Scientist Neil Degrasse Tyson on Why White People Refuse to Admit They’re Actually Black

But the conversation took a profound turn when Sharpe asked Tyson to explain what actually separates Europeans, Asians and Africans, aside from the geographic regions they come from.

“Well, we all came out of Africa,” Tyson quickly replied. “Humans’ origin is in Africa. There is no dispute about that, at all.” The physical evidence backing Tyson’s claim is etched directly into the Earth.

According to the Smithsonian Institution’s Human Origins Program, the fossil record definitively establishes Africa as the birthplace of human species following the discovery of the famed 230,000-year-old Omo Kibish fossils in Ethiopia. Despite that fact, many white people simply refuse to acknowledge their Black roots—and Tyson explained how they manage to do so.
