Big Brother Day 86: Brian Tells Amanda ‘I Love You’

London Daily Mail, August 23, 2007

It became spicier in the Big Brother house as Brian finally uttered those three little words to Amanda before the housemates launched into a series of controversial drinking games.

Brian and Amanda were on the sofa in the bathroom when he finally said: “I love you.”

Earlier, Brian and Amanda were on the sofa in the bathroom.

Their conversation began with an argument over how to pronounce the word irritable.

“You speak more slowly than I do,” said Brian.

“Wow,” said Amanda, “No-one’s ever said that. Everyone says I speak way too fast.”

“Irr-it-able,” said Brian trying to slow down his pronunciation. “Irr-it-a-bull.”

No, that wasn’t it. Syllables don’t count.

“Give me a cuddle,” said Brian.

Amanda obliged and this prompted Brain to speak the magic words.

“I love you,” said the self confessed Jack the Lad. “You’re a good girl, you are.”

Amanda smiled and then moved the conversation on.

But Big Brother did not allow the hot atmosphere to cool down and the contestants—to their delight—were later plied with alcohol.

Typically, this came with stipulations: there were games to be played and they had the potential to become explosive.

Reading the accompanying instructions to her overly-excited housemates, Tracey started: “All right guys, I’ve been instructed to tell you that we have some booze in the House, but we have to play some games.

“We gotta play Kiss, Marry or Evict, Truth or Dare or Have You Ever . . . Which one d’you wanna play first?”

They opted for Kiss, Marry or Evict—a potential minefield of a game in which each player has to take a turn as question master and, as the name suggests, ask the housemate next to them who they would like to kiss, who they would marry and who they would evict.

All three questions had to be asked and answered or the task would be failed.

The housemates wasted little time getting stuck in.

The first round of the drinking game caused discomfort among the gang.

Kara-Louise was quick to say: “I’d have to marry Tracey . . .”

“Get in!” Tracey grinned.

“. . . Kiss Brian and ‘bye bye’ twins,” Kara-Louise concluded.

Speaking as one—and at exactly the same time—the twins decided to “kiss Carole, marry Liam and evict Jonty”.

Next up, Tracey announced her decisions causing some surprise among her fellow housemates.

“I’d marry Carole,” said Tracey. “I’d evict Liam and kiss Ziggy.”

Then Ziggy revealed his choices.

“I’d have to marry Carole,” said Ziggy—which may not have been the phrasing Carole was hoping for.

“I’d have to kiss Kara-Louise. Liam, I can’t kiss or marry you.”

“So you’ll throw me out to the wolves?” asked Liam.

As the booze flowed the game concluded quite quickly.

“That was a bit fast, wasn’t it?” Carole remarked, prompting the housemates to play a second round.

It was the same game only this time everyone changed their choices for reasons best known to themselves.

Two games, Have You Ever . . .—which sees the housemates answer revealing questions such as: “Have you ever had a wee in the shower?” or “Have you ever nominated someone and regretted it?”—and Truth or Dare remained to be played.

Three of the housemates—Kara-Louise, Jonty and Tracey—will be facing the public vote to avoid being evicted from the Channel 4 reality show.

They will learn their fate tomorrow night, with only one able to stay for the show’s final week.

The two departures will leave nine housemates—or eight if twins Sam and Amanda are counted as one person—slugging it out to win.
