Andre Carson: Tea Party Wants Blacks ‘Hanging on a Tree’

Jake Sherman, Politico, August 31, 2011

A top lawmaker in the Congressional Black Caucus says tea partiers on Capitol Hill would like to see African-Americans hanging from trees and accuses the movement of wishing for a return to the Jim Crow era.

Rep. Andre Carson, a Democrat from Indiana who serves as the CBC’s chief vote counter, said at a CBC event in Miami that some in Congress would “love to see us as second-class citizens” and “some of them in Congress right now of this tea party movement would love to see you and me . . . hanging on a tree.”

Carson also said the tea party is stopping change in Congress, likening it to “the effort that we’re seeing of Jim Crow.”

The explosive comments, caught on tape, were uploaded on the Internet Tuesday, and Carson’s office stood by the remarks. Jason Tomcsi, Carson’s spokesman, said the comment was “in response to frustration voiced by many in Miami and in his home district in Indianapolis regarding Congress’s inability to bolster the economy.” Tomcsi, in an email, wrote that “the congressman used strong language because the Tea Party agenda jeopardizes our most vulnerable and leaves them without the ability to improve their economic standing.

“The Tea Party is protecting its millionaire and oil company friends while gutting critical services that they know protect the livelihood of African-Americans, as well as Latinos and other disadvantaged minorities,” Tomcsi wrote. {snip}

A top lawmaker in the Congressional Black Caucus says tea partiers on Capitol Hill would like to see African-Americans hanging from trees

Methinks he’s projecting with his colorful vituperative. I think he would like to see US hanging from trees.

“The Tea Party is protecting its millionaire and oil company friends…

Hmm, I wonder if members of any TPM affiliated org gets a discount at the pump.

    From the original article:

“We are talking about child nutrition, job creation, job training, housing assistance, and Head Start, and that is just the beginning. A child without basic nutrition, secure housing, and quality education has no real chance at a meaningful and productive life.”

I fail to see how “cuts” (which have not happened yet) in any of these programs is tantamount to hanging someone from a tree.

I’ll make the point again — Even if you fashion yourself to be non-racist or anti-racist, but you still want to reduce the size, scope and power of the Federal government and state governments, then you’re a “racist” anyway. Blacks are basically government dependents. Not only monetarily, but for other qualitative factors, such as affirmative action.

A very biased report from Politico — but then, it leans left anyway. Note the lengthy “defense” of Carson’s inflammatory words, written by one of his flunkies, is quoted in full, while no one is quoted from among the many outraged by them.

Also, Politico failed to note — mostly likely on purpose — that at least two other Black Caucus members have recently dumped on the Tea Party Movement: One said the Tea Party can “go to hell;” the other declared the Tea Partiers “the enemy.”

Now that he mentions it, a return to Jim Crow might make a great deal of America safe to walk around in again.

  • racially insensitive joke

O’Reilly had that good looking Tami Bruce hottie on TV last night, and she finally put the “Accountability Strategy” into the mainstream, but did so only too far into the segment to get a response or be carried forward.

She pointed out that while the CBC is complaining about the imagined Tea Party lynching crews, they aren’t saying anything about the flash mobs.

She tried, but failed. She didn’t say: “Bill, why are you interviewing us, Alan Combs and me, two Whiteys. You should have the NAACP on and asking them what they are or aren’t doing to demand that the CBC go on the offensive against violent and dangerously anti-Whitey flash mobs that are now at epidemic portions and are causing real racists to sound legitimate and Jim Crow to sound like a good solution?”

She’s “come far, but she still has more work to do.”

  • Kingoldby

So, any threat to the flow of taxpayers money directly to blacks now provokes that much hysteria?

They must be really worried in the professional shakedown class, this is heartening!

“African-Americans, as well as Latinos and other disadvantaged minorities”

Name one other “disadvantaged minority”. Asians? Oops – nope. Native Americans? Oops – nope, they get everything paid for by white guilt.

  • (AWG) Average White Guy

    Kudos to Carson.

Such nonsense reinforced the fact that the race card has been over played.

    Carson, btw, is a Muslim.

  • margaret

Here is some wonderful news on the race front.

The debut of Al Sharpton’s new program on MSNBC did not go very well Monday. As TVNewser reported, “PoliticsNation” actually attracted less viewers than Michael Smerconish did guest-hosting for Chris Matthews on “Hardball”:

Sharpton only had 519,000 total viewers in his debut.

That’s less than a guest-host on “Hardball” who few Americans have ever heard of.

Possibly more concerning to MSNBC top brass – assuming they actually care about ratings! – was Sharpton getting less than one-third the viewers of Fox News’s “Special Report” as well as being soundly beaten by CNN’s “Situation Room.”

