Red Dawn in America
Gregory Hood, American Renaissance, August 13, 2024
Red Dawn is a pop culture classic — even if it did ensure John Milius would be blacklisted from Hollywood. Today, it seems strangely relevant. The lessons about the differences between the government and the nation, the importance of initiation, and its faith in ordinary Americans can still stir a conservative’s heart. Yet the nation it portrayed has long since vanished, as demographic change has far worse effects than even a military invasion — and the remake shows it.
