Texas Police Capture Shooting Suspects ‘Linked to Ten Random Attacks Which Injured Four People’

Melissa Koenig, Daily Mail, May 17, 2026

Three shooters believed to be linked to 10 random attacks have been arrested following a chaotic weekend in Austin, Texas.

Two of the suspects were 15 years old and 17 years old, with authorities saying the 17-year-old had a prior warrant for theft of a gun from the same store where the 15-year-old stole a firearm on Saturday.

The teens had last been seen driving a white KIA Optima, though they have previously also used a black or dark blue Hyundai, a gold Hyundai sedan and a silver Mazda four-door as they carried out the attacks. All of the vehicles had been stolen.

They were apprehended Sunday evening when police in Manor made a traffic stop on the white Kia Optima, while a third suspect inside the vehicle ran.

The shootings began on Saturday night and continued into Sunday morning.

The suspects had fired at two fire stations, authorities said, but a motive for the shootings remains unclear.

At a news conference, Davis said authorities first received a call about the theft of the firearm, and soon also received a call about a stolen vehicle.

But soon, police received about 20 service calls coming from across south Austin about shots fired, including at apartment buildings and at the fire stations.