“PoliticsNation” also did poorly in the all-important demographic aged 25 to 54.

To be sure, this is only one day, but it can’t be the debut anyone at this farce of a so-called “news network” was hoping for. Nice job, Al!

And what was the response to this by the Congressional White Caucus? Oh.

  • white is right, black is whack

“The Tea Party is protecting its millionaire and oil company friends while gutting critical services that they know protect the livelihood of African-Americans, as well as Latinos and other disadvantaged minorities,” Tomcsi wrote.

Like what? Welfare checks and other freebies “disadvantaged minorities” get?

  • Free State Paul

Actually, Carson is very astute and being very honest.

Without local, state and federal government programs — funded by Whites — five out of six Blacks would starve in a modern, Western nation like the US. Black welfare depends on a constant flow of resources from Whites passed along by the government.

When you talk about cutting taxes and reducing the size of the government, you are really talking about forcing Blacks to fend for themselves in a world they are not mentally or behaviorally suited to survive in.

  • ice

It isn’t just this Carson. All the CBC members were riling up the black mobs, inciting racial war.

The community organizer’s economic policies are causing black disempowerment and a loss of jobs, especially since he signed the executive order giving back door amnesty to illegals.

But it’s whitey as usual they’re blaming. And they’re putting whitey on notice that they have the power to set the black mobs into action, so he had better back off talking about balanced budgets and nonsensical things like that.

You know, no justice, no peace.

Shape up whitey, or there will be a flash mob attacking you when you least expect it.

  • John

Rep Carson does not need to worry about anything. The reality is there are too many people (specialy blacks) that are dependent on Goverment hand out and Government jobs. If those cuts are ever made we will have Greece style riots in our hand. No body wants that, so they will keep priniting money and add to the deficit. so long as dollar remains a world currency, things will go on as usuall. Now if some major countries decide tommorow not to accept dollar in favor of some thing else well then we shall see major crisis comming to this country.

“The tea party wants blacks hanging from trees and a return to Jim Crow”.

I seriously doubt the tea party wants to kill anyone, but the Jim Crow part is another thing altogether. If re- segregation was ever reintroduced, would any white contributor to this forum cry over it???

All this coming from a black liberal Democrat. How ironic, when asked privately why he signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 Democrat Lyndon Johnson said because “I’ll have those ni**ers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.”

He was right. And what has blind loyalty to the Democratic Party done for Afro-Americans in this country?

Oh, we know about him in Philly. He’s a liberal pretending to be a conservative on 1210 AM, a station that took a markedly leftward turn after they dumped Beck and Hannity to save money.

It is whites who should be complaining about lynch/flash mobs.

It is whites who should be asking why is it ok to have a black caucus but not a white caucus.

  • Educated White Female

This comment is simply proof that when an individual or a group says or does something that is contrary to what black groups want, the blacks label it as something extreme – like “lynching,” “Jim Crow,” “Second Class Citizen,” etc. The blacks are incapable of intelligent comments so they come up with the “big word bombs” in the hopes of obliterating the other point of view via shock tactics. Doesn’t work if you have any brains or education at all. Only stupid people buy that. (Maxine Waters is an expert at this sort of thing).

I sure am surprised to hear that. I have been to a couple of meetings by conservatives. For some reason there is one black guy attending. When he speaks they all clap like it is the greatest thing they ever heard. They fall all over him. Give whites in a group a black and they will, well, never mind…

I was involved in a car accident, being hit from behind by a car driven by a black woman. There were half a dozen or more white people glued to her car, all so concerned about her well being. Not a single person said one word to me.

“The Tea Party is protecting its millionaire and oil company friends while gutting critical services that they know protect the livelihood of African-Americans, as well as Latinos and other disadvantaged minorities,”

    It’s all about the money.

One reason blacks voted for President Obama was because they believed a black president would stop ‘giving’ money to rich, white, conservatives, and evil corporations and give it to black people.

In the mind of blacks, that a black president hasn’t showered the black man on the street with wealth and riches is PROOF that rich, white, conservatives, and evil corporations are stopping their black president from giving them money.

Blacks haven’t gotten their jackpot lottery winnings after electing President Obama so someone must be responsible.

The deeper meaning of [the Breivik massacre] goes far beyond giving the haircuts on the television news a new rhetorical weapon. It means multiculturalism and mass immigration are now pushing some white people into the same nihilistic psychological space as Muslims, left with nothing but an overwhelming urge to destroy. If the liberals had the wit to understand this, they would be profoundly alarmed.

