Wary NYPD Cops Letting Minor Crimes Slide

Larry Celona et al., New York Post, December 29, 2014

With cops on edge following the assassination of two patrol officers on a Brooklyn street, many officers have started turning a blind eye to some minor crimes, sources told The Post, while a union mandate that two patrol cars respond to all police calls has led to slower response times to non-emergencies.

“I’m not writing any summonses. Do you think I’m going to stand there so someone can shoot me or hit me in the head with an ax?” One cop said Sunday, referring to the Dec. 20 slayings and another recent attack on the NYPD.

“I’m concerned about my safety,” the cop added. “I want to go to home to my wife and kids.”

An NYPD supervisor noted, “My guys are writing almost no summonses, and probably only making arrests when they have to–like when a store catches a shoplifter.”

And the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association directive for cops to respond with at least two patrol cars has resulted in a manpower shortage that’s delaying response times to non-emergencies–such as burglaries or car crashes without injuries–to as much as four hours, sources said.

Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton predicted a long, cold war between Mayor Bill de Blasio and the NYPD’s rank and file Sunday, while admitting that morale among cops was so low, the problem could no longer be denied.

{snip}

On NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Bratton said he was hoping to sit down with police union leaders this week, but conceded that tensions between cops and de Blasio weren’t likely to ease soon.

“I think it’s probably a rift that is going to go on for a while longer,” he said.

{snip}

Bratton condemned the thousands of cops who turned their backs on a live video feed of de Blasio’s eulogy for slain Officer Rafael Ramos during his funeral Saturday in Queens.

{snip}

A recently retired cop who attended the funeral also noted that police from around the country joined in the stunning display of resentment toward de Blasio.

“It’s a national protest against the mayor of New York,” the ex-cop said.

“Mayor de Blasio has lost all respect from men and women of the NYPD, and he will never get it back. Anything he tries to do now is going to be perceived as phony.”

The NY police always refused to recognize, at least publically, black hate crimes when the victims were White. How many times were we told that knock-out game victims were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Guess what officer, Whites want to go home to their wives and kids too.

    • Sick of it

Beat cops don’t make such determinations. As always, it’s the politicians at the top who betray us. Beat cops follow policy or they leave.

    • benvad

How do they like them apples now?

    • dave

The hate crime charge comes from the D.A. not the cop on the street.

    • Cid Campeador

Same thing in every city. According to the Wichita PD, there was no evidence of a racial component in the atrocities committed by the Carr brothers because one of them had a White girlfriend. What fools they think we are!!!!!!!!
He was probably holding his “girlfriend” hostage while giving her drugs and beating her periodically.
      NO race in Knoxville either.

      • Germanic Depressive

A black male having a white female as his toy doesn’t do anything to prove he doesn’t hate whites. Him doing so is entirely consistent with him hating whites.

For a lot of them, it is just another way to express that very hatred.

By being with a white female he gets the thrill of defiling something he knows he doesn’t deserve, and gets it regularly.

He also gets to mentally smirk every time he sees a white male glance over at him with her in public, and he exults in the feeling of conquest and humiliation that he gets from doing this to every white male who sees them together, or at least a very high percentage of them.

He’s also locking her up during her fertile years and preventing her from having any white children. He may even be seeing to it that she has black children instead.

And that’s one of the most harmful things that can be done from our perspective as whites, because even if that white woman had a brother or sister or parents who may have come over to being realists, now that possibility is almost completely destroyed because how can they possibly embrace our way of thinking (aka acknowledging reality) while having a black nephew, grandson, etc.?

        • Pathfinder75

Your comment perfectly captures the true essence of interracial relationships involving black men and White women.

          An instant commenting classic!

          Bravo!

        • Chris R

I remember speaking with a former black friend of mine. He said that if he became well off he would hire a white maid. In his mind this would be some form of revenge. I am no longer friends with this person..

      • Alucard_the_last

The Knoxville murders were also ignored by the national media and wasn’t called a hate crime because ONE of the negroes had ONE white friend.

      • Pathfinder75

“He was probably holding his ‘girlfriend’ hostage while giving her drugs and beating her periodically.”

Plying their White “girlfriends” with mind-altering drugs is the ONLY way that black (and Hispanic) men can have any chance of attaining them, because if White females were to seriously assess the wisdom of entering into such “relationships”,to the fullest extent of their cognitive abilities, they would realize the undeniably hopeless and self-destructive nature of “dating” or even,God forbid, marrying them.

      • Vyncennt

“there was no evidence of a racial component in the atrocities committed by the Carr brothers because one of them had a White girlfriend. ”

I assume, by this logic, that whites who claim to have a black friend can no longer be called racist?

