Metro Police Arrest Sixteen Students After Fight at John Overton High School

A total of 16 students were arrested by police in the incident between male students of Latino and Kurdish descent, according to a Metro police tweet.

Fourteen of the students were juveniles and two were adults, according to Michelle Michaud, district spokeswoman.

The school was placed on what the district calls a “lockout” at about 11 a.m., Michaud said. During a “lockout,” school activity continues, outside doors are locked and limited traffic is allowed in and out of the school, according to Metro Schools.

A Metro police spokesman didn’t immediately have details Tuesday afternoon about the incident.
