Blacks take drugs because they have no SUPER EGO.

Whitney Houston’s mother sang backup for Elvis Presley, Mahalia Jackson and Aretha Franklin, the latter of whom was Whitney’s godmother.   Dionne Warwicke was her cousin.

The idea that she feared a “return” to poverty is just plain silliness.

I should have added in the first place…

If you want to point out that this is another story of a successful black woman, who ruined her life by getting involved with a thug, playa or bad boy, that would be a worthwhile discussion to have.

  • Touré is a clod.

He had a post in a New York Times blog that used the word “Muahahaha.”

I was always taught that the NYT’s news copy was almost on the level with literature.  What is America’s “paper of record” doing publishing onomatopoeic slang in one of its official organs?  What are they doing giving a byline to a conceited clod who goes by a single name, and a name with the “e” accented on top of that?

If anything, using drugs once you get out of poverty is putting you at far greater risk to go back into poverty. Illegal drugs aren’t free, you know!

Granted, Toure’ is an intellectual lightweight who makes Juan Williams look like Noam Chomsky in comparison.

But can he really ruin the reputation of a paper that has employed Walter Duranty, Herbert Matthews, Jayson Blair, Paul Krugman and countless other slimeballs?

      • You just based Paul Krugman.  Get ready from a beatdown from Engleman.

The answer to your question is definitely not.  But at least Walter Duranty, while covering up mass graves and mass murder in the Soviet Union, never used “Muahahaha.”

Beware any man egomaniacal enough to go by one name only.  For those who have a memory for the inconvenient however, you will recall that Whitney Houston was unequivocally embraced by the white masses and lavish with praise, Grammies, and a movie with Kevin Costner. It was black America who began the process of tearing her down, calling her a “sellout” and an “oreo.”

Whitney was so stung by the barbs that she flung herself into the arms of the first black man to appear who promised to remake her as his ingenue. This charismatic African-American knight in shining armor proved to be none other than Bobby Brown, recently fired from boy-band supergroup “New Edition.” He is the one who introduced her to hard drugs.

Still, despite her being led astray by Bobby Brown, I am sure it is somehow the white man’s fault. Perhaps Toure can help properly apportion blame in his next television appearance.

Blacks only do things that are wrong, because they are victims in everything.

Only someone brilliant like Lawrence O’Donnell knows that, along with every black in existence today.

I’m surprised they didn’t blame it on racism two hundred years ago.  You know, they do it just to ease the pain inflicted on them by the white man?

Liking it and having the money to get high every day of the year has nothing to do with it.

On second thought, watching Toure even attempt to race-bait with the likes of Al Sharpton in the room is insulting. He should know he can never upstage the original Jedi master.

    •  Jedi master? Sith lord is more like it. Talk about the dark side!

Alexandra, your problem is you’re using “white” logic and therefore making too much sense.

If you had African logic you would spend your last dollar on drugs/booze/gambling because you were afraid of going broke!

  • Anything EXCEPT personal responsibility.

  • A middle aged  drug addict finally succeeded to die. And this was, I suppose, a relatively easy death- no suffocation from throat cancer, no painful death from scleroderma, Kaposi sarcoma, …

Three months ago an immensely more important person died & hardly anyone noticed -apart from the informed community : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis_Ritchie

But- what can one expect from this state of moronized mind:  http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/horrible-reactions-to-chris-brown-at-the-grammys

  • Just a side remark: I didn’t read/listen much about Whitney Houston’s death, but one thing struck me as bizarre: everyone booohooed that she was “young”. My goodness, she was 48 yrs old. Generally, youth is under 20; then comes mature adulthood in 3 or 4 periods- middle adulthood is somewhere between 40 and 65 & old age begins at 65-70 yrs period.

This has nothing to do with creativity or world importance: Michelangelo, Tolstoy, Plato, Kant, Emerson, Gladstone, Henry Adams, Picasso,.. were great geriatrics.

Just, for druggie pop or rock performers (Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, ..)- 48 is a sort of  advanced senescence.

    • Agreed. (And don’t forget John Bonham, Keith Moon, Jimi Hendrix and John Belushi, among others.) Given Whitney’s long history of drug & alcohol addiction, I was surprised she lived as long as she did.

Mozart’s death at 35 was tragic. Whitney Houston’s death at 48 was overdue.

From what I understand, the reason why Whitney got involved with Bobby Brown is because she wanted to shed her goody two shoes image.

    • At the time, Booby Brown and all the other members of New Edition has the same kind of G2S image.  The key word here is “image,” and as well all know, any relationship between image and reality is purely coincidental.
