A Queens man who was released without bail after he allegedly shot another man during a robbery in February dragged an NYPD officer with his car during a traffic stop in Brooklyn on Friday, police said.
Takim Newson, 32, was arrested on Long Island after body camera footage caught him reversing his vehicle during a car stop in Brooklyn’s 71st Precinct — which includes parts of Crown Heights, Wingate and Prospect-Lefferts Gardens — around 3:50 a.m. on Friday, the NYPD said.
Early this morning, officers from the @NYPD71Pct conducted a car stop. During their investigation, officers determined the driver was not fit to drive and asked him to step out of the vehicle. That’s when he put the car in reverse, running over the lieutenant. pic.twitter.com/8pWRkcSsI5

After he dragged the officer with his car, Newson allegedly drove to Far Rockaway, where he broke into an apartment and told the woman inside he had a gun, the New York Post reported, citing police sources.
Thirty minutes later, he allegedly stole a Jaguar that a driver had left running outside a home on Beach 13th Street, according to the outlet.
