Salisbury Teen Convicted of Murder Despite Witness Intimidation

Despite threats and intimidation that prosecutors said made witnesses reluctant to testify, a Wicomico County jury convicted a Salisbury teenager this week of second-degree murder in the 2025 shooting death of a 24-year-old man.

The Circuit Court jury found Jonathan Jobe, 19, guilty Wednesday in the killing of Dajaud Townsend. Court records show Jobe was also convicted of assault and firearms offenses.

Prosecutors said Jobe shot Townsend on July 15, 2025, in the backyard of a home in the 600 block of Smith Street after Townsend made a comment that offended him.

After the comment, prosecutors said, Jobe placed a firearm against Townsend’s head and demanded that Townsend fight him. When Townsend said he did not want to fight, Jobe shot him in the face, the Wicomico County state’s attorney’s office said in a news release.