  • It is my understanding, from being an every day reader of my biggest fan (Nicholas Stix), that the NYPD has been doing this for a long time, even during the heralded Giuliani “broken windows” era.

    • Epiminondas

I read the same article. The NYPD is basically a PC operation. They get all ticked off because they don’t always get their browny points. But honestly, do the idiots who want to become policemen in this crazed racial atmosphere have any idea what kind of disaster they’re walking into? And if they do know, but go right ahead and do this stuff anyway, it’s their problem. Not mine. They are essentially the foot soldiers for the far left in this nation.

      • Xerxes22

Money is a big incentive to join the NYPD. The staring pay isn’t that high, but after a few years on the job and with OT, a cop an make a good buck. After twenty years,he can retire with a nice pension. Now days, that might not be enough.

        • PvtCharlieSlate

Also, after a few years on the job, he can quit and move to the suburbs and get hired in some upscale commuter town.

          • Xerxes22

That is often the plan. Stick it out for twenty years, then get your fat juicy pension and move to a more civilized saver area.

    Title reads:
Wary NYPD Cops Letting Minor Crimes Slide”

    Title on Drudge reads:

The New York Post‘s title is correct. In this case, Drudge’s title is NOT.

“Wary NYPD Cops Letting Minor Crimes Slide”

“Wary NYPD Cops Letting Minority Criminals Slide”
      Fixed

  • DaveMed

I suspect that Blacks are going to be more likely to get away with “minor crimes” than Whites are.

    Black Privilege.

    • Reynardine

How many did Eric Garner get before he got goodified? 30+? I can’t imagine what this is going to do to petty crime in NY.

      Goodbye, Guliani’s New York.

    • SentryattheGate

Yes, because it’s racist to enforce laws on blacks, just like it’s racist to discipline blacks inordinately in schools (says Obama and Holder)!

    • Brady

Because in white neighborhoods, people call the cops when they see you fighting, shoplifting, selling drugs on a busy street corner, spray painting graffiti on buildings. You can even get the cops called on you for playing loud music late at night. In the hood it’s called “snitching”, and it’s one of the most dishonorable things you could do.

    • Ron Jeremy

Your right, but blacks are also going to feel the wrath of all these minor crimes. I wouldnt want to be in some of these neighborhoods knowing the police arent going to arrest people breaking the law. You are about to hear about blacks being shot by black homeowners.

      • WhiteVeinKratom

“You are about to hear about blacks being shot by black homeowners.”

        We can only hope.

      • bilderbuster

Am I supposed to get upset by that?

      • Charles Martel

More likely blacks will be further emboldened to prey on hipsters and other “gentrifiers” moving into their neighborhoods. I see falling rents in Brooklyn soon as crime spirals out of control.

    • Alucard_the_last

Oh you better believe it and 100% of the crimes will be ignored by the national media.

  • TruthBeTold

If you want to know how to contact drug dealers and prostitutes, ask the guy selling loosies.

The low-level criminals are the portal to other crime.

This is why crime in black neighborhoods gets out of control. They won’t deal with the little stuff which only becomes bigger stuff.

    • benvad

I’d encourage the cops not to protect rich liberals homes in Manhattan and let them get a taste of the diversity they want to expose regular whites to.

      • Alucard_the_last

When I lived in NYC, I advocated building public housing on the Upper East and West Sides. They were the ones who build public housing in East NY, Brooklyn turning it into one of the worst neighborhoods on the entire eastern seaboard. It is time for rich liberals to experience what the working class is subject to. I think that Martha’s Vineyard would be another great place to build public housing and then weed out the worst negroes in Mass. and move them there.

        • benvad

A person after own heart and mind! You should be knighted for these ideas.

  • AmericanCitizen

When democracy fails it collapses into mob rule (for a bit, then comes the strongman). I always thought that America was too strong and too “law and order” for that to happen here. I couldn’t see a way that mob rule and street violence would take precedence – but in the second half of 2014 now the path has revealed itself. As the media and Lib/Prog politicians advance the anti-police agenda we’ll see more stories like this.

Because police departments hire more and more unqualified minority applicants to appease “diversity” the professionalism will disappear and we’ll have either (A) lazy cops who won’t bother to take dispatch calls, or (B) a bit of “payback” from minority cops who will ironically use their job as a way to stick to “the man”. This is the big first step towards the crumbling of Law and Order.

Think about it: do you think that the way things are now, and the way they’re headed, spells prosperity and safety for the future?

    • SentryattheGate

A recently graduated woman cop told me that the white men cadets were the only ones not getting jobs; the diversity hires were getting almost all of the job offers!

