Nigel Farage Calls on Government to Let Syrian Refugees Into UK

Guardian (London), December 29, 2013

Nigel Farage is calling on the government to start admitting refugees fleeing the fighting in Syria into Britain.

The Ukip leader, who has been at the forefront of the opposition to allowing migrants from Bulgaria and Romania unfettered access to the UK, said the position of those displaced by conflict was very different.

“I think refugees are a very different thing to economic migration and I think that this country should honour the spirit of the 1951 declaration on refugee status that was agreed,” he told BBC News.

“It was agreed with the UN and even through the European court, which sadly has changed its role. But the original ideas of defining what a refugee is were good ones.

“I think actually there is a responsibility on all of us in the free west to try and help some of those people in Syria fleeing literally in fear of their lives.”

The government has rejected calls to admit Syrian refugees, arguing that it is better to provide financial support to people in the region.

Farage’s intervention came after the three main party leaders–David Cameron, Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg–last week issued a rare joint statement backing the United Nations’ £4bn appeal for assistance.

So Farage is a shill. Next ?

  • Marc Zuckurburg

Why not let them into America, too?

We need the best and the brightest. (Just keep them away from San Francisco and Israel.)

I think Nigel should change his last name to “Farrago”. The Syrians are the last people anybody should be accepting as refugees. Even if a particular person swears he’s Christian, we’re dealing with lying Muslims here. Look at the Tsarnaevs and the Boston Marathon bombing – they were allowed in as refugees. The younger bomber brother was even granted U.S. citizenship about 6 months before setting the bombs. I wonder whose agenda he is really pushing?

I wonder whose agenda he is really pushing?

Name me a country that rhymes with “Ishmael”.

(Sorry, Stewball and Engelman, couldn’t resist the temptation.)

Why do you presume Farage is doing Israel’s bidding here? It makes no sense at all.

I could post a few intriguing links, but then my comment would be summarily deleted. Try googling “Danny Danon Jerusalem Post Australia” and click the first link. If white genocide were detrimental to the Zionist cause, they wouldn’t be pushing it so hard.

Ethnic Syrians, who generally speak Syriac or Aramaic languages, have some of the oldest Christian communities in the world. It’s not a matter of recent converts. If there is no other choice, I would settle them in another Christian country (and deport its Muslims instead). However, it would be preferable for them to retain their own land. Arabs and Turks have plenty of countries of their own. They don’t need to ethnically cleanse Syria and Lebanon too.

      • jeffaral

Following your twisted logic, what about christian Ethiopians who were among the first Christians.? I say keep them out!

        • Andy

First, Syrians would assimilate to European countries better than Amharics would. Syrians and Indo-Europeans separated *maybe* ten thousand years ago and have had considerable blood exchange, while Amharics and Indo-Europeans separated not long after the first migrations out of Africa. Second, as I stated above, my preference would be that they stay in their own land. Third, I do not object to small numbers of foreigners within a country, especially if they are reasonably similar in heritage. The Christian world, which includes the Americas, Australia, and parts of India and Africa as well as Europe, could absorb the Syrians who fled, which would be under a million. We just need to make sure that England is say 90% English and that most of the non-English come from similar countries.

    Another filthy traitor.

His head should be on a stick with all the other treacherous filth.

Why only “some” of “these” people? Why not “all” of “every” people? This really is the “camp of saints” fallacy. Even so, a protest vote for UKIP candidates will send symbolic fireworks up the lower regions of the upper crust.

  • bigone4u

So, every major politician in Britain is on record to take in the “refugees.” Better idea: House them in refugee camps in their own country. Problem solved. With such genius like mine, I need to get into politics, right?

  • RisingReich

I thought this guy was OK, after he gave that scathing anti-Euro speech years ago – and then almost died in a plane crash I swear was meant to silence him.

    So much for that…..

    • Franklin_Ryckaert

He is controlled opposition. His task is to gather all protest votes and then lead them to nothing. He is socalled against the EU and its policy of the freedom of Europeans to settle anywhere in Europe, such as Bulgarians and Rumanians in Britain, but he never said anything against non-European immigration. Now his real intentions have become clear. Briefly his policy is : less white immigration, more non-white immigration. In short, the bastard is anti-white.

He should be thrown out of government and arrested. This type of behavior will continue in western countries until politicians are held accountable for their actions and crimes, especially career politicians. Ted Kennedy singlehandedly destroyed much of what was good about America; not to mention he literally got away with murder.

No, water balloons filled with stinky liquids. Or if that’s not enough, tar and feathered. Our people used to tar and feather traitors.

  • M.

Those who want to end immigration in Britain should for the real nationalist parties. UKIP is too soft and color-blind on the issue.

  • Chris Granzow XI

When he went to great lengths to distance himself from the FN I knew something was off about him..

99,99% of all “asylum seekers” are in reality fortune seekers, from the Third World to the First World that is. But Third Worlders create Third World societies, hence it is in our interest to exclude them. They have created their problems themselves, let them try to solve them themselves.

  • JackKrak

I’m for taking refugees and asylum seekers, etc. as long as they are forced to resettle in certain zip/postal codes.

Goodbye Syria, Iraq & Somalia – hello Malibu, Manhattan, Seattle & whatever the UK equivalents are.

  • jackryanvb

I’ve come to the conclusion there is some terrible supernatural curse on White British people since 1945. It has to do with Britain slaughtering tens of thousands of German civilians in Dresden and Hamberg Germany.

Even supposedly “conservative”, “nationalist” White British political leaders like the leader of the UKIP supports genocidal immigration to Britain.

    • saxonsun

What crap. You are conveniently forgetting the Blitz, which came before Dresden. Do you really believe that the British did not have the right to revenge?!!! And the USA ALSO bombed Dresden. I wonder what ax you have to grind. I suppose for you, God’s a Nazi.

Arguing with Hitlerites about WWII is like arguing with blacks and/or liberals about crime statistics.

  • Massif1

Wankers all over EU are literally having a grand time about 3rd world migration. The future of socialism is in the hands of individuals that believe the government is suppose to pay them to do nothing.

Does anyone know if any West European country is disclosing information about immigrants on welfare? Just imagine paying almost half of your salary in taxes so that someone else is doing nothing all day.

  • alex

Who needs Romanians? They are worse than Gypsies.

The fact that people are fleeing their own countries as a result of tribal violence is a pretty good argument against letting them or anyone else into your country.

Although I agree that Christians and the Assyrians in particular tend to be much more cohesive in western societies than most third world immigrants.

The problem is that you can’t trust the government to let anyone into your country when your government is openly hostile to you.

Secondly, nobody knows when the violence in Syria is going to end. It may very well never end which means the flow of refugees would never end either, especially when you consider that the U.S. and Israel has a vested interest in the region.

It makes much more sense for Israel, a country that is literally right next door, to take care of these people. At least then the option to go back home would be much more feasible for them if the violence was to ever end.

Plus, we’ve already seen that Israel, unlike any western country, is more than willing to actually pay people to leave their country anyway.

  • jeffaral

There is absolutely no differences among Christian or Muslim Syrians: they are all Arabs!