But at the moment this makes no difference – you have two urges to destroy, with the utterly rotten edifice of liberalism in the middle. And this is what matters, not what Rachel Maddow is babbling tomorrow. We may even find that the liberals’ expressions of hate toward the right become actually less intemperate after this, as they begin to sense the stirrings of the monster which they have done so much to awake, and, having cried wolf a thousand times, now find themselves confronted by a dragon; and begin to realize that all their silly ranting about how awful the Right is will be of no use if they are to be confronted by a Right which really is awful.

From what I have seen, the Tea Party falls all over itself for Black conservatives. I am sure the vast majority only wish more non-Whites would join their ranks. Sure they say they are against illegal immigration and a few will say we need less legal immigration until things improve. However, not 1 out of 100 would say they are for a White America.

  • Tom S.

    #7 – AWG – Carson, btw, is a Muslim.

Right you are AWG, and to make matters even worse hes also some big-wig at the TSA and has stated that the biggest danger to this country are White supremist groups. That should make you sleep better.

Don’t kid yourselves, the CBC is doing Obamas dirty work at his command.

  • Rebelcelt

In a way he is right. If we whites stop giving all this money to blacks they know they will whither off the vine and die as if they were hanged.

Blacks know deep down that they can not make it without Whitey giving everything to them.Even the ones willing to work know that they got to get jobs from Whitey..Even the ones with buisnesses know they need minority set asides.

They know it and hate us for it.

  • Frank

Yeah, I see those tea party guys and gals on the golf course with the rich all the time. No doubt they all have oil stock. Carson, a Muslim, just wants the government to take care of “his” people. What a waste of a seat in congress! Is this the best Indiana can do? But then, he is from a city.

Reminds me of that old joke:

Q: What do you call a black man at a conservative rally?

    A: The keynote speaker.

GreatNorthWoods: “If re- segregation was ever reintroduced, would any white contributor to this forum cry over it???” I wouldn’t want to return to legally-mandated and enforced segregation. I think all should be treated equally before the law. We don’t need the mandated segregation of old. All we need is to stop the handouts, forced integration, affirmative action, etc, and let nature take its course. The only reason for existence of a black middle class in the US is the trillions of dollars that have been poured into it, plus AA and other forced integration frameworks.

Take away the handouts and forced integration and blacks will, within 5 years, return to being a quasi-third-world underclass in the US. They will not be able to live in white areas or go to white schools, due to simple lack of funds.

From some point of view, the CBC is correct, in that the Tea Party wants a return to segregation. This time it won’t be a legally-mandated segregation, as it was back in the days of Jim Crow, but a segregation derived from economic outcome, which in turn is derived from the cognitive gap, which is innate and will never go away.

The Tea Party’s goal (radically smaller government) is going to happen one way or another. The Tea Party approach is for it to happen in a voluntary, controlled way. The Democratic approach is for it to happen Greek-style: we run out of money, the gov’t can’t pay its bills, and the cards fall where they may.

Rep. Carson’s late grandma, Julia Carson, was his immediate predecessor. She was no bargain either.

” top lawmaker in the Congressional Black Caucus says tea partiers on Capitol Hill would like to see African-Americans hanging from trees and accuses the movement of wishing for a return to the Jim Crow era.”

You know, when you commit a crime, you have to take the punishment equal to the offense. Time was, it didn’t matter which race it was, all were ‘equal under the law.’

But for the last forty years, especially since a Black activist noted that ‘Civil Rights laws were never meant to apply to Whites, and since Bakke was the last white to benefit from these unjust laws, non-Whites have been getting away with murder… and rape, and money laundering, and theft, and aggravated assualt, and, and, and….

“IF you aren’t guilty, you don’t got to worry,” as an old Black woman I knew in church used to say….

    “…protecting its millionaire…friends…”

The Tea Party?? It’s obama who is, almost daily, issuing new slush funds (regardless of the fact that it’s congress’s job) to millionaires. Just heard two “green job” scams today. “Bundlers” of obama money getting $20,000,000 “loans” and then producing 3 jobs in 2 years (latest was a solar “industry” in Seattle).

  • Anonymous

The ‘hanging from a tree’ line is not to be taken literally, it is coded language for “if you support tax cuts we will call you a racist, period”. By dint of constant if mindless repetition, a mental association will be set up between ‘tax cuts’ and ‘racists’, intended to bring about the result that those who argue for tax cuts will undergo all the penalties that are inflicted on ‘racists’.

No matter what hate filled, racist, outlandish statement blacks make the liberals defend them. They’re deranged.

There’s many non-whites in positions of power now who would like to see tens or hundreds of thousands of dead whites hanging from trees and lamp posts from ropes. Only the fools among us believe otherwise. This comment about the Tea Party is nothing less than a smear against all whites, not just those of us who see we are dancing towards the edge of a very high cliff in the dark while wearing a blindfold.
