Texas Governor: Since Jan. 1, ‘We Have Had More Than 20,000 People Come Across the Border’

Susan Jones, CNS News, February 23, 2015

“We all saw what happened on the Texas border last summer, but we need to understand that the problem is not going away,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott told CBS’s “Face the Nation” with Bob Schieffer on Sunday.

“Already this calendar year, since January 1, we have had more than 20,000 people come across the border, apprehended, unauthorized. And so we have an ongoing problem on the border that Congress must step up and solve.”

Schieffer reminded Abbott that there are some 800,000 illegal aliens living in Texas right now. “You don’t have enough buses to send them back to Mexico, and I don’t expect you can put all of them in jail. What are you going to do with them?” he asked Abbott.

“Well, two things,” the governor responded. “One is, the president himself said as these people were coming across the border that he would repatriate them as soon as possible. So, we need to see whether or not the president himself is going to live up to the commitment that he made.”

Abbott said as governor, he has outlined a plan to secure the border: “I’m going to add more than 500 more Department of Public Safety officers, more Texas Rangers, more technology. We are coming out of our own pocket, Texas taxpayers’ pockets, to secure the border and doing the job that the federal government must do.

Abbott filed a lawsuit on behalf of 26 states challenging President Obama’s decision to go around Congress by unilaterally giving millions of illegal immigrants permission to temporarily stay in the U.S. and get Social Security numbers so they can work here as well.

A federal judge recently put Obama’s plan on hold, and Abbott said he expects the case to “continue through the court process all the way to the Supreme Court.”

Abbott said it is “essential” to win on constitutional grounds, “because what we have here is a situation where the president has violated the rule of law and really contradicted the Constitution by actually making up the law and imposing his own standards on the immigration system.”

This reminds me of the situation with Arizona; the DOJ spending taxpayer $$$ to bring lawsuits against the state for dealing with the illegal invasion (and resultant crime & welfare costs), instead of using that $$$ to protect the border and US citizens! Whatever happened there? Now Texas will also attempt to handle the invasion—will they also be sued by the feds?

Somebody wake me up when they start allowing Caucasian Europeans to immigrate to America again…

    • Bossman

The U.S. legal immigration system has made it extremely difficult for ordinary Europeans to come to the USA legally. The people benefiting most from present immigration policy are East Asians because there are more of them than anybody else.

      • superlloyd

Nonsense. Immigration policy includes illegals as well as legal immigration. Obola has made that painfully clear. We know who most benefits and it’s not East Asians.

      • stedman holder

Enough of your pro-illegal Mexican non-sense, you and your brothers are here to steal and leech, nothing more. You are afraid intelligent Asians will replace your sub-human family members.

        • Bossman

Where in my post is there anything about illegal immigration? FYI: Before 1965, Europeans and Mexicans were the top in numbers for legal immigration.

          • stedman holder

Your whole agenda is based on illegal immigration and free stuff. Mexico is a failure and rather than try to improve it , you seek to destroy America through laziness, corruption and all the other Mexican family values.

        • Bossman

Take a good look at this table for the year 1963 and tell me what you see.

        • Bossman

I wonder how Asians will replace Hispanics sine most Asians want to pass for Hispanics. After they’ve had plastic surgery, they tend to look like Hispanics.

          • Reynardine

Where in God’s name do you get this stuff? Asians definitely want to be Asian.

The inferior indio inside your mind has poisoned any chance of rational discussion with you.

          • Bossman

If Asians want to be Asian, why do so many of them want to come to America?

          • Reynardine

If Hispanics want to be American, why do so many of them want to come to America and never learn the language?

          • stedman holder

Why did you come to America illegally, it certainly wasn’t to work.

          • stedman holder

He is a retarded illegal alien.

          • Reynardine

            You repeated yourself.

      • Reynardine

If Hispanics are SO WONDERFUL, why are they scampering their damp backsides over to the US? Why are their countries pits of depraved rodent-men?

        Stop leeching, leech.

        • archer

That goes for the politicians squandering taxpayer money on them. WE let them get away with it.

    • archer

      Great point.

“Already this calendar year, since January 1, we have had more than
20,000 people come across the border, apprehended, unauthorized.”

