Illinois Man Indicted Over Alleged Threats in Nolan Wells Case

Porter was charged with one federal count of interstate transmission of a threatening communication for allegedly texting a witness that he would kill the father of Edmiston Jr., according to the complaint. He is also accused of calling a second person and threatening to kill them, cut up their body and throw it in a suitcase.

Edmiston Jr., a former high school teammate of Wells, has faced online speculation about his death, according to Edmiston’s attorney, Russell Latino. Latino told the Associated Press that one of the two family members targeted is a witness in the investigation.

The indictment was returned in August, the Sun Herald reported. The federal charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and up to three years of supervised release.
