Our bluecheck betters have a message for us.

You may not have noticed, but a Wojak Race War broke out last week. What’s Wojak? It’s the name of an internet meme that represents a sad or remorseful man. Last week, a large number of people discovered it, modified it, and started using it. Naturally, it became the vehicle for blunt statements of racial hatred and scorn, liked by hundreds of thousands of people.

Think this is all being taken too seriously? Here’s one journalist who thinks we aren’t taking it seriously enough.
While they may seem harmless, these memes are a clear example of alt-right, racist, and antisemitic tropes entering the mainstream. And that isn’t funny at all.https://t.co/oMPYrCaDPP

Racial animosity is always beneath the surface in diverse America.
Do you think Colin Kaepernick is an overrated quarterback? You’re a slave owner.
Very white privileged of you. You sound like a slave owner keeping your property in line.

The GOP is “fascist” now, according to an actor, a former GOP Congressman, a journalist, and the tens of thousands who agree with them.
Stop pretending there’s a polarization problem when the @GOP has embraced fascism. We believe in democracy.
— Bradley Whitford (@BradleyWhitford) December 29, 2020
No Nikki, fascism…not socialism. 2020 was the year you and the Republican Party embraced fascism. https://t.co/EPBBO2bPpP
— Joe Walsh (@WalshFreedom) December 28, 2020
Pretty sure 2020 was the year fascism went mainstream. https://t.co/m4K5kIr9mE

Needless to say, all conservatism is fascism.
Conservatism is, by definition, authoritarian fascism. It’s just that conservative leadership goes through stretches we’re it’s just subtle enough about it to keep conservative followers from realizing it’s authoritarian fascism.

From a former Joe Biden campaign official:
Republicans support fascism.
Democrats support democracy.Got it?

Fascism? We live in a country in which a three-year-old, four-second Snapchat video of a white girl talking like a rapper became fit material for a major article in The New York Times and an excuse to destroy her life. That’s white privilege for you.