  • Luca

If De Blasio ever needs the police during a critical moment, as he as about to become a victim of crime, I hope the cops pull a Serpico stunt on him.

  • dd121

I just wonder, if someone were trying to do harm to NY’s communist mayor, would the police promptly respond?

    • my dime is that they’d be there in 4 hours.

  • MartelsGhost

Oh well. I always liked the dirty violent NY that smelled of stale piss and fear anyway. The new Disney 42nd street is just creepy. It takes an iron hand to run the asylum and keep the inmates away from visitors and staff. Now it’s just Safari Park rules for everyone, Police included. Of course wealthy people can afford armored limos, chauffeurs and private security and so they won’t notice but the workaday stiffs? Well all that liberal nonsense is about to kill that city and this time there aren’t any Police who want to come help………………………

    • benvad

They’ll get what the deserve, finally. The ironic part is all those lefty liberals will move to Texas and make a mess out of there in no time.

      • MartelsGhost

Every state in the South has been run over by a whole new generation of carpet baggers.

It’s enough to make a man water his beard when he hears all those waitresses start asking if I want unsweetened or sweet tea? If? IF?! As if there’s any other option besides sweet.

Fortunately all it takes is a few trips to the range, a good 4×4 and a year of warm weather at Christmas to change most yankeefied outlooks on life and the South in general. I have enjoyed hearing my neighbors from Boston gradually start to include more twang. “Hey any ya’ll gwat a qwaater?” Being one of my favorites…………………….always looking for a handout those yanks.

The death knell of those one proud Northern town spell impending doom for all of us in the South. That same knell sounded throughout the South after the War of Northern Aggression and then again after the 1st World War as millions of blacks left the South to find industrial jobs up North. Now that the coakroaches have picked the cities clean they will scurry back to home they once knew and try to gorge themselves until they are finally eradicated.

Buy ammo. Practice often. Pray daily.
        Good luck.

        • I don’t like sugar in my tea. I’m also a snap at estimating ranges.

          • MartelsGhost

Well of course you’re in Mr. Scott. We always need a good orc in the fight. And I’m not saying there is anything wrong with unnatural…unsweetened tea. It is a beverage of choice for many of those in the North.

Just bums me out when I hear it at the restaurants around town………………didn’t used to be like that…………………….get off my lawn……………long sigh

          • Mary

I agree. Unsweetened tea tastes like metallic-flavored water. Sugar does wonders. Even my Northern-born husband now agrees.

          • I love iced tea, but don’t drink hot tea. I like coffee, black and unsweetened, just shy of scalding. We make iced tea here using ma cha, which gets boiled overnight. I don’t even put sugar in lemonade.

          • Mary

No sugar in lemonade, now that’s impressive! Sugar for me is an unfortunate addiction.

          • Epiminondas

Sugar can cause severe health problems, from diabetes to intestinal fungus. Use with caution.

          • MartelsGhost

There is a type of tea named after an Irish Goddess of War?

No sugar in the Lemonade? But that’s…………..how do you………………wow. It just leaves me speechless.

Don’t care for hot tea at all.

Like my coffee same as you but with a pinch of salt thrown in the pot.

Boiled overnight? Who has to mind the stove all night?

        • Epiminondas

I’m Southern going back to the 17th century (Deep South) and I prefer unsweetened tea.

          • MartelsGhost

            The horror…………………………..the horror………………..

            You down in Bayou country?

And I have to ask are you just a fan of Theban Generals as a whole or liberators of Helots in particular?

Always nice to meet another 17’er. My family got here in 1635 but did’t find their way South for a few years.

          • Epiminondas

            Pleased to meet you.

          • MartelsGhost

            Likewise.

        • Sid Ishus

          How does one “Unsweeten” tea?

          • WhiteVeinKratom

Have a liberal stir your glass with their finger………….?

      • Charles Martel

Liberal New Yorkers look down their noses at Texas. New Hampshire or Vermont is a more likely destination for them.

    • I have an armoured car & it’s great [paid for by company]. Of course I’m living in Brazil for the next 2 years.

      • MartelsGhost

        Scary thoughts.

My fear is a whole new crop of PC Social Justice Warriors being recruited to wear the shield in what will be a trial run of the Civilian Corps that Obama spoke of back in 08 or 09.

  • Epiminondas

The silly voters of New York are getting precisely the kind of government they voted for and deserve.

