Attorneys representing Travis McMichael, one of two men charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia, said Thursday that the truth of the case will come out in the courtroom.

At a press conference, Jason Sheffield and Robert Rubin said they were committed to finding the facts, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“We know that there are strong opinions, we know there is anger, we know there is outrage,” Sheffield said at a press conference. {snip}

“In this case the entire nation is investigating. We will find the truth and we will bring that truth out, not here but in the courtroom.”

The lawyers also released a statement where they said the public had rushed to judgement against Travis McMichael.

“Travis has been vilified before his voice could even be heard. … The truth in this case will exonerate Travis,” the statement read.

The attorneys representing Greg McMichael are saying their client will be similarly exonerated.

“So often the public accepts a narrative driven by an incomplete set of facts, one that vilifies a good person, based on a rush to judgement, which has happened in this case,” attorney Laura Hogue said a statement.
