Man Who Was “Stressed” Before Slaying of Husband Sentenced to Prison

Alberto Ferrer Cabrera was sentenced Friday by Judge Kristina Escalona of the 186th District Court in the death of Donald Atha Weynandt, whom prosecutors identified as Cabrera’s partner and common-law husband, according to the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office.

Cabrera, 26, admitted to the killing on Feb. 1, 2025, telling a 911 dispatcher, his landlord and San Antonio police detectives that he had killed Weynandt. He told authorities he had slashed Weynandt’s throat with a knife.
