Self-proclaimed socialist filmmaker Michael Moore took to Twitter to express his excitement after data from the United States Census Bureau revealed a decline in the number of white people in the country.
“From today’s news (8/12/2021): ‘The Census data collected from the 2020 Census was released today — and it revealed that the number of White people in the U.S. has fallen for first time since the first Census was taken in 1790.’ In other words, best day ever in U.S. history,” Moore tweeted.
2020 Census data released Thursday indicated that minorities account for 43 percent of the total U.S. population. In 2010, this number was 34 percent. In the last decade, the adult population has increased to 261 million from 237 million. Within this time frame, the percent of whites decreased by 6 percentage points, as noted by CNN’s Priya Krishnakumar.
