Son of Former Mexican President Challenges Trump After Visa Revoked
Finya Swai, The Hill, August 14, 2026
Andrés Manuel López Beltrán — the son of former Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador — said the U.S. has revoked his visa and accused President Trump’s top diplomats of politically targeting him.
In a letter released Thursday and addressed to Trump, López Beltrán, also known as “Andy,” alleged Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau moved to cancel his visa for reasons he described as “political in nature—or rather, petty political and propagandistic.”
López Beltrán, an influential figure in Mexico’s ruling Morena party, went on to accuse the U.S. officials of behaving like “gang leaders” who interfere in the affairs of other countries and retaliate against politicians who refuse to align with Washington.

López Beltrán directly pressed Trump to confirm whether he knew about the decision to revoke his visa and questioned why the president would OK the move if he had done so. If not, he called for the firing of Rubio and Landau.