So, in not quite two months, 20,000 were apprehended. Meanwhile the ratio of those who do get apprehended is probably about 1 out of 6. Therefore, the real figure of those both apprehended and not is probably 120,000 or about 720,000 per year.

How to get rid of them? Take away the bird feeder. No jobs, no benefits, no “press 2 for Spanish”, no free lunches, no more anchor babies, no ID’s, no licenses, etc.

In other words, stop being a sanctuary country. If you reward them, they will come; if you don’t, they will leave.

To hell with the Judiciary and the will of the Congress, onward the march of Obama’s Marxist agenda.

  • phillyguy

did anyone mention it was George Washington’s birthday yesterday

    • Lawrence Murray

Nah he’s just some dead racist goy

    • bilderbuster

It’s Black History Month so I’m sure a classroom full of kids somewhere learned that he was an evil slave owner and that it was Black slaves who built this nation and Washington tried to steal the credit from them.

      • Nancy

At my kid’s grade school (and we’re the largest system in Georgia), they just wrapped up their Thurgood Marshall unit, and began their study of LBJ yesterday.

Whatever she brings home to “study”, I simply supplement with the rest of the facts the liberal education system leaves out. In the case of LBJ, for example, I will teach my third grader about his comments concerning his “Great Society”: specifically his delighted declaration that “I’ll be having these n*****s voting Democrat for the next two hundred years!”

At least this way, my kid gets a complete education, and not a partial, pro-liberal one.

        • bilderbuster

It’s a shame that has to be done but you must get some sense of satisfaction subverting the system.
With LBJ there are so many “fun facts” that government schools neglect to teach our children, like LBJ’s ability to belt back a fifth of scotch a day or his quaint little habit of barking out orders while sitting on the can.
I especially remember being taught that LBJ won an election by only 87 votes and what an important example that was for us about how every vote counts in a democracy.
It wasn’t until several years later that I learned LBJ was so popular that he inspired many voters to rise up from out of the grave so they could vote for him.

Wasn’t he the guy who invented peanut butter?

  • Truthseeker

Like parasites to a host. Everything our ancestors wanted us to have is being slowly leeched away.

    • Caucasoid88

Hey! It’s OK. I’ll pay for the parasite to stay in my body. He’s a good tapeworm, din do nuffin. Wasn’t his fault. Just my luck, but I’m glad to have it infest my body and destroy my innards.

  • Chip Carver

There are onlyl 12 million of them in the US, right?

    • LeonNJ

Yes. I believe what my local news tells me. Don’t you? They said 12 million back in 1999 and still say that number today. It hasn’t changed in all those years because our border security is very secure. Stop being racist.

  • Ella

We can make the deportation job easier and faster by cutting all benefits to illegals and residents. That could be a start and then, proceed with busing.

  • InAFreeCountry

Texas, the rest of America thanks you for doing the federal government’s job for them.

  • Hammerheart

Just started the hiring process for Border Patrol. I decided this would be preferential towards following up with the LAPD. At least this is a fight I understand and support fully. No more fighting for the ideals of dead documents on foreign land for this one.

    • SentryattheGate

Check out National Border Patrol Council’s online site. It is the union of border patrol agents. http://www(DOT)bpunion(DOT)org/ The head of their union urged Americans to help them do their job, by clamoring to Congress about the illegal invaders.

  • H. Leonskoi

The Mexican invasion should be treated as the act of war that it is.

  • Texan1st

Former Gov Rick Perry never did anything about illegal immigration other than ride in boats and pay tough talking lip service to the problem during election years. We’ll see if Gov Greg Abbott backs up his talk with action. After experiencing Rick Perry and coming to realize that his talk never translated into meaningful action, I’m sceptical. We shall see.

  • AndrewInterrupted

Don’t worry, they were all “White” people.

Identify illegal immigrants, and roust them out of their homes, put them on buses and drop them off at the border, not at a town.

When enough of that disruption is publicized, the rest will tend to self-deport.

Suggestion. Cut off their public assistance. Kick their spawn out of public schools. Arrest anyone who employs or rents to an illegal and sentence them to a minimum 20 years hard labor. In the future, illegal border crossers will be shot on sight and their bodies left where they fall as a warning.
