Germany: 15-Year-Old Girl Gang-Raped at Catholic Youth Party

A party organized by a Catholic youth organization in Speyer was supposed to be a celebration of Carnival, known as “Fasching” in German, in a safe space. However, disaster struck when a 15-year-old victim was gang raped at the location in Speyer, in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The Rhinepfalz police department described a “sexual assault by three young people aged 15 to 19.” According to police, two of the perpetrators were underage Syrians, while the third was a German citizen of Croatian descent. However, a more recent report, from SWR, indicates that there was also a fourth suspect involved in the case.

The prosecutor in the case says the suspects fled the party after the crime and that they are “already known to the police for other crimes such as theft and bodily harm.”

The attack took place in the basement of the Catholic Youth Community (KJG) center at St. Joseph’s, according to senior prosecutor Hubert Ströber, although he said for “investigative reasons,” he could not reveal further details of the alleged crime.

The girl was treated at a hospital, after which prosecutors and police questioned the girl yesterday morning.

According to reports, the girl was gang-raped at approximately 9:00 p.m. Once police arrived, they ordered everyone to stay at the scene; however, the incident did not stop the Catholic event from continuing, according to SWR, as the party kept going until midnight.

According to the organizer of the party, around 300 teenagers and young adults, aged 14 years and older, were present at the Carnival party.

Carnival is celebrated primarily in the West of the country, often featuring elaborate costumes and parade floats.

Gang rapes have risen dramatically in tandem with mass immigration to Germany. Last year, they reached a record number, with half of all suspects listed as foreigners, according to police data. Those listed as “Germans” also include foreigners who obtained German citizenship or the children of foreigners who received citizenship at birth.

A number of high-profile cases involving foreigners have included up to 12 men raping one teen. Similar problems involving foreigners and gang rape exist throughout Europe,
