Woman Who Hit Nurse Over Race Was Wanted in Carjacking

A woman arrested on Christmas Eve for allegedly hitting a hospital nurse over her race was wanted on a warrant for a carjacking last year.

Dashawna Williams, 26, was being treated at Methodist South hospital on Tuesday night when police say she punched a nurse practitioner in the face with a closed fist.

Williams admitted to hitting the woman because she did not want to be treated by a white medical attendant, police said.

Williams was taken into custody and charged with assault for that incident, but police noted she was wanted on a warrant issued Dec. 4 that was related to a carjacking.
