The Best Thing Trump Could Do for Women

Trump Supports Women

During the presidential campaign, every prominent feminist accused Donald Trump of being a sexist who would wage “war on women.”  The day after his inauguration we saw The Women’s March, the greatest collective hissyfit in history. However, it is obvious that President Trump will be a better president for women than Hillary Clinton could ever been, and for one simple reason: Muslim immigration is the greatest threat to the freedom and safety of American women, and Donald Trump promises less, while Hillary Clinton promised more.

White women seem to understand this instinctively; Donald Trump won the majority of their votes in the 2016 election, leading to accusations of “violent privilege” from the likes of Lena Dunham. We can judge how Muslim immigration hurts women by looking at Germany, where over one million Muslims have arrived in the last two years.

But before describing the consequence of this influx, let’s look at what didn’t happen. Have Germans discovered any fun, new celebrations that reflect Muslim culture? In America, you don’t need to be Irish to enjoy getting drunk and wearing green on St. Patrick’s Day. Have Germans started whooping it up for Eid al Fitr and Laylat al Kadr?

Have Muslims brought new art forms? Exciting musical genres? Charming customs? The wisdom of the East? Scientific insights? Not that we’ve heard of. And there have been Muslim Turks in Germany for generations who have not brought any detectable forms of “enrichment,” beyond creating an enormous underclass of welfare recipients.

So what have they brought? Everyone heard about the 2015/2016 New Year’s Eve attacks in the square outside the Cologne train station, but Cologne wasn’t the only city targeted by Muslim invaders. According to German authorities, 1,200 women were sexually assaulted by 2,000 men on that one night. In Hamburg, there were 236 sexual assaults. Women in Düsseldorf reported 296. As feminists note, sex crimes often go unreported, so the real numbers are probably even higher.

The attacks followed a similar pattern: Thirty or 40 men would surround a lone woman, or maybe two or three. The inner circle of men raped or groped the victims, and sometimes robbed them. The outer circle blocked what was happening from view and fended off anyone who tried to stop the attack. In Muslim countries, this kind of attack is so common, it has a name: taharrush.

Police initially tried to hush up the crimes, and it wasn’t until the discovery of a leaked police document six months later that the public learned the scale of the attacks. We may never have heard about them at all if they weren’t so widespread and public.

Just this week we saw reports on the case of a German girl raped by a (probably Muslim) refugee from Ghana, while her boyfriend was forced to watch.

While Germany is struggling with a recent and enormous influx of non-European migrants, Sweden has seen a steady flow of Muslims since it threw open its borders in the 1970s. Today, Sweden is home to half a million Muslims, despite having a total population of only 9.5 million.

Sweden also has one of the highest rape rates in the world. This is explained partly by Sweden’s laws, which define rape broadly and count separate acts of intercourse as separate rapes. Also, since Sweden is so feminist, women there may be more likely to report when they are raped. International comparisons are often difficult, but there is no doubt that Muslims have brought a plague of rape to Sweden — and Nigel Farage is now under investigation for pointing this out on British television.

As in Germany, there are women in Sweden who are brave enough to speak up:

Likewise, no one should forget Rotherham, England where, for 15 years, authorities covered up the systematic exploitation and rape of around 1400 young English girls, some as young as 12. In at least two cases, fathers of victims were, themselves, arrested when they tried to take their daughters away from houses where they were being raped.

There have been similar “grooming” schemes by Muslim — and similar unwillingness of the authorities to take action — uncovered in many British cities.

Rape isn’t the only problem Muslims bring. Wherever they go, Muslim women cover their bodies for religious reasons. Whether by hijab, burqa, niqab, or abaya, Islam decrees that it is sinful for them to do otherwise. That view is completely contrary to feminism.

Feminists say women should be free to dress as they please, and not be ashamed of their bodies or enslaved to “patriarchal” norms. But there is no culture that enforces patriarchal power over women more than Islam.

This past November, America elected its first female Muslim politician. How many more politicians will we get who believe women should not go out in public without a covered head?

There is much talk of how Donald Trump has “normalized” various kinds of bigotry. But doesn’t the presence of covered-up Muslim women “normalize” the view that men should tell women what they can wear? Regardless of how one feels about liberal American social norms, it seems like a stark contradiction for self-described feminists to support increased Islamic migration. But it seems that way only because the feminism of the baby boomers is all-but dead.

Wherever Muslims go, they try to increase their numbers and take political power. They understand that demography is destiny. The increasing population of Muslims in the West can only lead to less freedom for women. And yet, institutions that claim to stand for the rights of women, and vocal “feminist” activists continue to call for more Muslim refugees.

If there were such a thing as honest feminism (beyond the lonely voices of Camille Paglia and Christina Hoff Sommers), it would oppose of Muslim immigration. And yet, while Donald Trump talked about a temporary ban on Muslim immigration, Hillary Clinton wanted to increase the annual target for Syrian refugees from 10,000 to 65,000.

Even if Muslim violence and oppression of women is therefore not an issue for “feminists,” it is a women’s issue. The contemporary “feminist” left will continue to support increased immigration of non-whites of any religion, not because they care about women, but because “third-wave” feminism cares more about supporting the left’s anti-white agenda than about anything else.

The sudden arrival of large numbers of Syrian supposed refugees would not go any better than it has in Europe. Donald Trump, for all his faults, understands this. Hillary Clinton does not. If Mr. Trump keeps his promises, his administration will be an enormous triumph for American women. We must hold him to his word.
