Nogales Station Border Patrol agents working at the Interstate 19 Immigration Checkpoint disrupted two attempts to smuggle dangerous narcotics into the United States yesterday.

Thursday afternoon, agents referred a transportation shuttle for immigration inspections on the passengers. During the inspection, agents discovered a 19-year-old pregnant female attempting to smuggle nearly 295 grams of fentanyl pills inside her body, putting not only her life at risk but that of her unborn child.

Later that day, at approximately 10:30 p.m., agents referred a 31-year-female driver of a Nissan Sentra to secondary inspection after a K-9 alerted to the vehicle. A search resulted in the discovery of over seven kilograms of methamphetamine, 5 kilograms of cocaine, 36 kilograms of heroin, and just under a half kilogram of fentanyl concealed in the floor boards.

Agents arrested both U.S. citizen women, who face federal prosecution for narcotics smuggling.
