Raiders Cut Damon Arnette for Making Death Threats in Gun-Toting Tiktok Clip

The Las Vegas Raiders have released another first-round pick this month, cutting cornerback Damon Arnette after he threatened to kill someone while brandishing guns in a social media video.

‘[I’m] five minutes away,’ Arnette said in a self-recorded social media video that shows him holding a series of firearms and threatening to kill someone, who isn’t named in the clip. ‘Pull up lame-ass n*****, I swear to god I will kill you, n*****. On everything I love, I will kill you, n*****. You talking crazy.’

The video was posted by Arnette last week and subsequently went viral on TikTok after it was shared by another user over the weekend.

The move to waive Arnette comes less than a week after twelfth-overall pick Henry Ruggs III was released following a fatal DUI crash last week. Authorities said Ruggs was driving 156 mph with a blood-alcohol level twice the legal limit in Nevada. He faces multiple felonies and jail time if convicted.

General manager Mike Mayock called it a ‘painful decision’ to release Arnette on Monday but explained it was a necessary response to one of several off-field problems involving the 25-year-old. Arnette is also being sued over a hit-and-run accident from 2020.

Besides the situations with Ruggs and Arnette, the team’s head coach Jon Gruden stepped down in October after old emails surfaced in which he used racist language to describe NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith, who is African American. He also referred to commissioner Roger Goodell using homophobic terms.
