Reuters, June 23, 2015

Amazon.com Inc became the latest big retailer to decide to pull Confederate flag merchandise from its website, a source told Reuters on Tuesday, just hours after eBay Inc said it would take similar action after last week’s racially-motivated massacre at a historically black South Carolina church.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc/ and Sears Holdings Corp on Monday said they would prohibit the sale of Confederate flags and related merchandise in their stores and from their websites.

A search on Amazon’s website on Tuesday found thousands of Confederate flags and merchandise like T-shirts and knives bearing the flag’s image.

A search on online auction site eBay’s website on Tuesday found thousands of Confederate flags and merchandise including clothing and smartphone cases bearing the flag’s image on its marketplace.
