’s see . . . conservative negro . . . can speak passable English . . . forced to leave the Army after torturing a man . . .  in bed with defense contractors . . . hey, what’s not to like.

    Did I mention he’s a NEGRO?

Looks like the Republicans will be pandering more than usual this summer . . . if Romney could just find a vegetarian, gun-owning,  trans-gender,  1/2 black, 1/2 hispanic “female” who’s raising a pair of Haitian kids with her disabled lesbian “partner” . . . he would win it for sure.

    • Carney3

Why not?  The left constantly pushes white people at us, including whites with rural accents who thus implicitly seem like they are one of us and on our side.  Carter, Clinton, Gore, you name it.   If getting a token on the ticket will help us slam the door to non-white immigration I’m not automatically against it.

  • redfeathers

I’m also SO tired of CONservatives and neocons talking only about black-on-black crime.  With the Martin/Zimmerman case number one in the news, this would be a great time for someone with courage to talk about black-on-white crime.  The best comment so far was on Fox News from Tucker Carlson to Alan Colmes…”Do you really want to have a conversation about who kills who?”.

  • anmpr1

MSM neocons will never give up their search for The Great Black Hope.  Last one was the “pizza guy” who couldn’t keep his hands off White women.

  • JackKrak

Other taxes and fees that are apparently “racist” then since they impact primarily or exlusively white people – sales taxes on things like books, classical music concerts and educational travel , entrance fees to museums and national parks, income tax on entrpreneurial activity generally, tuition for private schools and professional training, tickets bought for academic lectures, etc…..

  •  And they might not really be that “conservative,” even the kind of watered down variety that passes for it.

I’m not old by any stretch of the imagination (just turned 35), but I’m old enough to know better when it comes to certain things.  The reason certain kinds of people are obsessed with people like Allen West, other than the obvious, is because he is an oratorical bombast, and in this instance, I don’t mean that as a pejorative.  In Congress, votes are the name of the game, not oratory.  I’ve heard so much oratory in my time as a political adult, some great, some boring, that it doesn’t impress or depress me anymore.  If I had a big red button in front of me, and pressing it means Allen West disappears from public life and in his place goes five white 40-something boring balding accountants in Congress who all vote the right way (and I mean OUR definition of right), I’d hit that button.

It’s for the same reason why my beaux ideal of Christian radio is R.C. Sproul and not Tony Evans.

  • Lou

The number one reason I don’t go to the blaze anymore. With all the pro black pandering it’s disgusting, EVERYONE on there commenting were FOR Cain were FOR West just like their leader cry baby Glenn. I couldn’t take it anymore..

    •  The Blaze’s story selection is okay, but not perfect.  But I don’t read their comments because they will tend to egalitarian excuseology.

  • haley.  This indian is desperate to get into the Highest Ranks of Government it possibly can, by whoever will take it and by, if it could get away with it, however it could.  In short, the indian backing west is so par for course, it’s boring.

Palin on the otherhand, is following suit.  “republicans” love non-white so she does too…

tea party – They’ve always went out of their way to prove they’re not “racist”.  A dusting of White Men Leaders and the rest is women and non-whites.  They’re also very quick to expel those who dare to Speak Racial Truth.  They sure wasted no time getting rid of that one White Man Leader and he didn’t even say anything “racist”.

  •  There are a lot of Kurds in Germany, and they’re not exactly good guests.  The Kurdish presence in Germany is big enough that they can produce some Kurdish language TV to beam back to the Kurds in Turkey, where there is no Kurdish language media because the Turkish government has prohibited it, because they’re trying to preclude Kurdish secession.

I think the Kurds also get the government they deserve, and that is Saddam-style brutality.

Why would a white gentile ever vote for a black man? Alan West is a protected black man in America. He has the Justice Dept and the US government protecting him. Thousands of civil rights group stand for him. White gentiles have no protection; there is not one civil rights group protecting our interest; we stand alone as individuals. Our government refuses to allow us to organize into groups comparable to the NAACP, LaRasa. Illegals have more rights than the white gentile. Our government pushes his rights above all white gentiles rights. He is black and conservative because of the power and possibilities for a black man in the Republican Party.
