15 People Arrested in Long Island Street Takeover, Police Say

Fifteen people under the age of 24 were arrested and seven cars were impounded after an attempted street takeover over the weekend, according to police.

Suffolk County Police officers had caught wind of a potential street takeover planned for Friday night at an unknown location, officials said.

The Street Takeover Task Force monitored the gathering through social media and intelligence collection and deterred the group from “taking over” areas near Commack Road and Sunrise Highway in Islip.