    • Hy Alldredge

You know, everybody says that anytime DeBlasio does something stupid, which is always, and I’m getting tired of it. The people that voted for him deserve it but what about those if us who didn’t? Seems like people are gloating in the potential downfall of this city but I live here and I’m sure not. I moved here in the end of the Giuliani years and I have a steady job, I live in a decent neighborhood, I have a wife, and a life. I don’t want to be driven out by degenerates. This whole situation pisses me off to no end because these motherf-ers are screwing with a great city and lots of decent people, all for the sake of a bunch of criminal negroes and their pansy white communist enablers.

Sorry to vent. I’m living here watching this happen and what can I do? Vote? Helluva lot of good that did me last year.

      • Ron Jeremy

Your right, you and others like you are the forgotten ones. I feel sorry for people like yourself. I know you dont want to, but the only solution is to leave. Hopefully things will change for you.

      • Epiminondas

At some point, you need to face facts and get out of there. By the way, DeBlasio was born “Warren Wilhelm, Jr.”. Why did he change his name?

        • Hy Alldredge

Oh, I’m facing facts, but I’m taking a wait and see attitude. I have confidence that New York can survive four years of this commie buffoon. If somehow people are stupid enough to elect him to a second term I’ll consider my options, especially if things noticeably deteriorate where I live and work. I don’t give a damn if they start shooting each other up in Bed Stuy and East New York. My wife used to work in the South Bronx but luckily she got transferred to downtown Manhattan so no worries there. Fortunately we rent and there’s no way I’m buying property any time soon, so bugging out with be simple enough if it becomes necessary.

He probably changed his name so it didn’t sound too German. Nazi associations, you know.

          • Epiminondas

There is always something sneaky about people who change their names for political purposes.

          • bilderbuster

            True.

        • bilderbuster

          Because Germans disowned him.

      • Charles Martel

I feel you pain! Hoping to move to Maine in the next few years myself.

  • Da Troof

I always thought it was courageous of cops to put their asses on the line to police these hellhole “neighborhoods”. But at this point, it just seems stupid.

    • Bobbala

      Dammed if you do …

    • blanjm5

Lots of decent people live in the hellholes. They deserve protection, too.

      • Da Troof

Those people vote near unanimously for a party that supports criminal coddling, disarmament of law abiding citizens, and rollback of strong self defense laws.

        • blanjm5

A prudent observation. I stand corrected (and now wonder why I go to work everyday).

          • ghettovalley

Judging by the current events going on around the country, it doesn’t seem like your efforts are appreciated all that much by the inner-city community. It must feel like a spit in the face to put your life on the line for such an ungrateful group of people who appear to fiercely and violently hate you.

        • Charles Martel

And refuse to “snitch” on the criminals in their midst.

  • LHathaway

I’ve seen this in other big cities. Police officers ignoring minor infractions. Is this right or wrong. Do we want our police to be like television’s’ Barney Fife? As far as NYC is concerned, could this be considered a return to a pre-Guiliani era? Anyone know?

    • Xerxes22

Barney Fife was a very gung ho cop. It was sheriff Andy Taylor who always had to rein in Barney and keep him under control.

      • bilderbuster

        Mayberry was all White too.

    • Hy Alldredge

I live in New York and I doubt it. Blacks have really been driven to the fringes of the city. I moved here after Giuliani but I know lifelong residents and they tell me what it was like before. All of Manhattan south of Harlem is completely gentrified, and even parts of Harlem. Parts of Brooklyn and Queens close to Manhattan are completely different. There are tons of new developments, lots of complaints about the poor being “driven out” which nobody listens to. The dangerous parts are hard to get to and there’s no reason any normal person needs to go there. The ghetto blacks have actually moved out to inner ring suburbs, which makes relocating more difficult for whites.

There’s also the massive influx of tourism dollars that’s dependent on the city being safe. You think the people that get rich off that will want their source of income gone?

Basically I don’t think there’s any way the changes brought on by the previous administrations will be undone in four years. I’m assuming Willhelm will be a one term wonder, and the 75% of the city that sat out the last election will wise up and we’ll get somebody same again. If the city is insane enough to reelect him, all bets are off.

      • Charles Martel

So true. Walk along the High Line when the weather improves. Not a black family in sight! Same for Central Park near the Met or Lincoln Center.

        • Hy Alldredge

Do you know of any alt-right or white nationalist groups in NYC that hold meetings or do social events?

      • Not being a NY’er, however, your comment seems to be the most probable to me.

  • ViktorNN

De Blasio thought he could play along with the media/ruling elite narrative of creating a lynch mob atmosphere towards the police for deaths for which they are entirely blameless.

De Blasio should be ashamed, and should resign frankly. He does not deserve the respect of the NYPD, and he is obviously unfit and too incompetent to lead.

    • I suspect when NY voters realize de Blasio is presiding over a downturn in their actual living conditions due to his having politicized law-enforcement, they will not reelect him.

