The University of St. Thomas student captured on video shouting at a protester at last week’s Turning Point USA event has issued an apology and withdrawn from the school.
“I want to sincerely apologize for my actions during the situation with the protesters,” the unnamed female student said in a statement. “What I said and did was wrong, and I understand that my actions caused hurt and disappointment. Regardless of the circumstances, I should have handled the situation with respect, and I take full responsibility for my behavior. I am truly sorry.”

The student was with a group of people entering a building at the University of Minnesota where Riley Gaines, a former college swimmer and conservative activist who campaigns against transgender women competing in women’s sports, was scheduled to speak.
At some point, the student tells a protester to “Go back to your own country,” followed by an expletive. The video, posted to Instagram by protester Darnell Edwards, does not show what transpired before the student made the comment.