  • Yves Vannes

This has been going on for decades. It`s called `defining deviancy down`.

  • Germanic Depressive

When you allow a genetically inferior underclass to exist within your society, it’s only a matter of time before the natural reaction to them of distrust and suppression gives way to unfounded sympathy and denial about what they really are.

Once that switch happens, the society effectively denies itself access to the actual explanation for their dysfunction. It is now a forbidden thought, and all explanations that can be entertained (when we aren’t just outright denying the disparity) are some variation of it being the majority group’s fault.

We have taken an unevolved, violent, stupid subspecies and amplified their destructive power many times over by turning them into the ultimate group of spoiled children with a full deck of race cards and other excuses to play whenever consequences or expectations rear their ugly heads, which we’ve made sure is rare for them to begin with.

Now, in this story we see another in the endless list of examples of how pandering to these “people” is dragging the rest of us, and our society, down to their level.

Treating them differently will always happen because they quite simply ARE different, in very important ways. The only question is whether that different treatment will be harsh and reflect their inferiority, or will it be pampering and deference which also reflects their inferiority, but in a covert way?

I contend that the first will always give way to the second, given enough time. Whether it will revert once things get bad enough remains to be seen. This is why the best solution, and perhaps the only solution, is to just not have them in the society to begin with. They are a huge weight clamped around our ankles.

    • Epiminondas

Beginning to understand Jim Crow laws?

      • Germanic Depressive

Yep, I do. I grew up thinking “omg horrible white racists!” when reading/hearing about stuff like Jim Crow.

Now I get it. Blacks had the same inherent nature then that they do now. Stupid, violent, societally corrosive.

The harsh realities of what they are require harsh measures to control. Harsh measures look bad to pampered, misled, decadent people like we’ve become.

  • Alucard_the_last

Does this surprise anyone? This is really going to hurt the negroid community as the police will be ignoring negro crimes the most, esp. negro on negro crime. I’m sure we’ll hear the eternal whine. They will reap what they sow.

  • Mack0

The left wants crime to be ignored. They have completely abandoned the idea that blacks are capable of behaving and following the same rules as everyone else. Instead they have chosen to move the goal post. The point of the disparate impact movement is to change the rules for blacks. Change the rules and you created the illusion that crime is down. Holder is one of the main pushers of changing the rules.

  • Lkoehn

Let ALL black on black crime slide. They don’t want cops in their face all the time let them live with their own criminals. Investigate black on white crime with attention to detail and elevate the arrests made for it. It wont take long for one to decrease and the other to increase. Let blacks be persecuted by their own kind until they wake up to the fact that acting black is not so cool after all and perhaps then they will open up to changing who and what they are. And yes it would be tragic for the good suffering with bad as they are not all bad but blacks must change the people who supposedly speak for them and have caused the mess that they are in.

  • Elba

NO do not let the minor crimes slide! Cleaning up the small timers is how Guiliani CLEANED UP NY!! Remember how savage and violent NYC and the Bronx was up to the 90s?? Guiliani demanded: “arrest all the toll jumpers” that bit of advice literally turned NYC around from a sh!t hole to a gentrified safe and grand city. He used the “broken window” theory- if you let small things slide then big things will slide too. You MUST nip all crime in the bud!

  • Magician

It just appeared on CNET ( a famous tech news portal )

    cnet[dot]com/news/scalper-buys-650-of-the-interview-tickets-now-wants-refund

    and I admire this comment

“The response was as positive as the movie’s reviews in the Pyongyang Post.”

    • My sister used to scalp concert tickets, but I am having trouble feeling sorry for that individual. One of the hazards of being an entrepeneur is that one may lose money.

      • Magician

$650 is not a lot to begin with. And why is it on CNET? Must have been a slow news day in the high tech world. My uncle told us that his friend lost $1000 after he betted it on the Baltimore Orioles to win game 4 of the American League Championship series 2014. This Ohio man, named Jason Best, should simply suck it up, take a valuable lesson from it and keep his eye on for his next possible business opportunity. As you stated, being an entrepreneur means sometimes you will lose money, and if one loses money he should understand and move on. At least he tried.

  • bilderbuster

I’ll bet the majority of cops in NYC vote Democrat.

  • Charles Martel

And has kowtowed to Al Sharpton throughout his term in office. Cops tend not to be the smartest guys (in my experience as someone who works in Midtown) but they’re not THAT stupid.

  • Pick out all the whites in NY and jump their taxes 100K. Nobody will complain much and it’ll cover the loss of the $50 traffic tickets quite handily.

  • why can’t he just fire them and open up the entire police force to affirmative action hires?
